Papillary Cystadenocarcinoma In The Retromolar Area- A Brief Case Report -

Salivary gland papillary cystadenocarcinomas are rare lesions, and particularly when they are found in the oral cavity. They have been recognized as being low grade carcinomas of the salivary glands. The author reports here on a case of recurrent papillary cystadenocarcinoma in the right retromolar area. The initial mass had multicystic and papillary structures with low grade features. The recurred mass showed basically the same histologic features. However the layer of papillae and the solid portion were increased and the tumor cells were larger andmore pleomorphic with prominent nucleoli and frequent mitoses. Focal comedo type tumor necrosis and spindle cell proliferations in the surrounding soft tissue were present. This is a very rare report of a minor salivary gland papillary cystadenocarcinoma in a Korean, and the morphologic dedifferentiation was accompanied by the clinical recurrence.

Pharmacokinetics of epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG) was studied following i.v. bolus and oral administration in rats. The values of systemic clearance(CL) were 67.9±5.2 and 26. 5±1.4ml/min/kg following i.v. bolus administration of 1mg and 5mg EGCG, respectively. The values of volume of distribution at steady state (Vss) were 380±56 and 835±84ml/kg after i.v. bolus administration of 1mg and 5mg EGCG, respectively. The decrease in the value of CL and the increase in the value of V_ss as a function of EGCG dose (1mg to 5mg) suggest saturable mechanism(s) responsible for the distribution and elimination of EGCG. The fraction absorbed of EGCG after oral and intraduodenal administration of GTC were 13% and 22% of the dose, respectively. This result suggests a considerable degradation or elimination of EGCG in the gastrointestinal absorption after oral administration in rats.
Intranodal Palisaded Myofibroblastoma with Desmin Expression - A Brief Case Report -

Intranodal palisaded myofibroblastoma is a rare benign mesenchymal neoplasm of the lymph node. It is characterized by intranodal spindle cell proliferation along with amianthoid fibers and prominent hemorrhage. It has been rarely reported in South Korea. We report here on a case of palisaded myofibroblastoma that arose in the left inguinal lymph node. The tumor mass was well demarcated, and it was composed of a proliferation of benign-looking spindle cells. It showed focal hemorrhage and a fibrous pseudocapsule. The tumor cells displayed little pleomorphism, no mitotic count, and characteristic palisading nuclei and amianthoid fibers. The tumor cells were positive for smooth muscle actin, vimentin, and also for desmin, but they were negative for S-100 protein, supporting the diagnosis of myofibroblastoma.

Transport study of horseradish peroxidase and transferrin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate was performed using an in vivo Caco-2 cell cultured monolayer grown on a polycarbonate membrane of Transwell^ⓡ. Horseradish peroxidase was not transported across Caco-2 cell monolayer. Transferrin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate was transported through Caco-2 monolayer. The apparent membrane permeability coefficient(P_app) of transferrin horseradish peroxidase conjugate was 6.54×10^-7cm/sec in the presence of 50μg/ml brefeldin-A. These results suggest the transferrin receptor mediated transcytosis of transferrin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate across Caco-2 cell monolayer.

For advanced gastric cancer (AGC), even after a curative gastrectomy the disease recurs in both regional and distant sites in 30∼50% of patients. Given the high risk of relapse, seeking prognostic factors is crucial to allowing risk-adapted treatments for this disease. Evidences suggested that the biologic behavior of cancers with the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system deficient might be distinct from that with intact MMR in histopathologic features, cancer recurrence, and survival. Therefore, we conducted this study to evaluate the clinical significances of MLH1 and MSH2 expression in AGC on varying positive criteria for immunohistochemical expression. This study included 87 consecutively selected patients with T-stage II and III AGC. We found a statistically significant difference in histological type on the positive criteria where more than 90% of cancer cells positive for MLH1 are accepted as positive. In other variables relating to prognosis such as tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis, survival, we could not find any differences in MLH1 and MSH2 expression of the cancer cells. These findings suggest that MLH1 and MSH2 expression in AGC might not related to prognosis and there might be a correlation between MLH1 expression and histological types. Bilateral renal agenesis is an uniformly lethal malformation occurring in 1-2/10000 birth. This condition is associated with severe oligo-hydroamnios, intrauterine growth retardation, pulmonary hypoplasia and extrarenal anomalies. We experience a case of bilateral renal agenesis associated with agenesis of both ureters and bladder, and single umbilical artery. But the infant had normal pulmonary development. Specific IgM for herpes virus in maternal serum was detected.

After modules are placed according to some placement algorithm, circuit performance and routability can be affected by either flipping modules about their vertical and/or horizontal axes of symmetry or rotating modules while keeping the module placement fixed. In performance sensitive applications, it is desirable to minimize the maximum wire length. Chong and Sahni showed that this problem is NP-hard. In this paper we have developed an Genetic-Algorithm for the problem of minimizing maximum wire length by flipping mudules.
