N/A An investigation of the biodegradable polymers based on starch has been accomplished. Starch needs to be modified before blending with low density polyethylene(LDPE) because of its hydrophilicity. Three kinds of modification methods were applied to obtain the compatibility to starch-LDPE blends. The first one was the esterification of the hydroxyl group of starch with acetic anhydride. The second was the copolymerization of actylonitrile and styrene onto starch. The last was the esterification reaction of the hydroxyl group of starch with three kinds of ionomers. The tensile strength, % elongation, Young`s modulus, and shear viscosities of blends of the modified starch and LDPE were examined. Ionomer-treated starch showed better compatibility with LDPE to give better performances than other blends.

스코리아 분말을 포함하는 EVA 패드의 원적외선 방사 특성

Manufacturing method of EVA(ethylene vinyl acetate) pads including waste scoria powder was suggested, and their far-infrared ray emission characteristics were investigated. Emissivity of EVA pad including 20wt% scoria was 0.884 at 40℃. Emission power and emissivity of scoria EVA pad were increased with scoria contents, and were nearly the same as pad including germanium powder. Physical properties of scoria could improve EVA pad in the far-infrared ray emission power and a keeping warmth.
국부 마모 부품을 위한 레이저 표면강화 열처리에 관한 연구

두께 10mn 일반기계구조용강재를 사용하여 레이저 종류에 따른 표면경화 열처리특성에 관하여 알아보았다. 경화층의 형성은 레이저의 종류에 크게 영향을 받았는데, 표면경화 열처리를 위해서는 파장이 짧은 Nd-YAG 레이저를 사용하는 것이 유리하였다. 경화층의 최고경도는 700Hv 가량으로 높게 나타났으며, 레이저 표면경화 열처리는 상온에서 사용되는 부품의 내마모성 향상 특히 국부 마모를 겪는 부품에 효과적일 것으로 판단되었다.

Current fire safety in the construction sites has developed piecemeal over a considerable period of time. However, the law and regulation of fire safety is insufficient to protect fire in the construction sites. The frequency of fire in the construction sites is very rare but it brings longterm deterioration durability of building structure and large scale industrial calamity. There are many process of works and each work deals with many kind of flammable material, so it is very difficult find a proper safety fire prevention. This study executed the questionnaire and fire experiment of the welding work to provide effective fire prevention counterplan.
실내공기정화기에서 먼지 및 유기물화합물의 동시 제거에 관한 연구

The indoor air cleaner used in this study consisted of a plasma reactor followed by an electrostatic precipitator. The role of the electrostatic precipitator is to collect particulate matters, and the plasma reactor plays an important role in decomposing organic compounds and precharging particulate matters in order that they may easily be collected in the following electrostatic precipitator. For the performance test of the air cleaner, toluene, trichloroethylene (TCE), n-butanol and methanol were added to the indoor air. According to the experimental data, the collection efficiency of particulate matters was found to be largely enhanced when the plasma reactor was operated. This enhancement of collection efficiency is believed to result from precharging particulate matters. A large amount of electrical energy was required for the decomposition of the organic compounds, which indicates that the indoor air should be repeatedly circulated for proper treatment.

미생물 살충제로 사용되고 있는 B. thuringiensis를 모기유충방제에 적용하기 위한 시도는 B. thuringiensis가 수서생태계에서 부유하지 못하고 가라앉으며, 생활환을 이루지 못한다는 문제점으로 인해 적용에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 모기유충에 강한 독성을 갖는 B. thuringiensis subsp. morrisoni PG-14의 cryIVD 유전자를 모기유충의 먹이인 cyanobactrium에 도입하기 위하여 발현벡터 pCYASK 5-1을 제작하고, cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC6803에 형질전환시켜, 세포내에서 cryIVD 유전자의 발현과 뇌염모기에 대한 독성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 형질전환체 내에서 cryIVD 발현은 immunoblot 분석을 통해 B. thuringiensis subsp. morrisoni PG-14에서 발현된 단백질과 같은 분자량으로 발현되는 것을 확인하였으며, 모기유충에 대한 형질전환체의 독성은 1.40×10^6 cells/ml 농도에서 약 80%의 치사율을 나타내었다. Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. morrisoni PG-14 is a gram-positive soil bacterium producing mosquitocidal parasporal inclusions composed of several crystal proteins. Among these crystal protein genes, cryIVD gene is one of major component which has 72 kDa in size. However, these parasporal inclusions sink quickly from the surface of water where mosquito larval feeding occurred. To develope mosquitocidal cyanobacterium, therefore, we constructed the expression vector, pCYASK 5-1 harboring cryIVD gene. The expression vector, pCYASk5-1 was transformed into the cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC6803 reported as a natural mosquito larval food source and the transformants were selected with kanamycin. Expression of cryIVD gene in transformant was characterized by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and immunoblot analysis. The mosquitocidal activity of a transformant was determined electrophoresis (PAGE) and immunoblot analysis. The mosquitocidal activity of a transformant was determined with Culex tritaeniorhynchus. The results showed that the transformed cyanobacterium is toxic to mosquito larvae and will be expected as a potential agent that is used for mosquito control.

Several Pt-based two and three phase anode catalysts supported on carbon were prepared with novel method and the composition of the surface particles were determined by SEM analysis. Single direct ethanol fuel cell(DEFC) were performed by cyclic voltammetry(CV) measurements. It was showed that the presence of Sn, Ru, W enhances the activity of Pt towards ethanol electro-oxidation In the following order: Pt1-Sn1/C > Pt1-W1/C > Ptj-Ruj/C and Pt1-Sn1-W1/C > Pt1-Ru1-Sn1/C >Pt1-Ru1-W1/C. But DEFC performances of three phase catalysts observed lower than two phase. It is thought that the surface of Pt active sites would be affected by the other catalysts.
마이크로웨이브 플라즈마 공정에 의한 휘발성유기화합물의 분해에 관한 연구

A microwave plasma system using 2.45 GHz magnetron was applied to the decomposition of volatile organic compounds such as toluene and trichloroethylene. This microwave plasma system designed for producing plasma at atmospheric pressure consists of a magnetron detached from a household microwave oven, a directional coupler, a three-stub tuner, a tapered waveguide, and plasma flame section where a quartz tube with a nozzle is located. In this system, the organic compounds can be decomposed in the way of thermal incineration as well as by the reactions with various active species formed during plasma discharge. The effect of feed gas flow rate on the decomposition was significant due to the decrease in the gas temperature, but the initial concentration in the range of 210-2,100 ppm did not largely affect the decomposition efficiency. The principal byproduct was nitrogen oxides because this system was operated at high temperature. To improve the decomposition of the organic compounds, argon was used as a plasma-assisiting gas, together with the air-like feed gas mixture. Large enhancement in the decomposition efficiency was achieved by the use of argon.
