우리나라는 급속히 고령화 사회로 진입하고 있다. 최근 통계청 발표(2003)에 따르면 인구구 조의 당면 문제로 2000년에 이미 고령화 사회 로 진입하였으며, 2019년 고령사회, 2026년 초고령 사회로 진입할 것을 예측하고 있다. 이러한 인구구성 변화는 향후 20년 이내에 노인층위주로 사회구조가 재편될 가능성이 다 분함을 나타내고 있다. 이에 따른 당면문제로 우리 사회는 연금 및 보험재정, 젊은 층의 노동력 확보, 노인복지관련 실버산업의 활성화 문제에 직면하게 된다. 이러한 논제 중의 하나 가 노인복지에 대한 관심이다. 이미 노인복지 시설에 대한 관심은 상당한 수준에 있어 정부 및 각 지방자치단체에서는 적극적으로 시설의 설립 및 보조금 지급을 통한 운영의 활성화를 도모하고 있다.

'The Image of the City' by Kevin Lynch (1960) has enormous influences on city design tradition and supplies the elements of city image. The well-known elements are: paths, edges, districts, nodes, and landmarks. This study focuses on urban residents who have not received city planning and design education or are not working on these profession. Specifically focuses on whether they can discern important image on pairwise comparisons and find out urban design problems with prominent image characteristics. This study adopts AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) technique to compare Lynch's image elements. Major findings are that there is the image difference between residents group and experts group, and the cognition level for the residents by site area is differ. The residents recognized the district element as the most prominent in the study area while the experts recognized the edge element as the most. The residents' image is well recognized the apartment districts side by major roads while they are not likely recognize the interior districts and roads of the study area.

The North Korean folk Music is characterized by the pentatonic scale, which is made up of the five tones of gong (C), shang (D), jue (E), zhi (G), and yu (A). There are five corresponding modes in it: gong mode, shang mode, jue mode, zhi mode and yu mode. It contains a unique 'sigimsae' (decorative expressions) and and exhibits a unique style. Given the researches on the pentatonic scale modes in the North Korean folk Music from 1950 to 2000, it is divided into studies on structural characteristics and types of the modes based on 'pyongjo three-tone serial' and 'gemyongjo three-tone serial' and studies on the mode expansion. Among those, the researches on the mode expansion are generally based on Hwang Min-myung's theory. This study examines the theoretical background and formation process of the pentatonic scale modes in the North Korean folk songs and analyzes the structure and tone characteristics between 'basic scale modes' and 'expanded scale modes', which have not yet been studied by the theory of expansion of the pentatonic scale modes in folk songs. Furthere, it seeks theoretical study on the modal development, aspects of modulation, and aspects of modal change in the same serial of extended scale modes. Therefore, this studycomposes the mode scales based on Hwang Min-myung's theory of the expansion of the pentatonic scale modes and divides the corresponding extended modes into 9 types. Among them, it is found that 'same serial modulation' and 'same tonic-note modulation' are made between scale modes due to the characteristics of 'same serials' and 'same scale modes' that appear in modes and extended scale modes in accordance to the alternative notes such as B, Bb, C#, Eb, F, and F#. This study aims to suggest the possibility of the development of the pentatonic scale modes in the Korean folk music. Therefore, it is expected that research on the pentatonic scale modes in Korea and other countries around the world will serve as a theoretical foundation for the creation of music by presenting the direction of research results that strengthen the basic frame of theory. 5음음계조식은 궁(do)·상(re)·각(mi)·치(sol)·우(la) 5개 음으로 구성된 음계로써, 궁조식·상조식·각조식·치조식·우조식 등 5개 종류가 있다. 5음음계조식으로 구성된 북한 민요는 선법에서의 독특한 시김새를 내포하고 있으며, 풍격에서의 독특한 멋을 나타낸다. 1950년부터 2002년까지의 북한 민요의 5음음계 조식연구 성과를 살펴보면, 평조3음열과 계면조3음열을 기초로 한 조식의 구조적 특징 및 유형에 관한 연구와 조식확장에 관한 연구로 나뉜다. 그 중 조식확장에관한 연구는 황민명의 이론을 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 북한 민요 5음음계조식의 이론적 배경 및 형성과정에관하여 고찰하는 한편, 민요 5음음계 조식확장 이론에서 아직 연구되지 못한 ‘기본형조식’과 ‘확장형조식’ 간의 구조와 음급 특징을 분석하고, 확장조식 같은음열에서의 선법 변화 양상과 전조 양상 및 선법 전개에 있어서의 이론적 연구를 모색하고자 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 황민명의 5음음계 조식확장 이론을 바탕으로 하여 조식음계를 구성하고, 그에 따른 확장조식을 9종류로 나눈다. 그 중 시(si), 시♭(si♭), 도♯(do♯), 미♭(mi♭), 파(fa), 파♯(fa♯) 등 변화음에 따른 선법과 확장조식 등에서 나타나는 ‘같은음열’, ‘같은조식’의 특성에 의하여 조식과 조식사이에서 ‘같은음열 전조’와 ‘같은으뜸음 전조’가 이루어짐을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 북한 민요 5음음계 선법 전개의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 따라서 한국과 세계의 여러 나라를 포함한 5음음계조식에 관한 연구를 통하여 이론의 기초적 틀을 다지는 연구성적 방향을 제시함으로써 활용음악 창작에 이론적 안받침이 되었으면 한다.

뉴어바니즘 도시설계에 관한 고찰 : 지역사회 건설원칙에 전략 Community Building Principles and Strategies

New Urbanists diagnose that American socio-economic ills such as congestion, increasing crime rate, racial segregation, private space favoritism, debilitating central city, have to do with built environments, particularly with urban sprawl and increasing congestion. They proposed various urban design prototypes to resolve these problems. This study introduces New Urbanism(NU) urban design and discusses the three cases of New Urbanists' towns and cities. We assert that the NU Movement is the third community development movement followed by the Garden City Movement and the City Beautiful Movement. The NU urban design is characterized as adopting various channels of street network system and narrower streets, high density land use patterns, accommodating walkable public spaces, and human scaled design principles rather than auto-dominating in the city. This study explains how NU design needs for the contemporary socio-economic ideology are resolved by form and function of community development from the perspectives of the Garden City Movement and the City Beautiful Movement. This study regards the NU urban design efforts as major big pitch since the City Beautiful Movement and the Neighborhood Unit Plan in the U.S.A..
