The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) had gradually been declining all over the world, but in recent years, TB has been increasing due to the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). When immune-suppression status deteriorates further, extrapulmonary TB generally appears more often. Abdominal TB is one type of extra-pulmonary TB, which may involve the gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, lymph nodes or solid viscera. We encountered a case who had initially been diagnosed as having abdominal TB, had progressed to acute respiratory distress syndrome and was eventually confirmed as having developed acquired immune deficiency syndrome. In cases of coinfection of TB and HIV, it is reported that immunological responses become poor and complications with higher morbidity frequently occur. Therefore, the Korean guidelines for TB should be revised to ensure whether HIV infection exists in TB patients.
실외이동로봇 안전기준을 통한 전력구 무인로봇의 안전성 및 운용 신뢰도 검증

This paper attempts to secure safety and driving reliability by applying the outdoor mobile robot safe operation certification standards to an unmanned tunnel inspection robot. With the development of the robotics industry, the usability of robots has increased in industry and daily life, and along with this, the safety issues of robots have emerged. Recently, several robot safety standards have been established, providing guidelines for the design and operation of mobile robots. In this paper, the outdoor mobile robot safe operation certification standards were applied to the tunnel inspection robot developed to replace tunnel human equipment inspection. Driving tests were conducted in the field with robots that complied with the safety standard, and stable driving results were obtained. Based on this, the safety and high driving reliability of the inspection robot were confirmed, and it is expected that field unmanned operation of the robot for equipment failure diagnosis will be possible.

Recently, the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis has increased. In addition, extrapulmonary tuberculosis and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis have also increased. We experienced a 34-year-old male with intestinal tuberculosis which failed to respond to primary anti-tuberculosis therapy. He presented with loose stool, abdominal pain, and weight loss. The caseating granuloma was histologically found. The patient had taken primary anti-tuberculosis drugs for 13 months. However, his symptoms and weight loss did not improve. A colonoscopy showed multiple shallow geographic ulcerations in the cecum and ileocecal valve. Histopathologic examination also showed caseating granuloma. We started primary anti-tuberculosis therapy (isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol, pyrazinamide), but follow-up colonoscopic findings after 2 months revealed no change of multiple ulcerations. After conversion of anti-tuberculosis therapy from primary drugs to secondary rescue regimen (prothionamide, cycloserine, para-aminosalicylic acid, levofloxacin, streptomycin), the patient's symptoms have improved. A follow-up colonoscopy revealed only scarring change in the cecum. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2002;39:299-303)
