Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the flexibility of high school baseball players’ LBP Group and bilateral lower extremity muscles. Method: This study conducted a questionnaire survey and measurement of muscle flexibility targeting 23 high school baseball players in Korea. The questionnaire consisted of 7 items on basic information and 4 items on past and present back pain, and muscle flexibility measurement (Tomas test, Hip extension, HBD, SLR, Trunk rotation) tests were conducted. As for the data processing of this study, the mean and standard deviation of all questions were calculated by using the SPSS 26.0 package. The two-way ANOVA was performed to examine the effect of each measurement according to the LBP Group (LBP; presence or absence) × both sides (dominant, non-dominant), and if an interaction was found, the post hoc test was conducted. The independent sample t-test and paired t-test were performed for the post hoc verification. The statistical significance level was based on p<.05. Results: As a result of the Thomas test conducted for the LBP Group and both sides of the lower extremity mus-cle flexibility, the both sides of the main effect turned out to be significant [F(1,21)=4.905, p<.05]. In the case of the hip extension, the main effect of both sides turned out to be significant [F(1,21)=6.768, p<.05], and the main effect of the LBP Group also turned out to be significant [F[(1,21)=5.065, p<.05]. Furthermore, in the case of the SLR, the main effect of the LBP Group turned out to be significant [F(1,21)=5.395, p<.05]. Conclusion: Gathering the results above, as a cause of the LBP among the high school baseball players, there is a possibility that a decrease in flexibility due to hip flexion and extensor tension may be induced, and hence, the possibility of inducing LBP was confirmed due to the excessive use of the back muscles of the accelerator dur-ing the pitching and hitting sections. In the future studies, it is necessary to develop and apply the programs which can prevent and rehabilitate the LBP.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Majority opinions are often observed in the process of social interaction in online communities, but few studies have addressed this issue with empirical data. To identify an appropriate theoretical lens for explaining majority opinions in online environments, this study investigates the skewness statistic, which indicates how many “Likes” are skewed to major comments on a Facebook post; 3489 posts are gathered from the New York Times Facebook page for 100 days. Results show that time is not an influential factor for skewness increase, but the number of comments has a logarithmic relation to skewness increase. Regression models and Chow tests show that this relationship differs depending on topic contents, but majority opinions are significant in overall. These results suggest that the bandwagon effect due to social affordance can be a suitable mechanism for explaining majority opinion formation in an online environment and that majority opinions in online communities can be misperceived due to overestimation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This study investigates how major opinions are constructed in online environments. </LI> <LI> Skewness statistic is adopted to describe distributional property of the Likes of comments on a Facebook post. </LI> <LI> The skewness statistic is logarithmically changed by the number of comments on a post. </LI> <LI> The results show that bandwagon effect is more suitable mechanism to explain the major opinion construction in online environments. </LI> <LI> This study discusses how the bandwagon effect can be afforded from the social affordance perspective. </LI> </UL> </P>

Mushroom survey and collection were conducted in the Dong Hua Sao National Biodiversity Conservation Area (DHSNBCA), which is located about 30 km east of Pakse and about 10 km south of the town of Paksong, Champasak Province of Lao-PDR, from from at the early July to October in 2019. During this periods, mushroom specimens were collected from 6 different locations, and then they were identified and classified into 103 species, 74 genera, 37 families, 15 orders and 6 classes by morphological and molecular analyses. The mushrooms belongs to Ascomycota were classified into 10 species, 6 genera, 4 families, 3 orders and 2 classes, while those belongs to Basidiomycota were classified into 92 species, 67 genera, 32 families, 11 orders, and 3 classes, respectively. In addition, 1 species of Myxomycota was also identified. Among these mushrooms, the most species-rich families are Marasmiaceae (17.3%), Polyporaceae (13.1%), Mycenaceae (8.9%), Agricaceae (8.3%), Xylariaceae (6.5%), Auriculariaceae (4.8%), Ganodermtaceae (3.6%), Dacrymycetaceae (3.0%), Meruliaceae (3.0%), Russulaceae (3.0%) and comprised 71.4% of the total specimens identified.

Intratumoral hypoxia has been correlated with distant metastatic potential. Two hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs). HIF-1α and HIF-2α, are induced by hypoxia, and high expression of these proteins has been correlated to angiogenesis and distant metastasis. Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) is frequently highly expressed in cancer, and this overexpression correlates with malignant progression. The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical correlation of HIF-α with Tβ4 and the intracellular functional roles of Tβ4 on HIF-α activation. We examined HIF-1α, HlF-2α and Tβ4 expressions in clinical human breast carcinoma (n=70) by immunohisto-chemistry. We show that high expression of HIF-1α and HIF-2α strongly correlates with Tβ4 expression (P≤0.0001) and overexpression of Tβ4 correlates significantly with patients with lymph node metastasis (P<0.05) of human breast cancer. Additionally, we demonstrate that hypoxia up-regulates intracellular Tβ4 protein, which then affects HIF-α activity, which is the key in regulating VEGF expression. We confirmed that hypoxia-induced intracellular Tβ4 and HIF-α activities were reduced by interference of TIM expression using Tβ4 shRNA lentivirus. Vascular epidermal growth factor (VEGF)-A, a well-recognized lymphangiogenic cytokine, was also down-regulated, but VEGF-C and VEGF-D expressions were not affected. These findings suggest that the overexpression of Tβ4 is strongly associated with HIF-1α and HIF-2α expression and is also clinicopathologically involved with lymph node metastatic potential of breast cancer through the modulation of HIF-a activation and induction of VEGF-A. Ultimately, these results highlight Tβ4 as a potentially therapeutic target in malignant cancers.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Autonomous vehicles are expected to be commercialized within a few years, and researchers have investigated various factors that influence their adoption. However, only a few studies have considered comparative and psychological perspectives that can affect user-vehicle relationships. Focusing on this limitation, this study investigates influential factors on the use of autonomous vehicles in terms of a technology acceptance model (which considers perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intention to use) and factors for autonomous vehicle use (e.g., perceived risk, relative advantage, self-efficacy, and psychological ownership (i.e., feeling of ownership)). Our results show that self-efficacy positively affects the perceived ease of use and intention to use, while the relative advantage affects perceived usefulness. Psychological ownership affects the intention to use but not the perceived usefulness. This implies that encouraging a consumer to form a psychological bond (i.e., psychological ownership) with an autonomous vehicle may be an effective strategy for promoting the use of autonomous vehicles.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This study examines influential factors for intention to use autonomous vehicles. </LI> <LI> System and psychology level factors are identified by literature reviews. </LI> <LI> Perceived risk affects intention to use without any effects of antecedents. </LI> <LI> Self-efficacy is presented to affect perceived ease of use and intention to use. </LI> <LI> Psychological ownership significantly affects intention to use. </LI> </UL> </P>

It is well known that UVB (290–320 nm) induces inflammation in skin by the transcription and release of cytokines and chemokines from skin keratinocytes. In addition, it is considered that intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays an important role in UVB-induced inflammatory response in the skin. Therefore, we investigated the effect of vitamin C, a potent antioxidant, on the regulation of UVB-induced skin inflammation via the modulation of chemokines production. Vitamin C uptake into keratinocytes is increased by UVB irradiation in a time- and dose-dependent manner through the translocation of sodium-dependent vitamin C transporter-1 (SVCT-1), a vitamin C-specific transporter, from the cytosol to the membrane. To evaluate the effect of vitamin C on the chemokine mRNA expression, we performed RNase protection assay. As a result, there was a remarkable change in chemokine mRNA expression, especially IL-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 expression. In addition, increased IL-8 and MCP-1 mRNA expressions were suppressed by vitamin C treatment. We also confirmed the results of protein levels measured by ELISA. Taken together, vitamin C uptake is increased in UVB-irradiated keratinocytes through the translocation of SVCT-1 and regulates inflammatory response in the skin via the downregulation of IL-8 and MCP-1 production.Journal of Investigative Dermatology (2007) 127, 698–706. doi:10.1038/sj.jid.5700572; published online 28 September 2006
