        The Product Liability (PL) Law came into effect on and after July. 1. this year in Korea. This law is expected to put much more responsibility on manufacturing firms for their products. With the new PL law consumers have the right to sue manufactures for losses stemming from defective products. The Korean companies, therefore, are rushing to prepare measures that will minimize damage in every industry sector such as automobile, electronic products, electrical, products, household goods, chemical products, gas/petroleum equipment, and machinery, etc. There are a lot of countermeasures to be ready for it. For many Korean companies, most of the efforts so far have been concentrated on establishing specialized task force teams that can control conflicts at early stages as well as modifying product safety aspects of manufacturing. Known specific actions include forming product liability departments, reevaluating all manufacturing procedures from design to production to transportation from safety perspectives, training product liability specialists and educating general employees about the new law. And the companies should also launch public relations efforts informing consumers about the implications of the product liability law as well as planning recall systems so that they can retrieve products speedily in emergencies. And the company also needs to run an educative program for all of its regular employees to get used to the PL mind as well as setting up an upgraded product approval system that will help produce goods that meet PL standards. Therefore, in this study, we will see how to develop effective PL-related countermeasures of the participating industries (companies) through searching substantial cases that can help understanding the real effects of the PL law for companies.

      • 국내 3대 대형 할인점들의 PB상품(Private Brand-유통업자 상표)판매 확대에 대한 경계

        People usually shop at one of the big three discount stores on weekend such as E-Mart, Homeplus, homever, and Lotte Mart. And we can recently see the products marked with the new brands like E-mart coke, Homever eggs(called as farmever eggs), Homeplus Rice, and Lotte Mart milk(called as wiselect). These are the PB-Private Brands products as we call. For instance, what is the main difference between e-mart coke and Pepsi coke? This viewpoint makes us hesitate to choose the right one even though the e-mart coke is much cheaper than Pepsi coke. The competition in the distribution industry would be sharper as long as these big discount stores are expanding their PB products sales with very competitive prices. It means the NB(National Brand) products such as Pepsi coke, NongShim Shin-Ramen, Seoul Milk, Haepyo soil oil, Samdasoo purified water, etc., from manufacturing companies will be in danger of managing their market position to the PB products. So we, as end-users, won't be easy to decide what to choose more and more because the PB products will always be cheaper than the NB products, structurally. However, we have to consider these cheap and good quality products made by small-scale firms who are forced to supply and sacrifice their minimum profit by the strong influence of these very powerful discount stores. So the purpose of this study is to give the warnings of unreasonable and absurd sales of the PB products by the big discount stores.

      • 전사적 리스크관리(ERM)의 필요성에 대한 연구

        The main objective of the enterprise is that it is to continue business value creation. All of our enterprises concentrating in meantime on growth characteristic and profitability security must be kept in mind the possibility of becoming the insolvent and bankrupt company when they neglect the risk management of their enterprises. This is why they must prepare the plan of preparation all the times. The uncertainty of complicated characteristics has been increasing in the current management environment of blunting, such as the 21 century's globalization, unstable oil price and complicated financial goods, etc. So, it is needed to establish the system against the connection characteristic security and an important point of view for the ERM(Enterprise Risk Management) frame. Understanding this ERM and establishing the plans for better ways of management is important in the future. This study would be useful for its management as a guideline.

        성견 3급 분지부 병소에서 Dura mater와 $Guidor^{(R)}$사용후 치주조직 치유의 비교 연구

        There are various treatment methods including barrier membranes in attaining periodontal regeneration and regaining the function of destructed periodontal tissues due to periodontal disease. Barrier membranes consist of non-Resorbable and resorbable types such as Dura mater and $Guidor^{(R)}$ used in the treatment of intrabony defects and classII furcation defects have been shown to be effectively increased the amount of new bone and cementum.In our study we used premolars with class III furcation defects created by removing the bone 4mm apically from CEJ in adult dogs and placed resorbable membrane Dura mater and $Guidor^{(R)}$ for the test group and flap operation was carried out for the control groups. The effect of membrane on junctional epithelium, alveloar bone, cementum, and gingival connective tisssue in the regeneration and healing potential of periodontal tissues was evaluated and healing results were evaluated histologically and histometrically 8 weeks following the surgical procedure. 1. In the clinical observation, there was no exposure of furcation defects in the control group, whereas slight membrane exposure was noted in the test group. 2. New bone was formed up to the level of the notch in the control group, whereas in the test group new bone formation was observed above the level of the notch. 3. New cementum was formed in both groups of the experiment. 4. The connective tissue observed between the new cementum and new bone in the test group were functionally orientated, compared to the irregular formation of connective tissues found in the control group. 5. Root resorption or ankylosis was not observed in any of the groups 6. The mean and median of the control group were 4.31% and 2.23% and for the Dura mater group were 27.85% and 15.57% respectively. There was no significant difference between Dura mater and the control group. 7. The mean and median of the control group were 4.31% and 2.23% and for the $Guidor^{(R)}$ group were 37.27% and 37.19% respectively. There was a significant difference in these two groups(P<O.05). 8. The mean and median of the Dura mater group were 27.85% and 15.57% and for the $Guidor^{(R)}$ were 37.27% and 37.19%. There was no significant difference between the two test groups. Thus, by using Dura mater and Guidor in classIII furcation defects, the predictable amount of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone regeneration may result.

        성인성 치주질환에서 미노클린 국소송달제 효과에 대한 연구

        20 Subjects with clinical diagnosis of adult periodontitis with sites having average pocket depth of 4mm were selected for the study. After scaling and root planing of those sites, 30% minocycline-HCI contained in biodegradable device were inserted in one group, scaling and root planing was carried out in another group and the last group was without any periodontal treatment. the difference between the group was detemined by pocket dept, bleeding on prbing, attachment level, distribution of subgingval plaque bacteria. Conclusion was made for the comparisons between baseline and 4 week and the groups. 1. In analysis of pocket depth, there was significant sifference in scaling and root planing group only. 2. Both the scaling and root planing group and minocycline group showed significant decrease in bleeding on probing. 3. There was significant increase in the attachment level in scaling and root planing group, but no difference was foundbetween the groups. 4. There was significant decrease in the total number of subgingival bacteria in all groups and the number of motile bacteria decreased significantly in the minocycline group. These result indicate that insertion of Minocycline-HCI at the base of periodntal pocket was useful as an additional aid of mechanical trarment at the point of periodontal pocket, bleeding on probing, attachment level, microbial distribution.
