Purpose: The behavior of invasive carcinomas in human can be very varied with different individual responses to chemotherapy. Individualization is crucial to the optimization of chemotherapy. Therefore, the prediction of a tumor’s sensitivity to anticancer agents has been the subject of intensive investigation. In order to investigate the pathobiology of breast cancer, it is necessary to maintain or recreate the characteristics of the three-dimensional architecture of the tissues in culture. In this study, we have evaluated the relationship between the Histoculture Drug Response Assay (HDRA) assessment and chemotherapy responses in breast cancer patients. Methods: Tumor specimens from 30 patients with breast cancer were evaluated using the HDRA. Tumor tissues were cultured on gelfoam sponge gel in 24-well plates, followed by treatment with a variety of chemotherapeutic agents. All treatments were conducted in triplicate. The sensitivity of a chemotherapy regimen was defined as a tumor inhibition rate (IR) in excess of 30%. Neoadjuvant or palliative chemotherapy for patients, using anthracycline or taxane, was conducted on the basis of the established protocols. The responses to treatments were compared with the results of the HDRA. Results: The mean IR for the combinations of doxorubicin and docetaxel and for FAC and AC were 48, 45, and 36%, respectively. The above partial rate of response to chemotherapy was 81.1%. The sensitivity and specificity of the HDRA assessment, with a 30% inhibition rate, were 81.5 and 66.7%, respectively. The positive and negative response prediction values were 91.7 and 44.4%, respectively. The responses to treatments and the results of the HDRA assessment were not correlated with the expressions of the hormonal receptor or c-erbB2. Conclusion: In cases in which the inhibition rate is in excess of 30%, the HDRA assessment yielded a high positive response prediction value. The sensitivity to chemotherapy, as determined by the HDRA, appears to be a good guide for selection in breast cancer patients. Thus the results presented herein should be integrated into future research on the subject.

This study analyzes the characteristics of creep deformation behavior of weathered granite soils used in road embankments. The creep strain under the unconfined compressive state demonstrated an excellent agreement with the theoretical analysis of the burgers substance. The elastic deformation showed a termination in its characteristics after a long-term period owing to the increase in applied loads. The primary creep strain was 0.0028 and concluded that the deformation completed within 3~5 days after applying the loads. Also, the completing time of creep deformation in the embankment soils increased in proportion to the height of embankment soils. The secondary creep strain is about 50% of the primary creep strain.

本 硏究는 道路의 路盤에 反復荷重이 가해질 경우, 흙의 動力學的 性質, 특히 反復應力을 받을 때의 성질을 규명한 것이다. 동시에 流變學的 모델 解析에 의해 흙의 降伏應力, 彈性係數를 구하였으며, 이에 대한 反復應力 載荷의 영향에 대해서 考察하였다. Though originally designed to get the design standard, this study clearly shows dynamic properties of soil, especially with repeated stress, which have not been well known to us. We try not only to obtain yield stress and modulus of elasticity of soil interims of rheological model interpretation but to investigate the influence of the load of repeated stress on yield stress.

This study was attempted in order to search for unconfined compressive strength of Lime-Soil Mixtures, physical, chemical and mechanical test were conducted to find out the standard properties of soil to be used. Various lime contents used in this test were 3%,6%,9% and 12%, and the compressive strength was tested after 7days, 14days and 28days of standard curing in the above each lime content respectively. Obtained the results summarized as follows. 1. Lime content between strength was obtained as follow; OD Soil q=1.511L+13.2(r=0.465) KL Soil q=1.333L+9.0(r=0.500) OL Soil q=1.500L+8.0(r=0.483) 2. In molding the specimens with the optimum moisture content, the maximum strenght appeared at the wet side of the optimum moisture content. 3. According to increase of curing days, unconfiend compressive strength of Line-Soil mixtures increased the rate of increase of the early curing period was large, but approximately 7 day was surfficient to harden Lime-Soil mixtures completely. 4. Optimum moisture content increased with increase of the lime content, but maximum dry density decreased with lime content.

In order to utilize coal ash, which we go to great expense to scrap, as subbase course material in tetms of improving its technological properties with the addition of some cement. this study attempts to examine the deformation characteristics of coal ash when repeated loads are applied. The material of coal ash is obtained from Young Dong thermal power plants. The results are: Unconfined compression strength shows rectilineal increase in propotion to the cement addition ratio. Within the repeated loads of 3×10? times, modulus of elasticity tendsto decrease while compression strength shows about 21% increase.
