Lipoma is a benign fatty tumor that can arise in any location of the body where fat is present. It is found most commonly in the upper half of the body, particularly the head and neck, shoulders, and back. A mass in the antero-inferior part of the neck may be initially thought to be thyroid masses and then other cervical masses should be considered. Ultrasongraphic examination of benign lipoma demonstrates solid and echogenic mass and may differentiate nonthyroid from thyroid masses. Although the location of tumors, its consistency, and its motion with deglutition, seperation from the thyroid on sonographic examination, all pointed to nonthyroidal origin, did not rule out a possible mass that isolated from the lobes of the thyroid. Fine needle aspiration and biopsy can provide clear answer. We herein report a case of anterior cervical mass in a 48-yr-old male patient presenting a non-tender, slightly hard and nodular mass slowly growing for several years and moved with swallowing, and diagnosed his case as benign lipoma using thyroid scan and ultrasonography. When we encounter patients with anterior neck mass, we should consider benign lipoma mimicking diffuse goiter(J Kor Soc Endocrinol 10: 418-423, 1995).

In this study, experiments for dielectric breakdown properties and crystal structure of i-PP film are carried out. According to the experimental results, dielectric breakdown strength is increased when thickness of the film is thinned. Dielectric breakdown is produced only at spherulite boundaries and considered as weak point insulation parts of it.
Development of a Handheld Sheet Resistance Meter with the Dualconfiguration Four-point Probe Method

A handheld sheet resistance meter that can easily and quickly measure the sheet resistance of indium tin oxide films was developed. The dual-configuration four-point probe method was adopted for this instrument, which measured sheet resistance in the range from 0.26 Ω/sq. to 2.6 kΩ/sq. with 0.3 % ~ 0.5 % uncertainty. The screen of the instrument displayed the sheet resistance when the probe was in contact with the sample surface and the value continued to be displayed during the probe contact. Even after separating the probe from the surface, the value was still displayed on the screen and could be read easily. A feature of the instrument was the use of the dual-configuration technique to reduce edge effects markedly compared with the single-configuration technique and its ease of operation without applying correction factors for sample size and thickness.
평행판 전극과 전기장 센서를 이용한 교류 고전압 발생원의 측정범위 확장기술 개발

- The output voltage value of AC high voltage source has been usually measured by employing the high voltage divider of inductive or capacitive type. In the study, we have developed a new method for measuring the output voltage up to 60 kV using parallel plates electrode and electric field sensor, which are constructed by home-made. Unlikely the conventional method using a high voltage divider, this developed method makes it possible to extend the range of output voltage from known low voltage measurement to high voltage measurement. From the linearity measured between electric field and applied voltage in the output voltage range of 1 kV ~ 30 kV, the output voltage value up to 60 kV can be obtained by the electric field measurement using the electric field sensor. The output voltage value obtained using the method is consistent with that obtained using high voltage divider within corresponding uncertainties.

반도체 및 평판표시장치(Flat Panel Display) 공정에서 필수적으로 사용되는 박막 두께 측정기를 개발하였다. 측정방식은 FPP법의 dual configuration 측정원리를 적용하였으며 측정범위는 수 ㎚ ∼ 수십 ㎛이다. 순수한 금속 박막에 대하여 측정이 가능하며 박막 시료의 표면에 probe를 접촉시키면 두께가 자동 측정 되므로 박막 시료의 측정위치에 관계없이 누구나 쉽고 정확하게 사용할 수 있다. 저항 측정기능에서 재현성과 반복성 및 직선성은 0.1 %이하의 불확도 범위에서 우수한 특성을 나타냈다.

Portable sheet resistance-measuring instrument using the dual-configuration Four-Point Probe method is developed for the purpose of precisely measuring the sheet resistance of conducting thin films. While single-configuration Four-Point Probe method has disadvantages of applying sample size, shape and thickness corrections for a probe spacing, the developed instrument has advantages of no such corrections, little edge effects and measuring simply and accurately the sheet resistance between 0.2 Ω/sq and 2 kΩ/sq..
