The transfer of heat is an important aspect of every polymer processing operation. The present effort is directed to providing a fundamental and useful treatment of heat transfer in polymeric systems. The effects of viscous heat dissipation and thermal expansion cooling for non-Newtonian fluid were analyzed and compared with the experimental results.

Parametric effects on Critical Heat Flux have been studied. Coupling effects of pressure, mass velocity and Steam quality were studied. The test was conducted in 25 Rod bundle nuclear reactor of Dia 0.415'' and 72'' long. The experiment was conducted with mass velocity of 0.5 ×106lb/hrㆍft²to 2.5 ×106 under the pressure of 1000∼2100 psia. The test data have been in good agreement with the previous empirical correlation.

Two processes, Bayer and Pcuk, to produce hydrazine hydrate have been compared in economic and technical aspects. Pcuk process is turned out to be more profitable than the Bayer process.
2회전 CORDIC을 이용한 QRD-RLS 알고리듬 구현

본 논문에서는 변경된 Given회전을 이용한 QR 분해와 이를 기반으로 하는 RLS 알고리듬의 구현에 대하여 연구하였다. Givens 회전은 CORDIC(Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer) 연산을 반복 수행하여 구한다. QR 분해의 계산 시간을 줄이기 위해 1회의 Givens 회전에 필요한 CORDIC 연산의 반복 회수를 제한하였으며 보정계수를 계산할 때의 제곱근 계산을 없애기 위해 2회전 방법을 사용하였다. In this paper we studied an implementation of QR decomposition-based RLS algorithm using modified Givens rotation method. Givens rotation can be obtained with a sequence of the CORDIC operations. In order to reduce the computing time of QR decomposition we restricted the number of iterations of the CORDIC operation per a Givens rotation and used double-rotation method to remove the square-root in the scaling factor.

Until the early 1960’s, agriculture and fishery industry had constituted the backbone of the industrial structuer in Korea, however, with the implementation of the three consecutive fiveyear economic development plans started in 1962, Korea is experiencig the aftereffect of rapid industrialization and urbanization. Upbringing young and/or future farmers and fishermen has become one of the key national issues in early 1980’s in Korea, since the major workforce of rural and fishing villages has consisted of the aged and women. With a renewed emphasis on upbringing young farmers and fishermen, the government has allocated a special fund of thirty five billion won, and the ministry concerned as well as a group of scholars and individuals are devoting their efforts to find ways to bringing up the future generations of farmers and fishermen, and a nationwide seminar was held in October 1981 toward these efforts. One of the topics of the discussion at the seminar was related to the Korean terminology of young farmers and fishermen. The purpose of the study was to find out appropriate Korean terms for young farmers and fishermen. One hundred and seventeen questionnaires were sent to the staff members of the Office of Rural Development, Provincial& County Office of Rural Development, principals of agricultural high schools, agricultural supervisors of the Provincial Board of Education, older and younger farmers and fishermen. About 54% or 63 individuals returned the questionnaire with their responses, opinions and feelings on proper Korean terms related to young farmers and fishermen, and the results were reviewed by a panel of judges composed of facultuy members of the College of Agriculture, Seoul National University. The findings of the study shows an wide acceptance of terms such as ‘farming and fishing successor’, ‘new farmers and fishermen’, ‘young farmers and fishermen’, ‘future farmers’, and ‘outstanding young farmers’, etc.,however, as the words of terms have power to mould people’s thinking, to canalize their feeling, to direct their willing and acting, a continred revisions and redefinitions will be necessary in the future.

Heat transfer to a flowing thermally softened polymer(Polymethyl methacrylate) has been studied. Experimental temperature profiles were determined at various axial lengths. The data are both precise and reproducible. Sizable viscous dissipation was found to occur. This effect was found to be greater for polymethylmethacrylate than a molten polymer(polyethylene). The experimentally determined data were checked qualitatively with the data computed from a prior analytical solution of the equations of motion and energy.
