Deriving the Properties of Object Types for Research Data Relation Model
Kim, Suntae Korea Institute of Science and Technology Informat 2013 Journal of Information Science Theory and Practice Vol.1 No.2
In this study, the properties of the object types required to describe the relationship among research data resources, which may be generated during the life cycle of the research, are derived. The properties of Fedora Commons and DSpace, which are open source software used for resource management, and schema properties published in DataCite were analyzed. Based on relation names of Fedora Commons, nine new relation names were derived. Thirty-eight object type properties consolidating the target properties of the analysis were derived. The result of this study can be used as basic material for crosswalk research studies of object type relation terms to ensure interoperability among the systems.
Mutations of ACADS Gene Associated with Short-Chain Acyl-Coenzyme A Dehydrogenase Deficiency.
Kim, Se Hwa,Park, Hyung-Doo,Sohn, Young Bae,Park, Sung Won,Cho, Sung Yoon,Ji, Suntae,Kim, Su Jin,Choi, Eun Wha,Kim, Chi Hwa,Ko, Ah-Ra,Yeau, Sunghee,Paik, Kyung-Hoon,Jin, Dong-Kyu Institute for Clinical Science] 2011 Annals of clinical and laboratory science Vol.41 No.1
<P>Short-chain acyl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase deficiency (SCADD) is an autosomal recessive disorder of mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation associated with mutations in the ACADS gene (Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase, Short-chain, OMIM #606885). SCADD is a heterogeneous condition that has been associated with various clinical phenotypes ranging from fetal metabolic decompensation in infancy to asymptomatic individuals. Here, the first Korean neonate diagnosed with SCADD by biochemical and genetic findings is reported. The patient has remained asymptomatic by avoiding hypoglycemia. An increased concentration of butylcarnitine was detected on newborn screening. Subsequent urine organic acid analysis showed increased urinary excretion of ethylmalonic acid. To confirm the presence of the genetic abnormality, all the coding exons of the ACADS gene and flanking introns were amplified by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Sequence analysis of the ACADS gene revealed novel homozygous missence mutations, c. 1031A>G (p.E344G) in exon 9. In summary, the first Korean patient with confirmed SCADD by genetic analysis is reported with novel mutation.</P>
Machine-actionable Data Management Plans Model Analysis and Improvement Direction
Kim, Suntae Korea Institute of Science and Technology Informat 2020 Journal of Information Science Theory and Practice Vol.8 No.4
In this study, the RDA DMP Common Standard (RDCS), a data model for implementing a machine actionable Data Management Plan (maDMP), was analyzed in four aspects. First, the twelve class models proposed by RDCS were analyzed. Second, whether the DMP attribute was included in the class attribute was analyzed. Third, we analyzed the namespace used for RDCS properties. Fourth, the values and identifiers used in RDCS properties were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, four directions for improvement were derived. First, it is necessary to add an academic record class to describe information such as papers and reports, which are representative academic documents. Second, the primary research institution, responsibility, resources, option attribute, and additional attributes are needed to describe the researcher's affiliation information. Third, it is necessary to additionally use a namespace such as Friend of a Friend that can be used universally. Fourth, the use of digital object identifier should be considered to identify academic literature.
Registry Metadata Quality Assessment by the Example of re3data.org Schema
Suntae Kim,Myung-Seok Choi 건국대학교 지식콘텐츠연구소 2017 International Journal of Knowledge Content Develop Vol.7 No.2
Nowadays, research data repositories (RDR) have become progressively widespread all over the world. To expand repository services and build up inbound linking strategy, organizations list their repositories with so called Global Registries. Accordingly, such registries should be carefully described by the related data. In this study, I explore the metadata schema of re3data.org. I collect and analyze descriptions from the listed repositories, and come up with some suggestions concerning possible improvements to the metadata schema. To accomplish this, I develop a crawler program, which collects necessary data from the re3data.org. Based on the analysis results, I have identified two issues that required elements is missing, one issue that required element value is missing when the corresponding property is applied, five inconsistency issues with re3data controlled vocabulary, six issues with undescribed optional elements, and two inconsistency issues between the elements and their attributes which do not pair with. I believe this discussion can facilitate improvements to the existing re3data.org schema and further help researchers who analyze data repository trends.
Trend Analysis of Research Topics in Ecological Research
Suntae Kim National Institute of Ecology 2023 국립생태원회보(PNIE) Vol.4 No.1
This study analyzed research trends in the field of ecological research. Data were collected based on a keyword search of the SCI, SSCI, and A&HCI databases from January 2002 to September 2022. The seven keywords, including biodiversity, ecology, ecotourism, species, climate change, ecosystem, restoration, wildlife, were recommended by ecological research experts. Word clouds were created for each of the searched keywords, and topic map analysis was performed. Topic map analysis using biodiversity, climate change, ecology, ecosystem, and restoration each generated 10 topics; topic maps analysis using the ecotourism keyword generated 5 topics; and topic map analysis using the wildlife keyword generated 4 topics. Each topic contained six keywords.
