DYNAMIC MODEL PREDICTING OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY IN KOREAN ADOLESCENTS

Adolescent obesity has a high risk of developing into adult obesity and may cause many psychological problems. This paper aims at giving a mathematical model for the obesity of Korean adolescents and predicting how much the prevalence of obesity among adolescents will increase using real data. We estimate that the obesity rate of boys will increase until about 28 ~ 29% in 2025.

일제강점기 도리이류조(鳥居龍藏)의 충북지역 인류학 조사 사진 분석

조선총독부는 한반도에 대한 통치기반을 공고히 하기 위해 강점 초기에 각종 조사사업을 실시하였다. 여러 일본인 학자가 이 조사에 촉탁의 형태로 동원되었는데, 인류학 전공자인 도리 이류조도 그 중 하나이다. 그는 1911~1932년 사이에 한반도에서 고고학·인류학 조사를 하였는데, ‘체격측정’의 기록으로 남아있는 체질인류학 조사는 1911~1916년에 집중되었다. 그가 실시한 조사 기록은 사진과 목록으로 국립중앙박물관에 남아있다. 이 글은 이 자료 중 그가 남긴 충북지역 주민의 사진자료에 대한 분석을 중심으로 한 것이다. 충북지역 주민들에 대한 체질인류학 조사는 1915년 10월에 진행되었다. 그는 당시 충북의 10개 군 중 7개 군에서 일반적 성인남녀(규모가 있는 4개 군은 백정 포함)에 대한 체질인류학 조사용 사진들을 촬영했다. 사진 외에는 체질인류학 조사에 대한 다른 기록이 남아있지 않기 때문에 사진만을 토대로 당시 상황에 대한 분석을 할 수 있었다. 촬영된 사진을 근거로 당시의 근대화 정도를 유추해 본다면, 여자보다 남자가, 시골보다 도시가, 백정보다 일반 주민이 외형적으로는 더 근대화 되었다. 지역적으로는 전통적 도회지 지역이나 철도가 부설되어 근대문물이 빨리 유입되었던 곳에서 근대화가 더 빨리 진행되었던 것으로 보인다. 또한 관습적으로 남아있는 백정에 대한 차별의 흔적을 사진을 통해 읽을 수 있다. 이 글의 분석은 도리이류조가 남긴 충북지역 주민들의 사진을 대상으로 하였기 때문에 이를 한반도 전체로 확대하여 일반화하기에는 무리가 있겠지만, 당시 그의 한반도지역 주민들을 대상 으로 실시한 체질인류학 조사의 일면을 살펴볼 수 있다는 점에는 의의가 있을 것이다. 도리이류조가 남긴 사진들은 체질인류학적으로 긍정적 의미가 있을지 모르나, 당시 피지배민 족을 대하는 지배민족의 시선이 사진을 통해 드러난다는 점에서 그의 사진이 우리에게 전하는 의미는 일본인들과 다를 것이다. In early Japanese-Ruled Period, Japanese Government General of Korea conducted various survey projects to ensure groundwork for colonial rule for the Korean Peninsula. Torii Ryuzo, an anthropologist, was one of the Japanese scholars who were brought to the survey in form of commission. He conducted archeological & anthropological surveys at the Korean Peninsula in 1911~ 1932, and physical anthropological survey, recorded as body measurement, was concentrated in 1911~1916. His survey records are at National Museum of Korea as photos and lists. This essay is concentrated on analysis about ‘Photos of Chung Buk people’ that he remained. Physical anthropological survey about Chung Buk people was conducted in October 1915. He took photos of normal adult men and women in 7 district of total 10 district, including Paekjong(depressed classes) at 4 large district, for physical anthropological survey. It was able to analyze situation at that time because there was no other physique measurement records except photos. As we infer modernization at that time based on the photos, men have become more modern than women, more urban than rural districts, and more normal citizen than Paekjong. The modernization progressed faster in traditional urban district or in district where modern civilization quickly flowed into it because of railroads. Also, we can notice a conventional discrimination against Paekjong by the photos. It is unreasonable to generalize this to the whole the Korean Peninsula because the analysis of this essay is based on the photos of Chung Buk people by Torii Ryuzo, but it is worthy to learn about some part of Physical anthropological survey conducted by the Korean Peninsula residents at that time.Maybe, his photos have positive meanings in Physical anthropology. But in our view, the meaning of his photos won t be same with japanese because we can notice how rules treat ruled in the photos.

상업계 고등학교 수학교과서의 재구성이 학습자에게 미치는 영향

Many questions have been raised about mathematical education in vocational high schools. In this study, we have reorganized a typical mathematics textbook used in vocational high schools to check if this reorganization could be effective in students' leaning. We also examined students' feeling about this. Contrary to our expectations, we could not find any noticeable differences in students' achievement. But we found that students with a high grade tend to major in mathematics-related subjects.

We used blood data to predict obesity by complementing the BMI risk, because some blood factors are significantly associated with obesity. For the sampling method, a two-step stratified colony sampling method was used based on sixteen blood factors collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES). We identify the number of effective blood data of obesity in the final model as 6 ∼ 8 factors that differ somewhat depending on age and gender. Also, the coefficient of determination that represents the predictive power of obesity in the regression model is the highest for both men and women of aged 19 and in their 20s and 30s, and the predictive power decreases with increasing age.

OPTIMAL CONTROL ANALYSIS FOR THE MERS-COV OUTBREAK

This paper presents the mathematical model for the MERS-CoV outbreak in South Korea, and the optimal control for two intervention strategies (contact, hospitalization) is implemented. After the MERS-CoV outbreak, hospitalizing infected individuals did not help to prevent the spread of infection. However, the intervention to control contact was effective. It was effective the intervention to controlling both of contact and hospitalization of infection population.
