This paper has represented an iterative approach to the optimal limit design of reinforced concrete frame that overcomes the difficulties with the limit equlibrium condision. The procedure involves the performance of a seris of optimal design where, at any stage, the limit equlibrium eqation partaining to the critical collapse mode for the previous design is added to constraint set for the next design. Upon suceeding iterations, the final design is achieved when a subsquent strength analysis finds the collapse load for the design to be greater than, or equal to, the specified design load level. Both the plastic design and strength analysis processes are formulated as linear programming using simplex algorithm.

As the size of semiconductor devices shrinks in the horizontal as well as vertical dimension it is difficult to estimate the transport-velocity of electron because they drift in non-equilibrium with a few scattering. In this paper HYbrid Monte Carlo simulator which employs the drift-diffusion model for hole-transport and Monte Carlo model for electron-transport in order to reduce the simulation time and increase the accuracy as well has been developed and applied to analyze the electron-transport in InAlAs/InGaAs HBT which is attractive for an ultra high speed active device in high speed optical fiber transmission systems in terms of the velocity and energy distribution as well as cutoff frequency.

Current ultimate strength design practice is based on experimental information obtained from concrete with compressive strength in the range of 3,000 to 6,000 psi. For developing a satisfactory design equation for flexural member with higher strength concrete, validation or modification of existing ultimate strength properties of stress block may be necessary. In this paper, experimental data on high strength concrete obtained by other investigator^1.2) are reported. Based these data, the author have proposed emperical expressions.

This paper argues that there are two kinds of reduplicaiton, namely morphological reduplication and phonological reduplication in Korean. To making such a suggest, this article re-examines the concept and the classification of reduplication. In terms of the concept, this paper argues that 'synonym compounding', in which the two members of the compound are phonologically distinct should be included in the category of reduplication. It means that the mechanism of reduplication is not only based on phonological identity between the constituents of reduplication, but also based on semantic identity. The former is the phonological reduplication based on the phonological identity of reduplicants and the latter is the morphological reduplication. These two reduplications differ in the unit of reduplicant, word structure, word formation, the meaningful functions and the grammatical functions of reduplication.

This study aims to examine the usage of newly-coined words in Korea during the 19th century. Because 19th century in Korea is the time of opening a country to foreign intercourse, many new equipments and systems had imported into the Korea. So many new vocabuaries were needed to express it. In those days, many newly-coined words were settled in various ways. Some words entered into the competition with old words or other loan words. Some words were used for a short time and disappreaed. In this study, equivalent terms in translation for ‘tran, steam car, steam boat, news paper, policeman, sunday’ which are introduced in A Concise Dictionary of the Korean Language(1890) are examined by searching 19th century corpus. Although it is hard to build the regulate the settlement of these vocabularies in 19th century,diverse observations by corpus of newly-coined words in 19C will be helpful to explain the process of settlement of new words.

The object of minimum weight design is to minimize the structure weight function subject to the constraints of the inequalities derived from the possible machanisms. The weight function and the constraints are all in the unknown plastic moments, so that the solution of the problem is one of linear programming. There-fore, the analysis and design phases of minimum weight design are fomulated as linear programming problem using simplex algorism.
