This article is a preliminary study on guide words presented along with the vocabulary in the International Standard Curriculum of Korean Language. This study compares the vocabulary grades of the selected ㅈwords divided into six grades with those of the guide words and analyzes the format of guide words. The study is to examine the aspect of the guide words. To this end, we divided the guide words into word phrases, checked the vocabulary grades and parts of speech for each word phrase, and examined the aspect of guide words for each grade of the selected vocabulary and the presentation format of the guide words. It was used the vocabulary of the same grade as the vocabulary chosen for the guide words. Still, there were also guide words that used a vocabulary of a higher grade than the grade of the selected vocabulary. When looking at guide words with two-word phrases, such as the principle of presentation, based on the part-of-speech standard, they were trying to compose the guide words according to the presenting principle of guide words.
영어권 초급 한국어 학습자의 사회적 거리감과 한국어 학업 성취도와의 관계

This research examines what effect English-speaking Korean language beginners` perception of social distance has on their Korean language achievement. For the objective, Acton`s PDAQ(Professed Difference in Attitude Questionnaire) was used as a survey tool to investigate students` perception of social distance, and 93 responses were analyzed with multiple regression analysis. As a result, among the three social distance factors, S-C(distance between self and countrymen) was found to significantly affect students` Korean language achievement. Specifically, students with the perception of further S-C distance showed higher Korean language achievement. However, S-K(distance between self and Koreans) and C-K(distance between countrymen and Koreans) were not found to be an influential variable on students` Korean language achievement. The results of this study could provide a theoretical background for foreign language teachers to predict students` language achievement based on students` perception of social distance and to design effective foreign language learning environments. 초등학생 대상 다문화 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초 연구

South Korea is fast becoming a multicultural society through an increase in foreign workers and international marriages, with the number of multicultural students increasing in schools. This study examined the fostering of harmonious relationships between Korean and multicultural students for the development of educational programs to increase awareness and positive attitudes toward multicultural students. Teaching and learning guidance programs for two class periods were developed. The programs were conducted in a 5th grade class of 31 students at P elementary school directly with the teacher. The contents comprised completing a checklist of awareness about multicultural people, watching a video, doing a virtual interview, and making a `my promise` card. The findings were: 1)Korean students learned that Korea has become a multicultural society; 2)their negative attitudes toward multicultural students became more positive; 3)they became more aware of the isolation experienced by multicultural people; 4)they made promises to maintain positive attitudes toward multicultural students in the future.
