Part Ⅳ : Smart High-tech House as a Large-scale Care Robot for the Elderly and Disabled People
Zeungnam Bien,Jun-Hyeong Do,Jin-Woo Jung,Dae-Jin Kim,Dimitar H. Stefanov 한국과학기술원 인간친화 복지 로봇 시스템 연구센터 2004 International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Me Vol.5 No.4
This paper discusses some new concepts for design of smart house as a large-scale care robot for the elderly and disabled persons. At first, the concept of the "smart house" is introduced. Then, we comment on the typical structure of the smart house and give various examples for home arrangements that suit to elderly or physically impaired people. Finally, we talk about the special home installed technology that relates to health care/monitoring and safety/security issues.
Design of Fuzzy Logic Controller Based on Conflict-Inconsistent Rules
Zeungnam Bien,Wansik Yu 대한전자공학회 1992 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.1992 No.10
Conflicting or inconsistent rules sometimes help us to represent the control actions of an expert more freely. Also, uncertainties about the control actions of the expert may render rules with conclusions whose membership functions have different width in their shapes. Conventional inference methods for FLC may not effectively handle such inconsistencies and/or rules containing such conclusions. In this paper, an effective inference method dealing with such If-Then rules is proposed.
Part Ⅲ : Human-friendly Human-Robot Interaction Techniques and Hand Gesture
Zeungnam Bien,Hyoyoung Jang,Dae-Jin Kim,Jin-Woo Jung 한국과학기술원 인간친화 복지 로봇 시스템 연구센터 2004 International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Me Vol.5 No.4
This paper discusses the topic on human-friendly human-robot interaction techniques and its application using hand gesture. The human-robot interaction and soft computing techniques as tools to implement it are reviewed. Also presented are the soft remocon system, which is the Korean sign language application systems that recognizes hand-signals, and a sign generator system of TV caption signal.
Part Ⅱ: Rehabilitation Robots with special attention to Design of Wheelchair-based Robots
Zeungnam Bien,Dae-Jin Kim,Jin-Woo Jung 한국과학기술원 인간친화 복지 로봇 시스템 연구센터 2004 International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Me Vol.5 No.3
This paper discusses the topic on rehabilitation robots with special attention to design of wheelchair-based robots. First, we review the meaning of rehabilitation robots. The classes of rehabilitation robots are also explained according to their tasks and objectives. Among many types of rehabilitation robots, the wheelchair-based robot is to be discussed in detail and a novel-type wheelchair-based robot named KARES-Ⅱ is introduced. The design process and trial results of KARES-Ⅱ are also presented.
