        Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test For Cyclostationary Multi-Antenna Spectrum Sensing

        In this paper, a generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) is proposed for cyclostationary multi-antenna spectrum sensing in cognitive radio systems, which takes into account the cyclic autocorrelations obtained from all the receiver antennas and the cyclic cross-correlations obtained from all pairs of receiver antennas. The proposed GLRT employs a different hypotheses problem formulation and a different asymptotic covariance estimation method, which are proved to be more suitable for multi-antenna systems than those employed by the Dandawate-Giannakis algorithm. Moreover, we derive the asymptotic distributions of the proposed test statistics, and prove the constant false alarm rate property of the proposed algorithm. Extensive simulations are conducted, showing that the proposed GLRT can achieve better detection performance than the Dandawate-Giannakis algorithm and its extension for multi-antenna cases.

        Study on Seismic Response Characteristics and Design Parameters of Composite Isolation System for Rural Buildings

        The seismic capacity of rural buildings is low and effective execution of the traditional seismic measures is difficult. Therefore, a new type of composite isolation system, which is suitable for rural buildings in frozen earth regions, is proposed in this work. The design parameters and dynamic response characteristics of this system under rare earthquakes were investigated via systematic dynamic elastic-plastic time-history analyses performed on four different types of models. These models were established by the finite element software ABAQUS, and a composite isolation structure, sliding isolation structure, sand cushion isolation structure, and traditional masonry structure were considered. Afterward, the seismic response characteristics and design parameters of the composite isolation system were obtained by comparing the dynamic response analysis results (acceleration, displacement, and bottom shearing force) of each model. The best isolation effect was realized for the composite isolation system, where the seismic energy can be effectively absorbed and the impact of frost heaving on buildings can be eliminated. Furthermore, this effect will improve with decreasing friction coefficient of the sliding layer and increasing seismic intensity. Based on the preset isolation rate of 40%, the design values of the friction coefficient were determined to be 0.1–0.35, which are appropriate for high-seismic-intensity regions.

        Efficacy evaluation of novel organic iron complexes in laying hens: effects on laying performance, egg quality, egg iron content, and blood biochemical parameters

        Objective: This study was conducted to determine the optimal dose of novel iron amino acid complexes (Fe-Lys-Glu) by measuring laying performance, egg quality, egg iron (Fe) concentrations, and blood biochemical parameters in laying hens. Methods: A total of 1,260 18-week-old healthy Beijing White laying hens were randomly divided into 7 groups with 12 replicates of 15 birds each. After a 2-wk acclimation to the basal diet, hens were fed diets supplemented with 0 (negative control, the analyzed innate iron content was 75.06 mg/kg), 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 mg Fe/kg as Fe-Lys-Glu or 45 mg Fe/kg from FeSO<sub>4</sub> (positive control) for 24 wk. Results: Results showed that compared with the negative and positive control groups, dietary supplementation with 30 to 75 mg Fe/kg from Fe-Lys-Glu significantly (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) increased the laying rate (LR) and average daily egg weight (ADEW); hens administered 45 to 75 mg Fe/kg as Fe-Lys-Glu showed a remarkable (linear, p<0.05) decrease in feed conversion ratio. There were no significant differences among all groups in egg quality. The iron concentrations in egg yolk and serum were elevated by increasing Fe-Lys-Glu levels, and the highest iron content was found in 75 mg Fe/kg group. In addition, hens fed 45 mg Fe/kg from Fe-Lys-Glu had (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) higher yolk Fe contents than that with the same dosage of FeSO<sub>4</sub> supplementation. The red blood cell (RBC) count and hemoglobin content (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) increased obviously in the groups fed with 30 to 75 mg Fe/kg as Fe-Lys-Glu in comparison with the control group. Fe-Lys-Glu supplementation also (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) enhanced the activity of copper/zinc-superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD) in serum, as a result, the serum malonaldehyde content (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) decreased in hens received 60 to 75 mg Fe/kg as Fe-Lys-Glu. Conclusion: Supplementation Fe-Lys-Glu in laying hens could substitute for FeSO<sub>4</sub> and the optimal additive levels of Fe-Lys-Glu are 45 mg Fe/kg in layers diets based on the quadratic regression analysis of LR, ADEW, RBC, and Cu/Zn-SOD.

        Synthesis of carbon/P-zeolite composites from coal gasification fine slag and studies on adsorption characteristics for methylene blue

        Carbon/P-zeolite composites (CPZCs) were synthesized by high-temperature activation followed by hydrothermal crystallization using waste coal gasification fine slag as the raw material and NaOH as the activator. Methylene blue was selected as a dye pollutant for the adsorption experiment to investigate the adsorption property of the carbon/P-zeolite composites. It was found that the structure of CPZCs mainly depended on the mass ratio of NaOH to the coal gasification slag. At a proper NaOH to the coal gasification fine slag mass ratio of 1.0, the as-synthesized CPZC-1.0 exhibited a typical Na-P zeolite structure with a relatively high specific surface area of 200 m2/g and pore volume of 0.21 cm3/g. CPZC-1.0 showed excellent performance on methylene blue adsorption, with the adsorption capacity reaching 130 mg/g with removal efficiency of 81.6% at 303 K for the 100 mg/L initial methylene blue solution. The calculation results of adsorption thermodynamics indicated that the adsorption process to methylene blue by CPZCs was a spontaneous and entropy-driven endothermic process. Based on the above research, it is speculated that the adsorption mechanism of CPZCs to methylene blue might be due to the van der Waals force, intermolecular hydrogen bond and electrostatic attraction between Na-P zeolite and methylene blue.

        Effects of crude extracted proteins from supernatant of BCF-P and EGF on acid secretion

        I n order to compare the in vitro effects of crude extracts of broth culture filtrate protein (BCF-P) from the supernatant of an H. pylori liquid culture and epidermal growth factor (EGF) on acid secretion by isolated rabbit gastric parietal cells. Isolated rabbit gastric parietal cells were incubated with BCF-P or EGF for 1 and 12 h. Morphological changes were assessed by electron microscopy, and 14C-aminopyrine (14C-AP) uptake and H+-K+ATP mRNA expression were measured. At 50 μg/mL, BCF-P stimulated acid secretion by parietal cells (P<0.05) at 1 h but not at 12 h. At 100 μg/mL, BCF-P significantly inhibited histamine-stimulated acid secretion (P<0.05) and decreased H+- K+ATP mRNA expression in parietal cells, but it was reversed after EGF exposure. Crude extracted proteins from BCF-P damaged the inner cell membrane structure of parietal cells, reduced H+-K+ATP gene expression, and inhibited acid secretion, activities that differed markedly from those of EGF.

        Downregulation of Human DAB2IP Gene Expression in Renal Cell Carcinoma Results in Resistance to Ionizing Radiation

        <P><B>Purpose:</B></P><P>Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is known to be highly radioresistant but the mechanisms associated with radioresistance have remained elusive. We found DOC-2/DAB2 interactive protein (DAB2IP) frequently downregulated in RCC, is associated with radioresistance. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism regulating radioresistance by DAB2IP and developed appropriate treatment.</P><P><B>Experimental Design:</B></P><P>Several RCC lines with or without DAB2IP expression were irradiated with ionizing radiation (IR) for determining their radiosensitivities based on colony formation assay. To investigate the underlying regulatory mechanism of DAB2IP, immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry was performed to identify DAB2IP-interactive proteins. PARP-1 expression and enzymatic activity were determined using qRT-PCR, Western blot analysis, and ELISA. <I>In vivo</I> ubiquitination assay was used to test PARP-1 degradation. Furthermore, <I>in vivo</I> mice xenograft model and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model were used to determine the effect of combination therapy to sensitizing tumors to IR.</P><P><B>Results:</B></P><P>We notice that DAB2IP-deficient RCC cells acquire IR-resistance. Mechanistically, DAB2IP can form a complex with PARP-1 and E3 ligases that is responsible for degrading PARP-1. Indeed, elevated PARP-1 levels are associated with the IR resistance in RCC cells. Furthermore, PARP-1 inhibitor can enhance the IR response of either RCC xenograft model or PDX model.</P><P><B>Conclusions:</B></P><P>In this study, we unveil that loss of DAB2IP resulted in elevated PARP-1 protein is associated with IR-resistance in RCC. These results provide a new targeting strategy to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy of RCC.</P>

        Crystallization and melting behavior of polypropylene in b-PP/polyamide 6 blends containing PP-g-MA

        In this research, we used a twin-screw extruder to melt and blend PP-g-MA compatibilizer with bpolypropylene (PP)/polyamide 6 (PA6). The influences of the PA6 and PP-g-MA contents in PP/PA6 blends on crystallization and melting behavior of PP phase and morphology were investigated. The results showed that, when PP-g-MA copolymer was added to the b form of nucleated PP/PA6 blends, the anhydride groups in PP-g-MA and PA6 terminal amine groups react to form PP-g-PA graft copolymer in a two-phase interface. This reduces the interfacial tension, improves the interfacial adhesion, and reduces the size of PA6 domains in the blend. The generated PP-g-PA graft copolymer wrapped PA6 phase and buried the anhydride groups of PP-g-MA. When the proportion of PP-g-MA and PA6 was between 0.5 and 0.75, there was no longer interfering to the formation of b-crystals in the PP phase. The content of bcrystal of PP phase in blends was found to reach as large as 85.9%.
