스마트홈 대화형 인터페이스의 의인화 효과

이 연구는 인간성의 개념과 구성 요인들을 스마트 홈 맥락에서 대화형 에이전트에 적용하여, 의인화의 수준과 인터랙션 유형이 사용자 감성 경험과 향후 이용 의도에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 실험연구를 통한 분석 결과 의인화의 고-저 수준과 인터랙션의 음성-채팅 유형은 친밀도, 호감도, 향후 이용 의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 의인화 수준이 높고, 음성 인터랙션인 경우 대화형 에이전트를 더 친밀하고 호감이 가며 향후에도 계속해서 이용하고 싶은 대상으로 평가하였다. 또한, 의인화의 고-저 수준과 관계없이, 채팅에 비해 음성 인터랙션이 심리적 저항감이 낮았다. 향후 이용 의도에 대해서 의인화 수준과 인터랙션 유형의 상호작용 효과가 발견되었다. 즉, 채팅 인터랙션은 의인화의 효과가 나타나지 않은 반면, 음성 인터랙션의 경우 의인화의 효과가 나타났다. 따라서, 음성 대화형 스마트홈 에이전트는 의인화 수준을 높이는 방향으로 설계가 되어야 사용자들의 지속적 이용을 기대할 수 있다. Applying the concept and components of human nature to the conversational agent in the smart home context, this study investigated the effects of the level of anthropomorphism and interaction type on the emotional user experiences and future use intention. The results of experiment study showed that the high-low condition of anthropomorphism and the voice-chatting interaction type have impacts on the perceived closeness, likability, and future use intention. That is, people evaluate the conversational agent as more close, likable, and useful when they perceive more human nature components and when in the voice interaction mode. Psychological resistance was lower in the voice than in the chatting mode regardless of the level of anthropomorphism. The results also demonstrated an interaction effect of anthropomorphism and interaction type on the future use intention: the effect of anthropomorphism existed only in the voice interaction mode. It leads to the conclusion that a conversational agent with the voice recognition interface should be designed with the higher level of human nature components for the continuous use.

Usability Evaluation of Smart Canes to Support Independent Mobility of Elderly Blind Users

인구가 고령화되면서 고령 시각 장애인들이 늘고 있는 가운데 자립형 보행기구는 여전히 열악한 실정이다. 1940 년대 이래로 대부분의 시각 장애인들은 여전히 흰 지팡이를 사용하고 있다. 하지만, 흰 지팡이 사용자들은 돌출 부위나 긴 거리를 탐지할 수 없어 장애물을 피하는 데 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 보행기구의 개선은 고령 시각 장애인들의 보다 나은 삶을 제공할 것이다. 본 논문은 흰 지팡이의 단점을 보완한 스마트 케인의 사용성 평가를 심층 인터뷰와 파일럿 테스트를 통해 고령 시각 장애인들의 니즈와 기대를 파악함으로써 그들의 어려움에 대한 가능한 해결책을 제시하고자 한다. The number of people with a visual impairment tends to increase as people live longer, consequently, this population is rapidly aging. Although the number of the blind or the visually impaired is increasing with elderly population, limited mobility aids might hinder the quality of life of our aging population. A white cane is used by most blind people since 1940s, but traditional white cane users have difficulties detecting protruding bars or long-range distance. Thus, blind people, especially the elderly blind have difficulties in independent mobility. The improvement of mobility aids seem to be increasingly important. Smart canes which extend the obstacle detection range with vibration alert have been introduced, but the blind still use a white cane. This study is to identify their needs and expectations using a smart cane through pilot test and in-depth interview as usabiltiy evaluations. Based on these evaluations, we suggest possible solutions to their potential difficulties.

대화형 에이전트의 성능 개선을 위한 사용자 발화에 관한 탐색적 연구

본 연구는 대화형 에이전트의 성능 개선을 위해 실제 인간 사용자의 발화를 수집하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 사용자의 발화에서 의도를 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 효과적인 대화형 에이전트를 개발하기 위해 사용자의 구어체발화에 특화된 다양한 언어처리 및 언어 이해 요소들을 이해하고자 하였다. 음악서비스에 한정해 사용자 발화를 수집함으로써 본 연구가 확인한 것은 두가지였다. 첫째, 사용자의 의도와 발화가 일치하는지의 여부를 알아보았다. 둘째, 사용자의 발화문을 분석하여 많은 비중을 차지한 형태소가 무엇인지 알아보았다. 그 결과 사용자들은 대화형 에이전트를 사용할 때 기능 및 목적과 관련된 직접적인 키워드로 요청문을 발화하지만, 감정 상태나 처해진 상황에 따라 발화하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 불일치 발화문은 에이전트가 이해하지 못할 가능성이 크다. 본 연구결과는 대화형 에이전트 설계 시 사용자의 감정상태와 상황을 고려해야 한다는 시사점을 가진다.

복수의 가전제품에서 사용할 수 있는 통합 제스처 UI 개발 연구

제스처 입력방식이 보편화됨에 따라 제조사 별, 기기 별로 각각 다른 종류의 제스처 명령어가 사용되고 있다. 이러한 다양한 종류의 제스처 입력방식은 사용자가 여러 종류의 제스처 명령어를 모두 기억해야 한다는 점에서 사용성의 문제를 야기시킨다. 본 연구에서는 사용자의 행동을 기반으로 하는 제스처 입력방식의 통합 어휘목록 개발을 위하여 유사한 조작 환경을 가진 기기들을 하나의 범주로 분류하고 통합 제스처에 적용할 수 있는 제스처 명령어휘 목록을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여, 거실이라는 하나의 상황 안에서 사용되는 TV, 에어컨, 오디오를 중심으로 기기들 간에 5 개의 중복적인 기능을 추출하고 사용자들이 각각의 기능에 가장 적합하다고 선정한 제스처들을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 거실 환경 내에서는 기기에 상관없이 기능 별로 중복적인 제스처의 패턴이 발견되었다. While gesture user interface is widely distributed, there has been an increasing issue of remembering various kind of gesture commands. This study attempts to categorize gesture commands within a similar operational situation of users. To collect the gestures, a situation of living room and three devices, TV, air conditioner, and audio, were provided. There were the same five functions, extracted from three devices for gesture commands. As a result, in the living room situation, duplicate patterns of gestures were found regardless of devices in all functions

글쓰기 학습의 피어리뷰(peer review) 정보를 이용한 학습자 패턴 분석

피어리뷰(Peer Review, 동료 평가)는 동료와 피드백을 주고받으며 학습하는 웹 기반 협력학습 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 피어리뷰 과정 동안에 학습자들이 보이는 다양한 정보를 관찰, 분석 방법을 제안한다. 글쓰기 학습의 피어리뷰 정보를 4가지 항목(저자의 글쓰기 능력, 저자 or 리뷰어의 리뷰 능력 및 리뷰평가 내용, 저자의 글쓰기 능력 변화)으로 나누어 각 항목의 공분산 및 상관관계를 분석하고 피어리뷰 수행 과정에 따른 학습자 패턴을 정의 한다. 제안한 방법은 학습자의 글쓰기 능력을 보다 높은 수준으로 향상시키기 위한 피어리뷰 전략에 효과적으로 활용 될 수 있다.

동료 간 상호리뷰와 글 수정행동

본 연구에서는 대학생들이 물리학 실험 보고서를 작성하고 동료들과 보고서에 대한 코멘트를 주고받은 후 보고서를 어떻게 수정하였는지, 특히 동료와 코멘트를 주고받는 과정이 글 수정활동에 어떤 영향을 주었는지 살펴보았다. 보고서 초안과 수정본 간의 차이를 비교한 결과, 학생들은 글의 좁은 의미 단위를 주로 수정하였고, 글의 전체 의미구조, 구성, 조망 같은 글의 포괄적인 의미에 대한 수정은 드물었다. 동료와 글에 대한 코멘트를 주고받는 활동이 수정행동에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지를 사려본 결과, 글의 작은 의미 단위를 지적하는 코멘트를 받은 경우 좁은 의미 단위의 수정이 촉진되었다. 그러나 글의 포괄적인 의미 측면을 지적하는 코멘트의 경우, 학생들이 이러한 코멘트를 많이 제공하고 받았음에도 불구하고, 넓은 의미 단위의 수정으로 잘 연결되지 않았다. 즉, 학생들이 상호리뷰에서 코멘트를 제공하고 받는 경험이 이후 수정행동에 영향을 주었으나, 그 영향은 주로 좁은 의미 단위의 수정에 국한되어 있었고 포괄적인 의미 단위 차원의 문제점에 대해서는 동료의 지적을 받은 다음에도 수정이 잘 일어나지 않았을 뿐만 아니라 수정이 이루어진 경우도 효과적이지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 좋은 글의 표면적인 특징뿐만 아니라 의미 차원의 특징, 특히 글의 전체를 아우르는 넓은 의미 차원의 문제를 이해하고 해결할 수 있는 방략을 습득하는 것이 글쓰기에 중요함을 시사한다. This study examined how students revised their writing after reciprocal peer review and how their revision activities were influenced by the review. Undergraduates in physics class wrote a laboratory reports, exchanged comments with peers, and revised their reports afterward based on the comments they received from their peers. The comparison between the original and the revised drafts showed that students were mainly concerned with micro-meaning revisions, focusing on making changes on individual words, clauses, and sentences. Revisions that dealt with macro-meaning of the texts were not as frequent. Giving and receiving comments influenced later revision activities. Receiving comments on micro-meaning of the texts led to a significant increase in both micro-and macro-meaning revisions. Receiving comments on macro-meaning of the texts, however, did not prompt relevant revision activities. Even when students engaged in macro revision, it was negatively related to writing performance gains in one subgroup, suggesting that even after peers point out macro-problems in their writing, students are not competent to solve the problems yet. The results of the study suggest that more efforts are needed to help them to understand and manipulate the macro-meaning structure of the tests.
