        박인환 시에서의 우울과 시간의식

        박인환 시에 만연한 우울과 슬픔의 감정은 허무와 죽음의식을 나타내는 것으로 평가되어 왔다. 초기 시에서 보였던 현실 지향적 의식이 전쟁을 경험하면서, 내면으로 침잠하는 페시미즘의 성향을 보이는 것으로 평가되어 왔다. 그러나 이 슬픔과 우울의 감정은 박인환의 시에서 시간의식과 밀접하게 관계되어 나타난다는 점에서, 역사적인 것으로 이해되어야 한다. 말하자면, 전쟁이라는 매우 구체적인 폭력의 현상을 목도하고 경험하는 순간에 얻어지는 감정은 이 경험의 순간을 역사적으로 고찰할 수 있는 판단력에 해당한다. 박인환의 시는 초기의 현실 지향적 경향에서 후퇴하여 내면으로 침잠한 것이라기보다는, 이 순간의 적극적인 인식을 통해서 여전히 현실에 대응할 수 있는 시의 가치를 견고하게 지켜내고자 했다고 할 수 있다. '우울'이라는 감정의 적극적 노출은 그가 페시미즘에 빠졌다는 것을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 당시에 전쟁을 대한 다른 사람들과 다른 위치에서 있었다는 것을 의미한다. 박인환의 시에서 시간은 적극적인 '현재'의 시간, '순간'의 시간이며, 이는 그러한 시간선 위에서 빠져나오는 것을 의미하기 때문이다. 박인환은 진보적 시간관에서 빠져나와 '순간'에 적극적으로 서는 것으로써 자신의 전쟁경험을 구성하고, 그것에 의미를 부여하려고 한다. '우울'은 전쟁이라는 당면한 역사적 비극 앞에서 그것을 '판단'하고 그 자리에서 '인간의 가치'를 찾아보려는 노력에 수반하여 나타났다. 비록 박인환은 요절함으로써 그 시적 성취를 끝까지 끌고 가지는 못했지만, 1950년대에 만연한 '감정'의 문제를 새로운 차원에서 바라볼 수 있는 단초를 마련하고 있다고 평가할 수는 있을 것이다. The overflowing emotions of melancholy and sorrow in Park, In-hwan's poems has been interpreted as his consciousness of the death; his keen attention toward the reality seems to have been transformed into pessimistic attitude, which turned him to the interior after he experienced the Korean war. However, in the sense that those emotions of melancholy and sorrow are in close connection with the poet's unique concept of time, we have to understand those as something with its own historicity. Park construes historical time through the moments and achieve the positive attitudes through his poetic method of recollection. He makes the past present through the recollection; what is not existent any more is associated with the present through this poetic imagination, and this allows humans to be saved from the momentary despair. The positive exposure of the melancholic emotion in his poems does not mean that he indulged himself with pessimism; it means that he took the different position toward the war from others. In his poems, time is always the time of the positive present and this unique conception allows him to break away from the general concept of the linear flow of time. Park tries to construct and reevaluate what he experienced at the war while positioning himself at the positive moments with escaping from the conceptual framework of the progressiveness of time. The melancholy is accompanied with Park's struggle to understand the historical tragedy of the war and to discover the human values at its site. Though Park's untimely death prevented him to take this poetic achievement to another level, his poetics allows us to comprehend the issue of overflowing emotions in the post-war Korean poetry from a new angle.

        중합효소연쇄반응법을 이용한 급성 치수 및 치근단 질환의 병원성 세균의 동정

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency of 7 putative pathogens in endodontic infections. The specimens were collected from infected pulpal tissue of patients who were referred for root canal treatment to the department of conservative dentisty, Chosun University. Samples were collected aseptically using a barbed broach and a paper point. The cut barbed broaches and paper points were transferred to an eppendorf tube containing 500 ml of 1 X PBS. DNAs were extracted from the samples by direct DNA extraction method using lysis buffer (0.5% EDTA, 1% Triton X-100). Identification of 7 putative pathogens was performed by PCR based on 16S rDNA. The target species were as follows: Porphyromonas endodontalis, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Prevotella nigrescens, Bacteroides forsythus, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, and Treponema denticola. Our data revealed that the prevalence of P.endodontalis was found in 88.6% (39 / 54), P.gingivalis 52.3% (23 / 44), P.nigrescens 18.2%(8 / 44), P.intermedia 15.9% (7 / 44), B.forsythus 18.2% (8 / 44), A.actinomycetemcomitans 2.3% (1 / 44), T.denticola 25% (11 / 44) of the samples. The high prevalence of P. endodontalis and P.gingivalis suggests that they may play an important role in the etiology of endodontic infections.

      • Efficacy of omalizumab in chronic refractory urticaria: Practical experiences in Korean patients

        Background: More than half of chronic spontaneous urticaria ( CSU ) patients do not respond adequately to H1-antihistamine treatment. Omalizumab is a humanized anti-IgE monoclonal antibody that has proved to be effective in treatment of patients with chronic urticaria refractory to antihistamines. Objectives: We analyzed real world experiences with using omalizumab for CSU patients who did not respond to treatment with high dose antihistamine. Methods: Twenty five patients (male : female=12 : 13, mean age, 51.0 years) were treated with 150mg or 300mg omalizumab every 4 weeks more than 12 weeks. The duration of CSU ranged 3 months and 12 years (mean, 3.3 years). Mean serum IgE level was 127.4 IU/ml (2~362 IU/ml). Treatment efficacy were assessed primarily based on Weekly urticaria activity scores (UAS-7), Weekly itch severity score (ISS-7) and Investigator’s Global assessment (IGA) changes from baseline to week 12. Results: After 12 weeks of therapy, mean UAS-7 decreased from 26.0 to 3.8, mean ISS-7 decreased from 13.5 to 2.1 and mean IGA decreased from 3.3 to 1.0. Complete remission (UAS-7 =0) was seen in 54.5% of patients who started with 300mg and in 35.7% of those who started with 150mg. Partial response (UAS-7≤6) was observed in 84.0 % of patients. Four patients(16%) had treatment failure(UAS-7>6) to omalizumab treatment. Conclusion: This real world experience demonstrated that omalizumab is a well-tolerated, beneficial option for the treatment of CSU patient refractory to antihistamine.

        Inhibitory Effect of Ore Minerals on the Allergic Inflammation in Mouse

        The ore minerals, mainly composed of sericite, talc, and halloysite, were investigated for their inhibitory effect on the allergic inflammation in mice by measuring the serum IgE level, inflammatory cytokine production, and histamine and ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase releases. When the mice were ovalbumin (OVA)-challenged prior to the ore mineral treatment, the IgE level in the serum decreased significantly. The ore minerals significantly reduced the productions of IL-4 and the tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ in the bronchial alveolar lavage fluid challenged with OVA. The inflammatory infiltrates, found in the lung of the OVA-challenged mouse, were also notably decreased following the ore mineral treatment. The ore minerals significantly reduced the release of histamine and ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase from the RBL-2H3 cells. These results suggest that the ore minerals may be useful as potent inhibitors of the allergic inflammation in mice.

        Effects of Dietary from Safflower Bud on the Osteoporosis in Ovariectomized Rats

        It has been reported that safflower seeds have preventive effects against osteoporosis. Recently, safflower buds (SB) were found to have more useful functional ingredients than safflower seeds. In the current study, we evaluated the anti-osteoporosis effects of SB diet in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. The rats were divided into five groups; sham operated group, OVX alone group, OVX plus 17β-estradiol (E2 10 μg/kg, i.p.) and OVX plus SB diet feeding group (0.3% or 1%). Feeding of SB diet (0.3% or 1%) to OVX rats markedly increased bone mineral density (BMD) of femurs, compared to the OVX group. The OVX rats exhibited a marked increase in trabecular separation (Tb.Sp) and this change was inhibited by the feeding of SB diet, similar to that seen with OVX+E2 group. Moreover, feeding of SB diet to OVX rats decreased the markers of bone turnover, including osteocalcin and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). These results suggest that SB extract has a bone sparing effect in OVX-induced trabecular bone loss and prevents deterioration of bone microarchitecture by suppressing the rate of bone turnover. Therefore, SB may be useful for preserving bone mass and structure in estrogen deficient women with a potential role in reducing postmenopausal osteoporosis.

        Reduction of Trimethylamine Off-Odor by Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Korean Traditional Fermented Food and Their In Situ Application

        Trimethylamine (TMA) is a well-known off-odor compound in fish and fishery products and is a metabolic product of trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) generated by the enzymatic action of microorganisms. The off-odor is a factor that can debase the value of fish and fishery products. The present study aimed to remove TMA using lactic acid bacteria (LAB). A total of fifteen isolates exhibiting the TMA reduction efficacy were isolated from Korean traditional fermented foods. Among these isolates, five LAB isolates (Lactobacillus plantarum SKD 1 and 4; Lactobacillus paraplantarum SKD 15; Pediococcus stilesii SKD 11; P. pentosaceus SKD 14) were selected based on their high TMA reduction efficacy. In situ reduction of TMA efficacy by the LAB cell-free supernatant was evaluated using a spoiled fish sample. The results showed effective TMA reduction by our selected strains: SKD1 (45%), SKD4 (62%), SKD11 (60%), SKD14 (59%), and SKD15 (52%), respectively. This is the first study on TMA reduction by the metabolic activity of LAB and in situ reduction of TMA using cell-free supernatant of LAB. The present finding suggests an economically useful and ecofriendly approach to the reduction of TMA.
