Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. The prevalence of neuropathic pain is estimated to occur in about 30-50% of all diabetic patients. Clinical symptoms vary depending on the nerves affected, and may include both positive and negative symptoms. Many patients with DPN experience pain or discomfort, anxiety, depression, and limitations in activity, which can significantly impact their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Early diagnosis is essential for the successful management of DPN. Routine management consists of glucose and risk factor control, and symptomatic relief, along with therapies designed to target the underlying disease pathology. Pharmacological treatment of DPN includes tricyclic compounds, serotonin noradrenalin reuptake inhibitors, the antioxidant α-lipoic acid, anticonvulsants, opiates, membrane stabilizers, topical capsaicin, and other drugs. Management of DPN must be tailored to each individual, and depends on a variety of factors, including disease severity and response to treatment. (Korean J Med 2015;89:277-281)

Arc welding is sometimes used to repair damaged cast iron parts in diesel engine for driving a ship. In this case cold arc welding is good for saving the time and results in good repairing. But if some difference in hardness on welding zones made with AWS E Ni-CI and NiFe-CI happen, repaired parts would be cracked in a short. In order to overcome this default, the study is performed on varying preheating temperature of welding parts, selecting welding rod and welding work way. The result will be used on ship's repair working shop.

The clinical presentation of pheochromocytoma is variable. The classic symptoms are headache, diaphoresis, and tachycardia, with paroxysmal hypertension. Other less common cardiovascular manifestations, such as arrhythmias, angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, dilated cardiomyopathy, and acute heart failure, have been reported occasionally. We present the case of a middle-aged woman who had stress-induced cardiomyopathy with a left ventricular thrombus, due to the pheochromocytoma. The thrombus was embolized to the aorto-iliac bifurcation during hospitalization. We removed the thrombus by a catheter thromboembolectomy and performed a surgical left adrenalectomy. After the operation, all of her symptoms and the underlying diseases (hypertension, hyperglycemia, heart failure, dyslipidemia) resolved. (Korean J Med 2014;87:77-80)
비만국민학생들의 체지방율에 따른 체력 및 혈중 지질성분 비교연구

The purpose of this study was to investigate physical fitness and blood lipid componenis by body fat rate of obese students consisted of 118 (male : 79, female : 39) in elementary school. By means of body fat rate, obese students were classified such as M-1: 20-29%, M-2: 30-39%, M-3: above 40 %, for male and F-1: 30 - 39%, F-2: 40-49%, F-3: above 50 % for female, respectively. Also physical fitness test items were subdivided into 1600m runinng, sit and reach and sit -ups tested by obese students and fasting blood samples were obtained and analyzed for blood glucose, triglyuceride (TG), total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) from obese students in elementary school. The results of this study were as follows : ①There were no significant differences among physical fitness items including 1600m runinng, sit and reach, and sit - ups by body fat rate of male and female obese students in elementary school, respectively (p<.o5). Among physical fitness test items, Only sit and reach item was equal to criterion referenced standard of physical best test proposed by AAHPERD (1989). According to increasing body fat rate, It was shown that the levels of all physical fitness were decreased. ②Ther were no significant differences among blood lipid components including blood glucose, triglyce-ride (TG), total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) by body fat rate of obese male and female students in elementary school, respectively (P<1/.05¾. Among blood oipid components, Only cholesterol was exceeded to normal range of this investigation. According to increasing body fat rate, It was shown that the levels of blood lipid components were increased.

The purpose of this study is to determine the cardio-pulmonary responses during the submaximal exercise with treadmill running in athletic subjects. This study employed eighteen male judoist as experimental subject who were from Korean National uni-versity of Physical Education 'Seoul' Korea. The results of this experiment were as follows . The cardio-pulmonary responses including heart rate, respiration frequency, tidal, volume, oxygen consumption per ml, per minut, oxygen consumption per kilogram body weight, carbon-dioxide production in fractional concentration and respiratory quotient (RQ) showed to be significantly increased after progressive submaxmal exercise before all-out time with treadmill running in experimental subjects. Statistical relationship of the correlation cofficients among the cardio-pulmonary response factors during submaximal exercise with treadmill running were statistically siginificant, but that of RQ and the other factors were not significant.
