The similarities between “The Tale of Hong Kil-tong” and Water Margin in terms of their narrative structures have been a popular topic among scholars of Korea literature. However, the similarities between “The Tale of Hong Kil-tong” and Journey to the West in terms of their narrative structures have been largely neglected. This essay focuses on these similarities as an attempt to clarify the seemingly redundant latter half of “The Tale of Hong Kil-tong”, where Kil-tong continues to pursue a series of adventures that do not add up in terms of the story plot even after fulfilling his lifelong dream of being appointed as Minister of War. In this respect, the unfolding of the narrative in “The Tale of Hong Kil-tong” that resembles Journey to the West can be an example disclosing Hŏ Kyun’s attempt to emulate clichés in terms of the story plots in premodern Chinese fictional narratives.

This article aimed to investigate into the similarity and dissimilarity of Abraham Kuyper and Klaas Schilder s view on the cultural mandate, and then to suggest Korean church how to build up the cultural mandate. For this purpose I took three procedures. Firstly, in order to bring similarity and dissimilarity between two theologians’ view on cultural mandate, I read their views from the scriptural narrative, that is to say, Creation-Fall-RedemptionConsummation. Secondly, based on three different subcategories I found out their different views. And thirdly, I tried to apply the implications of this study for the korean church s future attitude on the cultural mandate.

한국의 <호동왕자, 낙랑공주>와 베트남의 <미 쩌우, 쫑 투이(Mi Chau Trong Thuy)>1) 비교 연구

한국의 <호동왕자·낙랑공주>와 베트남의 <미 쩌우·쫑 투이>는 역사적 배 경을 바탕으로 국가간의 대립과 침략 그리고 그에 따른 비극적 결말이라는 유사한 서사구조(자식이 부모와 조국을 배반하고 아버지는 자식을 죽이며 사랑은 비극적 결말)를 지닌 작품이다. 한국의 <호동왕자·낙랑공주>는 적국이 침입하면 저절로 운다는 자명고각의 신비성을, 베트남의 <미 쩌우·쫑 투이>는 한 번 쏘면 여러 발의 화살촉이 발사되는 신노의 신비성이라는 표현의 유사성을 지니고 있다. 반면 한국의<호동왕자·낙랑공주>는 고구려의 영토 확장 업적의 정당성을 기술하는 이야기로 전승되었고, 베트남의 <미 쩌우·쫑 투이>는 이민족의 침략에 대한 경계를 기술하여 전승되는 차이가 있다. 두 작품의 모두 나라에 대한 충, 부모에 대한 효사상보다 남녀의 사랑을 우위에 둔 이야기로 남녀주인공 모두 비극적 결말을 맞이하는 이야기로 끝을 맺는다. 한국은 남녀의 사랑을 소재로 고구려의 영토 확장의 정당성을 이야기하고, 베트남은 남녀의 사랑을 소재로 이민족 침략에 대한 경계를 주지시키는 이야기로 형상화 되었다. Korean <Hodong & Nakrang> and Vietnamese < My Chau Chong Thuy> has a similar narrative structure based on historical backgrounds; a confrontation between two countries, invasion and tragedy (children betray their parents and countries, father kills his children and love meets a tragic ending). There are similar expressions of mystique in Korean <Hodong & Nakrang> with Jamyunggogak which plays by itself when enemy invades the country, and Vietnamese < My Chau Chong Thuy> with the Arrow of God which shoots several arrows with a single shot. On the other hand, there is a difference that Korean <Hodong & Nakrang> is a folk tale to describe legitimacy of territorial expansion by Goguryeo, and Vietnamese < My Chau Chong Thuy> is a story to describe guard of invasion by other nations. Both stories give love between man and woman superiority over loyalty and filial duty, and every main character meets tragic ending at the end. Korea is talking about territorial expansion of Goguryeo with the love between man and woman, and Vietnam is talking about guard of invasion with same one in a story.
