Korean poetry in 1998-2001 based on the political condition that the left had to exist with the right. Therefore the left had to create something above the criticism because the left took the power by overcoming the prejudice and alienation at the first time. Chinese poetry in the same period, on the contrary, was finding out a way of balance from the status of clinging to the right. This is for the demand of democracy and liberation from the Chinese market made the Chinese communist party call attention to the necessity of control. Even though the two countries were under different level of freedom and democracy, Korean poetry and Chinese poetry in 1998-2001 pursued each own liberation and brought a probability of interaction by writing poems. 한국과 중국의 시가 처한 세기 말의 상황은 사뭇 교착적이다. 건국 이래의 편견과 소외를 극복하고 김대중의 집권을 보게 된 한국의 리얼리즘 시는 현실 비판 이상의 것을 빚어야 하는 문학의 “방법”을 과제로 떠안게 된다. 반면에 중화인민공화국 건립으로부터 문화대혁명에 이르는 왜곡된 집체의식을 시장경제 속에서 자아․현실․세계지향의 통일체로 전환시켜야 하는 중국 시는 정치의 수단 보다는 “가치/휴머니즘”에 주목해야 했다. 집권세력의 경향 교체로 말미암았던 한․중 시의 변화는 현실비판과 인간해방의 내용을 다른 차원으로 이끌면서 각자의 회한과 고민을 미래를 향한 교차가능성으로 나아가게 하였다. 중국의 시가 정치의 수단인 상태를 벗어나 휴머니즘을 향해 독립해 가고 있다면, 한국의 그것은 방법을 갖춘 비판이 되기 위해 길을 모색하는 중이다.

The Relationship between Chinese Politics and Poetry in 1949-1976 Kim, Yong-woon Having been established ‘People’s Republic of China’, Chinese poetry went to accept Maoism with acculturation of ‘peace tradition’ but criticised other trends. Since poetry was becoming a measure of power, it was required to disuse humanism in the poetry from 1949 to 1976. However, not only brought this trend many victims but the poetry itself had to struggle to search the safety zone of politics. This pattern of Chinese poetry caused by Korean War. With focusing details, not abiding forming reflection of reality, the trend which spread the cult of personality to minority races passed several stages up to the enthusiasm of fake religion; the poetry of The Red Guard. If the Hu Feng’ Counter-Revolution is a political work for expanding the trend, however, Hundred Flowers Campaign and Counter-Right were the result that disappointed by Maoist to the intellectual stayed out of the party. The Great Leap Forward & The New folk song which created by Labour Soldiers were not successful either. These poetry which failed to grasp what the Power went to the safety zone; exaggeration of reality or exaggeration of ego, instead of criticising economism in the party. Even though the Red Guard recognized the exact target of politics, the too much passion of politics caused indiscreet violence which led the economism into destruction. As a result that, the poetry became impoverished.
