Nevus Sebaceous of Jadassohn

6 cases of nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn were reported and its literatures were reviewed. It is thought to be rather rare disease in this country. Two of the cases were seen within the age of 2 years and showed the clinical pictures of early stage. The remaining 4 cases were the clinical pictures of late stage showing verrucous lesions. All cases developed the lesions in the scaIp except case 6 which appeared on anterior neck. One of the cases was associated with syringocystadenoma papilliferum but none of the cases show any association of basal cell carcinoma.

Recurrent Themes in Korean and Canadian Poetry

At the outset of my attempt to present a thesis involving a comparative perspective on Korean and Canadian poetry, I must confess that I am not a specialist either of Korean or of Canadian poetry. The only justification for my being here is that I have been a student of English literature for more than three decades, and in the meantime, I, a Korean and a student of literature, have naturally felt the moral obligation to remain aware of the literary heritage of my nation and to co-relate it to Western literature.

『訓民正音』 序文과 King Alfred의 Cura Pastoralis 序文 : 文孝根 선생님께

King Sejong´s preface to Hun-min-joˇng-um and King Alfred´s preface to his translation of Pope Gregory´s Cura Pastoralis share much spiritual kinship, in spite of the fact that they are literary products of two totally unrelated cultural climates and traditions. The latter, written in the form of an epistle, is much longer than the former. But the disparity in length is only a matter of superficiality, for the spirits revealed in the two pieces of writing are identical. King Sejong´s wish to free the whole nation from the painful frustration and humiliation of the incapacitation illiteracy, thereby building up national pride and a strong sense of cultural identity, finds an echo in King Alfred´s wish to achieve cultural renaissance by making it possible for his people to have access to the classics. The only difference is that the Korean monarch wanted to attain unity of the spoken language and the letter, while the British king wanted to enable his people to read the classics by rendering them into the vernacular. But the guiding spirits are the same: to enhance the intellectual life of a people is to strengthen the nation. A major portion of the essay is an interpretive discussion of the text of King Alfred´s preface, with occasional references to King Sejong´s statement. The different fates of the manuscripts of the two documents, however, are a painful remainder of how neglectful we the Korean nation have been in the preservation of our cultural legacies.

한국 현대시 영역(英譯)의 문제점 : 우리 문학의 진정한 해외 소개를 위하여

Attempts at translating Korean poetry into English have a history of almost half a century now (since the Liberation of the nation), and quite a number of translators have contributed to enhancing the international status of modern Korean literature. In spite of their zeal and good intention, however, one must regretfully note that not all poetic translations have been successful in doing justice to the original works. Much of the failure in successfully translating Korean poetry into English is to be ascribed to the translators' being unprepared to cope with the tremendous task of transplanting the sound (including the rhythm of the verses), as well as the sense, of the original works into the soil of the English language and its verse. The main body of the essay is devoted to carefully analyzing and evaluating some of the translated works, and to clarifying in what respects they do or do not measure up to the standard required in the translation of poetry. One of the most regrettable reasons for failure in translation is the translator's occasional misreading of the original work or not fully understanding the shades of meaning of a given work. And even when a translator has fully understood a poem. quite often his lack of command of the poetic language renders it difficult for him to attain the desired goal of making a poem reborn as its equivalent in the English language. Translation of poetry, after all, requires a thorough knowledge of the language in which the original works are written and a familiarity with the poetic tradition in the language into which they are going to be translated, not to mention a good command of the language in question. When a wrong or inadequate translation is published, it can give an irreparable damage to the reputation of a poet―and ultimately to the image of the cultural heritage of the nation he or she belongs to. For this very reason, a translator of poetry must take the business seriously, for one can always, with best meaning, incur the worst.

In the paper, the properties of Thermally Stimulated Current in Measured automatic Data Acquisition System with a A/D Converter set. The A/D Converter set in configured with DIO 8255(Intel), AMD 9513 Timer/Counter and some Programed Controllers. Especially, the numerical method of asymptotic estimation to separate single relaxation curve and physical factors related to charged particles were obtained rapidly and completely. As a result, the data obtained by automatic Acquisition System need tn be corrected to average value and the whole control and inspectation system is needed.

일렉트렛트 소자를 이용한 초저주파 검출

Recently, electret applications have placed the focus on polymer thin film because electrical properties of a blend are studied. In this paper, we have measured the infra sonic frequency by using Electret Sensor. Electret is formed by appling the voltage range of -4[kV] to -8[kV] to PTFE film and the sensor is manufactured by moment method to detect the infra-sonic signal. Electret Infrasonic Transducer, which is designed and manufactured by using of the moment method according to the potential and electric field simulation, shows its promising result, since the average rising rate of sensitivity is 7.68 [dB/oct] under 1[㎐], and the average values are within ±1 [dB/oct]. As a result, it is believed that the characteristics of acquired transducer can be applied to the medical treatment, the industry, and the animal life researches, and also the study on noise elimination is required.

원자력 발전소용 EPR 케이블의 절연열화에 미치는 방사선의 영향

This paper describes the properties of the charging current and the discharging current for Diagnosis of Radiation Degradation of particually 60CO-γ-irradiated EPR cables in Nuclear Power stations. In this study, electrical properties are measured the irradiation dose, (100Mrad, 150Mrad, 200Mrad), the ratio degradation (100%, 50%, 16.7%), length of non-irradiated samples in order to diagnosis EPR cables indestructively. As a result, The value of charging current and the discharging current of cables is influenced by 60CO-γ-irradiation dose. The charging current and the discharging current of cables increases, depending on the ratio of degradation. The charging current and the discharging current is proportional to the cable length. These properties can be utilized as a index of irradiation degradation.

古代英詩 'The Wife's Lament'에서의 話者

고대영어로 쓰여진 작품들중에 흔히 ‘The Wife's Lament’라고 불리워지는 짧은 시가 있다. 영문학을 공부해 가는 중에 고전에 관심을 갖게 된 학생들은 고대영어를 비록 제한된 기간이나마 공부하게 되는데, 그네들이 접할 수 있는 대부분의 교과서에 이 작품이 들어 있다. 말하자면 고대영어를 공부하는 사람에게는 필독의 작품인 셈이다. Beowulf 같은 장시는 차치하고, 'The Wanderer,' 'The Seafarer,' 'The Dream of the Rood' 같은 짧은 시들도 다 100행을 훨씬 넘는데, 유독 ‘The Wife’s Lament’는 겨우 53행 밖에 이르지 못한다. 따라서 학생들은 이 작품을 비교적 가볍게 여기고 또 쉽게 읽어낼 수 있는 작품으로 생각하는 경향이 있다. 그러나 이 시 만큼 그 구성이나 내용, 그리고 화자(話者)가 처한 상황이 어떤 것이냐 등에 대해 논란이 많은 작품도 드물다. 심지어는 이 작품의 길이가 50여행 밖에 되지 않는다는 사실과, 다른 고대영어 elegy들(이를테면 ‘The Wanderer’나 ‘The Seafarer’)은 모두 100행이 훨씬 넘는다는 사실에 비추어, 현존하는 53행은 결국 지금은 그 완전한 형태가 남아 있지 않은 어떤 작품의 일부에 지나지 않는 것은 아니냐 하는 추정마저도 학자들이 하는 경우가 있다. 시를 읽는데 있어서 길이를 굳이 문제삼을 필요는 없는데 이런 추정이 나왔다는 것은, 현재 남아있는 53행이 독자들에게 하나의 완전한 작품으로 설득력있게 닥아오지 못한다는 사실을 시사한다고 보겠다.

폴리에칠렌의 전하 주입에 미치는 부분 방전의 영향

Polyethylene is widely used as electrical insulating material of power cables and condensors because of their excellent electrical and mechanical properties. In this paper, I measured the charge injection into the polyethylene film by a long time exposure of partial discharges by using the pulsed electro-acoustic method. The charge injection of the same polarity with that of the needle electrode was observed. It is thought that these charge was injected by partial discharges. In the case of one hour exposure by partial discharges, negative charge was injected more inside than the positive charges, suggesting that the negative charge injection into the film is easier than the positive one. The no space charge was observed when the gold was evaporated as electrode on the needle electrode side of the film.
