        Optimization of Anthraquinone Dyes Decolorization Conditions with Response Surface Methodology by Aspergillus

        A large amount of dye wastewater poses a threat to environmental safety. Disperse blue, an anthraquinone dye that is widely used in textile dyes, is difficult to degrade in wastewater. In this work, one fungus was screened according to the decolorization rate of disperse blue. The fungus was identified and named Aspergillus XJ-2 on the basis of its morphological characteristics and 18s rDNA. Response surface method was used to optimize culture conditions for A. XJ-2. The optimum values of obtained responses were as follows: temperature, 35 °C; pH, 5.2; carbon-to nitrogen ratio, 30:5.5; and rotation ratio, 175 r·min-1. Under optimized conditions, the decolorization rate of A. XJ-2 was up to 94.8% in 48 h.

        Two new triterpenoid saponins derived from the leaves of Panax ginseng and their antiinflammatory activity

        Background: The leaves and roots of Panax ginseng are rich in ginsenosides. However, the chemical compositionsof the leaves and roots of P. ginseng differ, resulting in different medicinal functions. In recent years,the aerial parts of members of the Panax genus have received great attention fromnatural product chemistsas producers of bioactive ginsenosides. The aim of this study was the isolation and structural elucidation ofnovel, minor ginsenosides in the leaves of P. ginseng and evaluation of their antiinflammatory activity in vitro. Methods: Various chromatographic techniques were applied to obtain pure individual compounds, andtheir structures were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution mass spectrometry,as well as chemical methods. The antiinflammatory effect of the new compounds was evaluated onlipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Results and conclusions: Two novel, minor triterpenoid saponins, ginsenoside LS1 (1) and 5,6-didehydroginsenoside Rg3 (2), were isolated from the leaves of P. ginseng. The isolated compounds 1and 2 were assayed for their inhibitory effect on nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7cells, and Compound 2 showed a significant inhibitory effect with IC50 of 37.38 mM compared with that ofNG-monomethyl-L-arginine (IC50 ¼ 90.76 mM). Moreover, Compound 2 significantly decreased secretionof cytokines such as prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor-a. In addition, Compound 2 significantlysuppressed protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2. These resultssuggested that Compound 2 could be used as a valuable candidate for medicinal use or functional food,and the mechanism is warranted for further exploration.

        A 16 GHz 1-511 Broadband Programmable Frequency Divider

        A high-speed broadband programmable frequency divider chip is designed and implemented in 0.18 μm SiGe BiCMOS process. The chip is based on the 2/3 dual-mode frequency divider, and integrates high-speed logic operation and reset control in the flip-flop to achieve a wide range of continuous integer frequency division ratio. Taking SCFL and CML DFF as basic units, it realizes wide-band operation and obtains a good input sensitivity range. The test results demonstrate that the operating frequency covers 0.1 GHz to 16 GHz. The frequency divider achieves 1-511 continuous frequency division. The output signal phase noise of the 1 GHz input is -153.7 dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz offset in divide-by-8 mode.

        Detection of Cucumber Powdery Mildew Based on Spectral and Image Information

        Purpose The aim of this study was to fi nd the optimal detection method for cucumber powdery mildew and improve the identifi cation effi ciency. Methods Image segmentation technology was used to extract spot images and grade classifi cation of powdery mildew. The relationship between powdery mildew spot and spectral refl ectance and intensity was studied. The powdery mildew detection model was established by using qualitative analysis and quantitative prediction methods combined with greenness ( a* ) indices of cucumber leaves. Results There were strong positive correlations between greenness and spectrum in some characteristic bands. Through the extraction of disease spot images and disease classifi cation, it was found that the higher the disease grade of leaves was, the higher the spectral refl ectivity and fl uorescence intensity. In the quantitative prediction model, the R 2 of the NIR spectrum was improved (0.8742) after MSC and SPA, and the eff ect of the fl uorescence spectrum model was not ideal. In the qualitative discriminant model, KNN and ensemble subspace discriminant were obtained for two kinds of spectra, and the identifi cation accuracy of the qualitative model was 97.5% after verifi cation. Conclusion An NIR spectral model can be used for the quantitative prediction of cucumber powdery mildew. The qualitative discriminant model had high accuracy for cucumber powdery mildew.

        A 2 GS/s, 6-bit DAC for UWB Applications In 0.18 ㎛ CMOS Technology

        To satisfy higher and higher transmission rate and broadband requirement of modern communication, high-speed, low-resolution Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) becomes the key element. In this paper, the design of a 2 GS/s, 6 bit DAC without calibration for Ultra-wideband (UWB) applications, is presented. The DAC is based on current steering architecture and is segmented with 4 bit unary and 2 bit binary. To realize larger linear range and fast switching, the source degeneration switch is designed instead of the traditional differential switch. The DAC is designed and taped-out in SMIC 0.18 ㎜ CMOS technology and the area is 975 ㎛´ 775 ㎛. The wafer bonding measurement results shows that the DNL is 0.11 LSB, INL is 0.25 LSB. Under a clock frequency of 2 ㎓, the DAC can achieve a SFDR of 51 ㏈ for input signal of 6㎒, and a SFDR of 32.4 ㏈ for Nyquist input while the power consumption is 79 ㎽.

        A 32.2 GHz Full Adder Designed with TLE Method in a InP DHBT Technology

        Ultra-high-speed full adder is the bottleneck in a tens of GHz Direct digital synthesizer (DDS). In this paper, a 32.2 GHz, 1bit full adder in a 0.7 μm InP double hetero-junction bipolar transistor (DHBT) technology is presented. In such a high-speed circuit, signal integrity is a crucial issue. Therefore, a transmission line equivalent (TLE) method is proposed. With the TLE method, the design of the full adder could be simplified with good accuracy. The synchronous latch is combined with adding operation to improve the calculation speed. A single-level parallel-gated circuit is designed using majority decision algorithm to reduce power consumption. Measurement results show that the maximum clock frequency of the full adder is 32.2-GHz, and the overall power consumption is 350 mW. The full adder is successfully adopted in a 17 GHz, 8 bit DDS which can synthesize sin-wave outputs from 66.41 MHz to 8.5 GHz in 66.41 MHz steps with an average Spurious-Free Dynamic Range (SFDR) of -18.1 dBc.

        Multi-channel 5Gb/s/ch SERDES with Emphasis on Integrated Novel Clocking Strategies

        Two novel clocking strategies for a high-speed multi-channel serializer-deserializer (SERDES) are proposed in this paper. Both of the clocking strategies are based on groups, which facilitate flexibility and expansibility of the SERDES. One clocking strategy is applicable to moderate parallel I/O cases, such as high density, short distance, consistent media, high temperature variation, which is used for the serializer array. Each group within the strategy consists of full-rate phase-locked loop (PLL), a full-rate delay-locked loop (DLL), and t재 fixed phase alignment (FPA) techniques. The other is applicable to more awful I/O cases such as higher speed, longer distance, inconsistent media, serious crosstalk, which is used for the deserializer array. Each group within the strategy is composed of a PLL and two DLLs. Moreover, a half-rate version is chosen to realize the desired function of 1:2 deserializer. Based on the proposed clocking strategies, two representative ICs for each group of SERDES are designed and fabricated in a standard 0.18㎛ CMOS technology. Measurement results indicate that the two SERDES ICs can work properly accompanied with their corresponding clocking strategies.

        Bacillus daqingensis sp. nov., a Halophilic, Alkaliphilic Bacterium Isolated from Saline-Sodic Soil in Daqing, China

        An alkaliphilic, moderately halophilic, bacterium, designated strain X10-1T, was isolated from saline-alkaline soil in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, China. Strain X10-1T was determined to be a Gram-positive aerobe with rod-shaped cells. The isolate was catalase-positive, oxidase-negative, non-motile, and capable of growth at salinities of 0–16% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 3%). The pH range for growth was 7.5–11.0 (optimum, pH 10.0). The genomic DNA G+C content was 47.7 mol%. Its major isoprenoid quinone was MK-7 and its cellular fatty acid profile mainly consisted of anteiso-C15:0, anteiso-C17:0, iso-C15:0, C16:0, and iso-C16:0. The peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid. The predominant polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and phosphatidylglycerol. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that X10-1T is a member of the genus Bacillus, being most closely related to B. saliphilus DSM15402T (97.8% similarity) and B. agaradhaerens DSM 8721T (96.2%). DNA-DNA relatedness to the type strains of these species was less than 40%. On the basis of the phylogenetic, physiological, and biochemical data, strain X10-1T represents a novel species of the genus Bacillus, for which the name Bacillus daqingensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is X10-1T (=NBRC 109404T =CGMCC 1.12295T).
