        코로나19 유행과 치과위생사 정신건강의 관련성

        Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between depression, anxiety, and COVID-19 with regard to dental hygienists. Methods: A questionnaire survey on depression and anxiety was conducted on 189 dental hygienists from dental hospitals and clinics in the Daegu–Gyeongbuk area. Results: The overall prevalence of depression was 69.8% and that of anxiety was 53.4%. The aspect of depression was heavily influenced by past experience with COVID-19 related quarantine and contact with a confirmed patient. The prolonged pandemic was observed to have exerted a greater impact on depression and anxiety (p<0.05). Conclusions: Depression and anxiety seem to be related to COVID-19 related factors among dental hygienists. Dental hospitals and clinics should monitor the level of depression and anxiety of dental hygienists who are at an elevated risk of COVID-19.

        상처 치료를 위한 천연물 유래 하이드로콜로이드 밴드 개발

        Hydrocolloid bands, which enclose a wound in a gel form, can prevent fading and protect the wound from the external environment; however there are also problems associated with their use, such as skin irritation and bacterial growth. In this study, a liquid-type hydrocolloid band that can provide an antibacterial effect while minimizing skin irritation was developed and its functionality was confirmed. The mixing ratio was optimized by mixing natural product-derived pectin LM and agar in order to obtain a gelation suitable for use as a component of a wound healing band, with optimization of conditions for formation of a film without including volatile components. The result of measuring the moisturizing power with the optimized natural product-derived composition showed that when D-panthenol and hyaluronic acid were mixed in an 8:2 ratio, an increase in the moisture content of the skin was observed even after 4 hours, so that an excellent moisturizing effect was confirmed. In addition, an antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus at 3.4% of bee venom and 0.7% of lavender oil was confirmed, demonstrating the suitability of the natural product-derived hydrocolloid band as a material for application in wound healing. Therefore, application of this natural products-derived hydrocolloid band to various wound treatments can result in eradication of the cause of chemical allergic reactions, by providing an excellent moisturizing capacity for prevention of wound drying, as well as a powerful antibacterial effect.
