The Delaunay triangulation. which is one of the surface rendering methods. have been evaluated as a good algorithm which can solve the geometrical connection problems and make high quality images. However this method also have the problem that is the 'non-solid' connection between slices. In this paper, we proposed a new method for the Delaunay triangulation for the surface rendering from 2D medical images in the PC environment. The proposed method was designed to eliminate 'non-solid' tetrahedra. which had no correspondence to the geometric closeness, and used elimination algorithm with modified External Voronoi Skeleton path. This method enabled us to eliminate 'non-solid' tetrahedra without affecting other regions. Thus we could effectively reconstruct the complex shaped objects which were compactly connected with tetrahedra.

There exists a transform trellis code that is optimal for stationary Gaussian sources and the squared-error distortion measure at all rates. In this paper, we train an asymptotically optimal version of such a code to obtain one which is matched better to the statistics of real world data. The training algorithm uses the M algorithm to search the trellis codebook and the LBG algorithm to update the trellis codebook. We investigate the trained transform trellis coding scheme for the first-order AR(autoregressive) Gaussian source whose correlation coefficient is 0.9 and actual speech sentences. For the first-order AR source, the achieved SNR for the test sequence is from 0.6 to 1.4 dB less than the maximum achievable SNR as given by Shannon's rate-distortion function for this source, depending on the rate and surpasses all previous known results for this source. For actual speech data, to achieve improved performance, we use window functions and gain adaptation at rate 1.0 bits/sample.

The transform trellis code is an optimal source code as a block size and the constraint length of a shift register go to infinite for stationary Gaussian sources with the squared-error distortion measure. However to implement this code, we have to choose the finite block size and constraint length. Moreover real-world sources are inherently non stationary. To overcome these difficulties, we developed a training algorithm for the transform trellis code. The trained transform trellis code which uses the same rates to each block led to a variation in the resulting distortion from one block to another. To alleviate this non-uniformity in the encoded image, we constructed clusters from the variance of the training data and assigned different rates for each cluster.

This paper investigates the novels by Kim Kwang-ju by giving special attention to the point that the discussion on his literature should be focused on his newspaper novels in the late 1950s. The results of the investigation with focus on Bed of Roses (1957) and Black and White (1959) are as follows. First, Bed of Roses and Black and White show many similarities in terms of themes, frameworks, characters, and settings because not only did he intend to frame his work in a certain format, leaning on the success of the former but also he was not fully prepared to create the latter. Second, Kim Kwang-ju had a negative feeling toward the leadership. He took a dig at them, creating rich people who have close relation with high ranking officials, and incompetent candidates for the Assembly. In particular, he chastised money-oriented people who had accumulated fortunes in immoral ways and raised their ugly faces in collusion with the leadership. Third, Kim Kwang-ju depicted artists as the good ones who accomplish their artistic goals against all odds. This point is related to his career as an artist, writer, and cultural event manager in the newspaper company. It also reflects his belief in the cultural state along with Kim Gu. Fourty, Bed of Roses and Black and White were written in accordance with the principles of Chinese knight-errant novels. Kim Kwang-ju look at the society from the black-and-white or good-and-evil perspective that “the leadership is evil” and “artists are good”. He tried to deal a hard blow to the society where black or evil prevails. This has some relation with the fact that he translated Chinese knight-errant novels in the 1960s.

A leachate from municipal sanitary landfill site, which is located at the Sukdae-dung, Pusan, was characterized in term of high BOD(∼25,800㎎/ℓ), COD (∼52,000㎎/ℓ) and NH₄^+-N (l,950㎎/ℓ) during August-September, 1987. Nonbiodegradable portion of this waste was estimated to be approximately 20% based on 20 days BOD and COD measurements. Possibility of pretreatment with coagulant including alum, lime and alumlime mixture was tested on this wastewater, Alum with 2,500㎎/ℓ at rapid mixing period of o to 10 minutes was resulted 45% removal of COD, which was best efficiency among various testing conditions. Comparison of biological treatability test on raw leachate and coagulant -treated wastewater was performed with batch reactor, When the initial F/M was increased from 0.34 to 2.9, the trend of treatability was decreased. However, the removal efficiencies of COD of coagulant-treated wastewater became higher than those of raw leachate as the initial F/M increased.
