        Lysophosphatidylserine Induces Calcium Signaling through Ki16425/VPC32183-Sensitive GPCR in Bone Marrow-Derived Mast Cells and in C6 Glioma and Colon Cancer Cells

        Lysophosphatidylserine (LPS) can be generated following phosphatidylserine-specific phospholipase $A_2$ activation. The effects of LPS on cellular activities and the identities of its target molecules, however, have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we observed that LPS stimulated intracellular calcium increased in mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMC), and rat C6 glioma and human HCT116 colon cancer cells and compared the LPS-induced $Ca^{2+}$ increases with the response by lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a structurally related bioactive lysolipid. In order to test involvement of signaling molecules in the LPS-induced $Ca^{2+}$ signaling, we used pertussis toxin (PTX), U73122, and 2-APB, which are specific inhibitors for G proteins, phospholipase C (PLC), and $IP_3$ receptors, respectively. The increases due to LPS and LPA were inhibited by PTX, U-73122 and 2-APB, suggesting that both lipids stimulate calcium signaling via G proteins ($G_{i/o}$ types), PLC activation, and subsequent $IP_3$ production, although the sensitivity to pharmacological inhibitors varied from complete inhibition to partial inhibition depending on cell type and lysolipid. Furthermore, we observed that Ki16425 completely inhibited an LPS-induced $Ca^{2+}$ response in three cell types, but that the effect of VPC32183 varied from complete inhibition in BMMC and C6 glioma cells to partial inhibition in HCT116 cells. Therefore, we conclude that LPS increases $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ through Ki16425/VPC32183-sensitive G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), G protein, PLC, and $IP_3$ in mouse BMMC, rat C6, and human HCT116 cells.

        Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in Rat Liver and Kidney Related to Coix Intake

        The effects of dietary Coix (Iacryma-jobi) water extract on the antioxidant enzyme activity in the liver and kidney of Sprague-Dawley rats were studied. Forty-five rats were fed for 3 weeks with either control diet or experimental diets that contain either Coix water extract or Coix water residue. Twenty percent of the carbohydrate was replaced with Coix water residue by dry weight in the water residue diet, while distilled water was replaced by Coix water extract to make a pellet-form diet in the Coix water extract diet. The levels of glutathione, glutathione-peroxidase, and glutathione-S-transferase activities in liver and kidney were measured. It has been found that glutathione, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione-S-transferase enzyme activities from liver and kidney of the rats were enhanced in the group fed with Coix water extract.

        비물질적 표현으로서 장신구아트 - <제 2의 피부로서의 장신구> 작품을 중심으로 -

        연구배경 현대 예술과 디자인에서 전개되고 있는 탈 물질적, 탈 형식적인 경향은 급속히 진행되는 정보화 사회로 인해 비물질성의 개념은 한층 더 진보하고 있다. 이러한 배경 속에서 장신구 역시 재료와 기술이 중심이 되는 기본적인 형식에서 확장되어 새로운 예술적 개념을 포괄하는 한 장르로써 인지되고 그 표현의 필요성을 인식하게 된다. 이에 본 논문은 장신구가 예술로써 확장될 때 나타날 수 있는 비물질적 개념과 표현들을 소개하고 이것이 장신구아트로서 새로운 유형으로 자리하고자 하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 연구방법 비물질성에 대한 개념과 철학적 배경의 고찰을 바탕으로 예술에서의 오브제의 비물질화 개념과 표현사례를 살펴본다. 이를 바탕으로 장신구가 예술적 개념을 수용할 때 비물질화 개념의 내포 가능성을 살피고 그 구체적인 표현사례 고찰을 토대로 연구자의 작품을 분석한다. 연구결과 장신구는 신체의 감성적 경험을 밀접하게 제공함으로써 감각의 연장체로서 인간의 정신을 드러내며 비물질성의 개념을 내포한다. 이 개념은 예술에서 나타난 오브제의 비물질화의 경향과 동일선상에서 해석될 수 있다. < Jewellery as second skin >는 장신구라는 촉매를 통해서 빛, 자국, 향기등의 비물질화되는 현상을 수용하면서 신체 그 자체로서 장신구의 개념을 갖는 무형의 탈물질적 장신구가 된다. 이는 신체와 시간의 움직임이 작용되어 소멸되는 물성을 경험하게 되면서 관념성, 소멸성, 상호작용성으로 의미화된다. 결론 연구자는 비물질적 현상을 수용하고 그로 인한 해석이 가능한 장신구아트의 표현연구를 통해 기존의 장신구가 가진 보편적인 정체성과 개념을 전복시키고 나아가 장신구가 예술로써 새로운 표현의 매체로 작용할 수 있음에 대한 가능성을 제시한다. Background Post-material and incorporeal form, the trend progressed in the modern art and design is further advanced by the de-materialism concept and with the rapidly advanced information society. With this background, jewellery is also extended from a basic form where materials and technologies are the center and recognized as a genre embracing the new artistic concepts and the need of their expression is realized. As such, this research introduces the de-material concept and expressions appearing when jewellery is extended to an art and displays that production of jewellery becomes a new genre or category. Method Based on the de-materialism concept and its philosophical background, we studied the de-materialization concept in the art objects and its expression cases. Based upon this, we studied the possibility if jewellery is able to contain a de-materialization concept, when they accept artistic concepts. Through the case studies of the detail expressed examples, we also analyze works of researchers. Results Jewellery reveals human mentality and contain the de-materialism concept as an extension of sense by providing physical sensitive expressions. And this concept can be interpreted in a line with the de-materialization trend in the art objects. < Jewellery as the second skin > accepts the phenomenon where light, mark and scent become de-materialized through the catalyst of jewellery and becomes a formless, post-material jewellery that have the concept of the human body itself. Experiencing the material property that is disappearing due to the movement of the human body and time becomes signified as ideality, extinction and interaction. Conclusion Researchers overturn the universal identity and concept of jewellery by accepting the de-material phenomena and research on expressions of jewellery art that can be interpreted based on the phenomena. Furthermore, they are able to suggest the possibility that jewellery, as a form of art, could be a new potential media of expression.

        지진재해 대책법(2008년)에 근거하여 시설물 관리 주체별로 기존 시설물에 대한 내진성능평가 및 보강방안에 대한 추진 계획이 수립되었으며 도시철도 운영기관에서도 관련계획에 의하여 내진성능 평가 및 보강방안을 수립하고 있다. 서울메트로에서 운영하고 있는-서울지하철 1~4호선은 2010년 이후 수행된 내진성능 상세평가 결과를 근거로 내진성능보강 실시설계가 진행 중이다. 도시철도 표준화 연구단에서는 표준화된 내진성능 보강시스템을 개발하여 다양한 도시철도 구조물을 대상으로 내진성능보강 시범시공을 추진하고자 시공성을 고려한 시범시공 계획을 수립하였다. 내진성능보강이 필요한 시설물에 대하여 운영기관과 협의하여 시범시공 계획을 준비 중이다. 시범시공은 서울메트로와 광주도시철도에서 운용중인 구간에 적용할 계획이다. As Earthquake Preparedness Act (2008) effected, urban transit operating authority has been planning evaluation of seismic resistance and strengthening plan. Seoul Metro, which operates on the Seoul Subway Line 1 to 4, carrying out seismic retrofit design based on the results of detailed assessment investigated after 2010. Standardized seismic retrofit research team developed a seismic retrofitting system to target a variety of urban rail structure and planed a pilot demonstration.A pilot construction will be carried in Seoul and Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit running on the Metro section and detailed design of retrofitting is conducted in this study.

        최초로 구조물에 대한 내진설계가 의무화된 1988년 이후 내진설계 규정은 강화되고 있으며, 최근에는 지진재해 대책법에 근거하여 도시철도 운영기관을 포함한 시설물 관리 주체들이 기존 시설물에 대한 내진성능평가 및 보강방안에 대한 추진 계획을 수립하여야 한다. 도시철도 시설물의 내진보강은 복잡한 시설물에 대한 시공이므로 시간적 및 공간적으로 다양한 제약 조건들이 있으며 이러한 제약 조건들을 극복할 수 있는 보강공법 및 시공법의 개발이 필요하다. 도시철도 표준화 연구과제에서는 다양한 성능평가 실험을 통하여 내진성능 보강효과가 검증된 도시철도 시설물의 내진성능 보강시스템을 개발하였다. 시범시공을 통하여 개발된 시스템의 사용성과 시공성을 검증하였으며 내진성능 보강사업에 적용할 수 있는 성능과 시공성이 검증된 내진성능 보강시스템을 제시하였다.
