Vol.6 No.4

This study is a qualitative study to find out the perception of counseling experts on scientific attitudes. To this end, the scientist-practitioner model, a type of an expert development model, was used to present scientific attitudes in the unified direction of science and practice, and in here, the scientific attitude means an attitude of the counselor to critically think about their counseling with curiosity. When the counselor has the scientific attitude, it helps the counselor respond to the client’s current situation rationally and providein-depth counseling. In this study, a phenomenological research method was used to collect, analyze and interpret the meaning of data through interviews with nine participants. As a result, the 22 sub-factors were classified into 6 higher categories of ‘open attitude of the counselor’,’objective attitude of the counselor’,’patient attitude of the counselor’,’creative attitude of the counselor’,’critical attitude of the counselor’ and’reasonable attitude of the counselor’ The purpose of this study is to enable counselors to have a scientific attitude so that they can handle the client’s problems most appropriately and wisely in the current situation, and to enable more in-depth counseling. Also, it is meaningful that the study results can provide data helpful to beginner counselors who are walking the path to become counseling experts and those working in various fields.

Vol.23 No.3

In this study, the characteristics in the simulation of high-resolution coastal weather, i.e. sea surface wind (SSW) and significant wave height (SWH), were studied in a southeastern coastal region of Korea using the WRF and SWAN models. This analyses was performed based on the effects of various input factors in the WRF and SWAN model during M-Case (moderate days with average 1.8 m SWH and 8.4 ms(-1) SSW) and R-Case (rough days with average 3.4 m SWH and 13.0 ms(-1) SSW) according to the strength of SSW and SWH. The effects of topography (TP), land cover (LC), and sea surface temperature (SST) for the simulation of SSW with the WRF model were somewhat high on v-component winds along the coastline and the adjacent sea of a more detailed grid simulation (333 m) during R-Case. The LC effect was apparent in all grid simulations during both cases regardless of the strength of SSW, whereas the TP effect had shown a difference (decrease or increase) of wind speed according to the strength of SSW (M-Case or R-Case). In addition, the effects of monthly mean currents (CR) and deepwater design waves (DW) for the simulation of SWH with the SWAN model predicted good agreement with observed SWH during R-Case compared to the M-Case. For example, the effects of CR and DW contributed to the increase of SWH during R-Case regardless of grid resolution, whereas the differences (decrease or increase) of SWH occurred according to each effect (CR or DW) during M-Case.

Anti-Helicobacter pylori effects of IgY from egg york of immunized hens

        Yun-Hui Yang,Dongsun Park,Goeun Yang,Sun Hee Lee,Dae Kwon Bae,Jangbeen Kyung,Dajeong Kim,Ehn-Kyoung Choi,Jae-Cheol Son,Seock-Yeon Hwang,Yun-Bae Kim 한국실험동물학회 2012 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.28 No.1

Effects of egg york containing IgY specific for Helicobacter pylori on the bacterial growth and intragastric infection were investigated in comparison with a proton-pump inhibitor pantoprazole. For in vitro antibacterial activity test, H. pylori (1*108 CFU/mL) was incubated with a serially diluted IgY for 3 days. As a result, IgY fully inhibited the bacterial growth at 16 mg/mL, which was determined to a minimal inhibitory concentration. In vivo elimination study, male C57BL/6 mice were infected with the bacteria by intragastric inoculation (1*108 CFU/mouse) 3 times at 2-day intervals, and 2 weeks later, orally treated twice a day with 50, 100, 200 or 500 mg/kg IgY for 18 days. After the final administration, biopsy sample of the gastric mucosa was assayed for the bacterial identification via urease, oxidase, catalase, nitrate reduction and H2S tests in addition to microscopic examination for mucosal inflammation. In CLO kit test, 75, 50, 12.5 and 12.5% of the animals revealed positive reaction following treatment with 50, 100, 200 and 500 mg/kg IgY, respectively, resulting in a superior efficacy at 200 mg/kg than 30 mg/kg pantoprazole that displayed 75% elimination. The CLO test results were confirmed by bacterial identification. Microscopic examination revealed that H. pylori infection caused severe gastric mucosal inflammation, which were not observed in the CLO-negative mice following treatment with IgY or pantoprazole. Taken together, IgY inhibited the growth of H. pylori, and improved gastritis and villi injuries by eliminating the bacteria from the stomach. The results indicate that IgY could be a good candidate overcoming tolerance of antibiotics for the treatment of H. pylori-mediated gastric ulcers.
