Squeeze film dampers (SFDs) have been commonly used to effectively enhance the dynamic behavior of the rotating shaft supported by rolling element bearings. However, due to the recent trends of high operating speed, high load capacity and light weight in rotating machinery, it is becoming increasingly important to change the dynamic characteristics of rotating machines in operation so that the excessive vibrations, which may occurparticularly when passing through critical speeds or unstable regions, can be avoided. Semi-active type SFDs using magneto-rheological fluid (MR fluid), which responds to an applied magnetic field with a change in rheological behavior, are introduced in order to find its applications to rotating machinery as an effective device attenuating unbalance responses. In this paper, a semi-active SFD using MR fluid is designed, tested, and identified to investigate the capability of changing its dynamic properties such as damping and stiffness.In order to apply the MR-SFD to the vibration attenuation of a rotor, a systematic approach for determining the damper's optimal location is investigated, and also, a control algorithm that could improve the unbalance response characteristics of a flexible rotor is proposed and its control performance is validated with a numerical example.
유도결합형 플라즈마 식각공정을 통해 제작된 460 nm 격자를 갖는 나노 광결정 특성

The GaN thin film on the 8 periods InGaN/GaN multi-quantum well structure was grown on the sapphire substrate using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. The nano-scaled triangular-lattice holes with the diameter of 150 nm were patterned on a polymethylmethacrylate blocking film using an electron beam nano-lithography system. The thin slab and two-dimensional photonic crystals with the thickness of 28 nm were fabricated on the GaN layer for the blue light diffraction sources. The photonic crystal with the lattice parameter of 460 nm enhances spectral intensity of photoluminescence indicating that the photonic crystals provides the source of nano-diffraction for the blue light of the 450-nm wavelength.

반도체 전공분야의 교육과정은 반도체소자를 제작하는데 있어 디자인하고 소자특성을 시뮬레이션하기 위한 반도체 설계와 반도체장비를 이용하여 재료를 가공하는 반도체공정 및 제작된 소자의 특성을 평가하고 검사하는 신뢰성 공정, 그리고 패키징 공정까지 포함된다. 반도체응용과의 교육과정을 2년 6학기제로 편성하여, 1학년은 직업인의 기본교양 및 인성교육과 함께 반도체 재료 및 회로등 전공기초 소양 및 원리를 습득하는데 중점을 두고 2학년에서는 국제적인 추세인 반도체 설계분야 및 반도체공정을 이해하게 된다. 특히, 국내의 빈약한 반도체 설계분야를 활성화하기 위하여 설계기술을 집중적으로 훈련시키고 특성화하여, 반도체 설계분야의 기능화된 인력을 공급할 수 있도록 교육과정을 편성하였다. Semiconductor technology includes from semiconductor materials, design, fabrication, handling of process equipments, reliability test to packaged semiconductor devices. Our departmental curriculum is organized with 2-years/6-quarters system of Ulsan College: the understanding for the fundamental of semiconductor is carried out in the first academic year and the training for the design skill on semiconductor devices will be focused in the second academic year. The main focus is reflected on the worldwide trend on the design engineering of semiconductor devices and considered for the market establishment on design engineers trained by the lab-oriented practice as well as the fundamental of semiconductor technology.
