Due to high oil prices and global warming problems, researching an alternative energy source and decreasing the energy usage will be the key in the future. Unlike other alternative energy sources, geothermal energy is less dependent on the surrounding environment. Geothermal energy is the ideal energy source for buildings due to the simple and space saving installation. The system is semi permanent once it is installed and this will help reduce the energy usage in controlling the climate in buildings. Geothermal energy does not emit carbon dioxide and other gases that are harmful to the environment. Therefore geothermal energy will be the key in solving high oil prices and a decrease in fossil fuels by applying the geothermal energy system to homes to counter future energy crisis.

This study has been accomplished by offerring the numerical analysis which is more useful to the parts of simulations of the actual models and time-speed than experimental investigation, for attaining the more detailed informations of fluid flow. The primitive variable formulation is applied to get numerical values of momentum equation governing laminar and turbulent flow alike, and the pressure-correction equation is used at the point of inquiring the pressure-field.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the reduction rate of NOx according to sever al parameters(NOx concentration, the flow rate of gas, the additional amount of C2H4, input voltage, input frequency and so on) when NOx is reduced by using PSCD(Pulse Streamer Corona Discharge). PSCD is based on the plasma-chemical technology, which induces narrow voltage pulses to binary electrode structure.

The purpose of this study is to get discretization equation by the widely used Finite Analytic Method as numerical analysis techniques for solving transport equation of flow problems. Numerical analysis has merits of simulating the real flow conditions and economically compared with experimental method. The characteristics of numerical solutions from Finite Analytic Method are as flows : The frist, advantages of Finite Analytic solutions are its good stability and ability in getting desirable numerical results with automatical upwind-effect. Impeller shape and number of vanes change drastically the pump performance. In this study effects of the number of the vanes on non-clogging pump performances are studidied experimentally. Results show that the total head and the efficiency of non-clogging pump increase as the number of vanes increases.

In Korea, lack of knowledge of chemical composition, permeability, impurities, heat resistance of the sand for moulding sand has prevented the right way of treatment of moulding sand as engineering material. Therefore, we have determined to survey and study on the moulding sand. As the first step, we have started to survey and study on the Nam-Han river sand. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Tte contents of silicate in sand is satisfactorily high and the impurities are little. 2. The hardness is high enough, but compressive strength and permeability are comparatively low. 3. The grain distribution of sand shows that the grain size belongs to the fine and medium sand group. 4. The grain shape of sand is sub-angular. 5. The temper water content in the sand is approximately 6%.

The effects of temperature on the cellular growth and antibiotic production in sisomicin fermentation were investigated. The fermentations were batchwise carried out at four different temperatures(28, 31, 34 & 37℃). As the culture temperature was increased, the cellular growth was increased and completed at early time, and the final antibiotic yield was remarkably reduced. Applying the Pontryagin's maximum principle to the experimental data, the optimal temperature profile was calculated. The temperature should be kept initially to be high and then be gradually lowered for maximizing the final antibiotic yield.
