A Comparison of NLSY and CPS Data

The family income distributions of NLSY97 and CPS youth data are compared by using the generalized beta distribution of the second kind. The null hypothesis that the two data sets represent the same underlying population is rejected. The ML estimation suggests that NLSY97 data are oversampled in an income group of $11,308 or less, by about 15.7% compared to CPS data.
生長期 鷄肝의 Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase의 變動에 관하여

병아리의 孵化前後의 成長過程에 있어서 肝의 成長과 肝의 PEP carboxykinase의 活性變動을 調査하여 다음과 같은 結果를 얻었다. (1) 鷄胎肝은 14日째에 0.1g에서 直線的으로 成長하여 孵化直後엔 0.8g, 孵化後 1週日엔 1.4g으로서 旺盛한 成長을 보였다. (2) PEP carboxykinase는 鷄胎肝의 發生初期부터 mitochondria나 cytoplasm의 兩分劃에 共存하고 있었으며, 前者이 것은 始作부터 高濃度로, 後者의 것은 初期엔 아주 低濃度이었으나 成長과 더불어 增加하였다. (3) 병아리肝의 PEP carboxykinase의 活性度는 孵化後 3日頃에 最高로 높았다가 以後 下降하였다. 이 中에도 cytoplasm의 이 酵素는 孵化前後에 顯著한 上昇을 보였고 成長과 더부러 減少하였다. This study is undertaken to investigate the change of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (EC 4.1.1.32) activity during the chicken liver development. The results obtained were summerized as follows; 1. During one week before and following the hatching, the chicken liver showed a rapid growth in size and a linear increase in weight: the liver weight was 0.1g on the 14th day embryo, 0.8g immediately after hatching and 1.4 on the 7th days. 2. From early embryonic stage the enzyme was determined in both fractions of miotchondria and cytoplasm of the liver. However, the enzyme activity was high in the mitochondria but very low in the cytoplasm, with changes as the embryo chick grew. 3. The rise in the activity of the enzyme of the embryo chick liver reached the peak within 2 to 3 days following the hatching to decline to the levels of an adult liver by the 15th day after the hatching, The pattern of developmental increase in the activity of cytoplasmic enzyme was sharper thau that of the mitochondria.
