The two phase-converter that the thyristors were not broken even in the case of commutation failure was manufactured for trial. And the characteristics of the equipment were studied. The obtained results are as follows ; (1) The thyristors of the two phase converter proposed in this paper are not broken even in the case of commutation failure. (2) We can manufacture the two phase-converter with the better commutation capacity, if we take the suitable values of the circuit elements. (3) The phase difference between A and B phase can be transfer freely through the control of the gate signal.

A study is made on the behavior of the charged particles in insulating material according to the temperature and the bias voltage. The sample is XLPE(cross-linked polyethylene) which is extensively used as the electrical insulator. TSC (Thermally stimulated current) method is employed for this study. peak TSC of the XLPE is observed near A(-125℃), B(-30℃), C(50℃), D(100℃). A-Peak which is due to the dipolarization, is observed. The TSC spectrum varies with the bias voltage. It is found that the C-peak is due to the ionic space charge polarization, and the D-peak is due to the trap charge polarization. Polarity of the trap carrier is positive.

T'he electrical insulative life of cross-linked polyethylene used as an insulating material in power cable is predicted in this paper. The experiment is progressed velocity theoretically. In this experiment, supplied experimental voltage under the condition of equivalent temperature, and then Arrhenius equation is applied. To get the span of life vs. temperature characteristics, the relation between the logarithm value of life and the reciporical of temperature are extended as a straight line, after that the span of life is predicted. In case of raising the temperature of sample linear type, to get the breakdown temperature vs. raising velocity of temperature characteristics, after developed the Arrhenius equation a little more, Predcted the span of life about cross-linked polyethylene semi-theoreticalliy. The results of this experiment are as follows: 1) The experimental values for the prediction of the span of life between at the case of equivalent tamperature and variable temperature are a little different. 2) The phenomenon of insulation breakdown which is based upon Tree breakdown can get by ineans of the velocity theory. 3) To get the life characteristics, the velocity theory is applied, The theoretical values and experimental values are aimost equal. Therefore, the propriety ut above method is confirmed
