        지식유출 의도의 내재적 및 외재적 요인에 대한 연구: 암묵적 지식 관점에서

        In the rapidly changing business environment, knowledge has been recognized as a core asset for sustaining an organization’s competitive advantage. In addition, knowledge sharing is one of the key elements of knowledge management, emphasizing external knowledge sharing beyond initial internal knowledge sharing. However, while knowledge management research emphasizes knowledge sharing, which is a positive aspect, research on preventing knowledge leakage that can have negative consequences is relatively lacking. Companies have tried to minimize the negative effects of knowledge management but many knowledge leakage accidents are still occurring. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effects of external factors based on deterrence theory and internal factors based on self-determination theory on knowledge leakage intention focusing on tacit knowledge. The results of the empirical analysis of 100 data sets collected through a scenario-based survey show that certainty of sanctions, social disapproval, and competence are found to have a significant effect on reducing tacit knowledge leakage intention. Furthermore, informal sanctions have a greater impact on tacit knowledge leakage intention than formal sanctions and external factors have a greater effect on tacit knowledge leakage intention than internal factors.

        프랜차이즈 기업의 지식경영 전략 : 파리바게뜨 사례를 중심으로

        It is widely known that knowledge management plays a facilitating role that contributes to upgrading organizational performance. Knowledge management systems (KMS), especially, support the knowledge management process including the sharing, creating, and using of knowledge within a company, and maximize the value of knowledge resources within an organization. Despite this widely held belief, there are few studies that describe how companies actually develop,share, and practice their knowledge. Companies in the domestic small franchise sector, which are in the early stages in terms of knowledge management, need to improve their KMS to manage their franchisees effectively. From this perspective, this study uses a qualitative approach to explore the actual process of knowledge management implementation. This article presents a case study of PB (Paris Baguette) company, which is the first to build a KMS in the franchise industry. The study was able to confirm the following facts through the analysis of target companies. First, the chief executive’s support is a critical success factor and this support can increase the participation of organization members. Second, it is important to build a process and culture that actively creates and leverages information in knowledge management activities. The organizational learning culture should be one where the creation, learning, and sharing of new knowledge is developed continuously. Third, a horizontal network organization is needed in order to make relationships within the organization more close-knit. Fourth, in order to connect the diverse processes such as knowledge acquisition, storage, and utilization of knowledge management activities, information technology (IT) capabilities are essential. Indeed, IT can be a powerful tool for improving the quality of work and maximizing the spread and use of knowledge. However, during the construction of an intranet based KMS, research is required to ensure that the most efficient system is implemented. Finally, proper evaluation and compensation are important success factors. In order to develop knowledge workers, an appropriate program of promotion and compensation should be established. Also building members’ confidence in the benefits of knowledge management should be an ongoing activity. The company developed its original KMS to achieve a flexible and proactive organization, and a new KMS to improve organizational and personal capabilities . The PB case shows that there are differences between participants perceptions and actual performance in managing knowledge; that knowledge management is not a matter of formality but a paradigm that assures the sharing of knowledge; and that IT boosts communication skills, thus creating a mutual relationship to enhance the flow of knowledge and information between people. Knowledge management for building organizational capabilities can be successful when considering its focus and ways to increase its acceptance. This study suggests guidelines for major factors that corporate executives of domestic franchises should consider to improve knowledge management and the higher operating activities that can be used.

        지리교육과정에서 내용으로서 지식에 대한 논의

        Recent changes in educational environments demands systematic perspectives on geography curriculum as a operative system with several interacting components. And more deep speculation into the nature and forms of knowledge as key content in geography education and geography curriculum is needed. Geographical knowledge in education can be divided into declarative geographical knowledge and procedural geographical knowledge which includes practice, procedure and performance in geography. As attentions must be paid to procedural knowledge to utilize academic wisdom and thinking ways in geography, as to personal and tacit knowledge to expand knowledge and to gain concrete knowledge. Considering the procedural knowledge and personal knowledge as important components in contents in geographical education, the possibility to achieve networking knowledge and problem solving ability will be getting high. Through this recognition, geographical education will be more educational, and geographical thinking and geographical inquiry will be interwoven meaningfully together.

        Knowledge-Evolutionary Intelligent Machine-Tools

        In FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System) and CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), machine-tools have been the target of integration in the last three decades. The conventional concept of integration is being changed into the autonomous manufacturing device based on the knowledge evolution by applying advanced information technology in which an open architecture controller, high-speed network and internet technology are included. In the advanced environment, the machine-tools is not the target of integration anymore, but has been the key subject of cooperation. In the near future, machine-tools will be more improved in the form of a knowledge-evolutionary intelligent device. The final goal of this study is to develop an intelligent machine having knowledge-evolution capability and a management system based on internet operability. The knowledge-evolutionary intelligent machine-tools is expected to gather knowledge autonomically, by producing knowledge, understanding knowledge, reasoning knowledge, making a new decision, dialoguing with other machines, etc. The concept of the knowledge-evolutionary intelligent machine is originated from the machine control being operated by human experts’ sense, dialogue and decision. The structure of knowledge evolution in M2M (Machine to Machine) and the scheme for a dialogue agent among agent-based modules such as a sensory agent, a dialogue agent and an expert system (decision support agent) are presented in this paper, with intent to develop the knowledge-evolutionary machine-tools. The dialogue agent functions as an interface for inter-machine cooperation. To design the dialogue agent module in an M2M environment, FIPA (Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agent) standard platform and the ping agent based on FIPA are analyzed in this study. In addition, the dialogue agent is designed and applied to recommend cutting conditions and thermal error compensation in a tapping machine. The knowledge-evolutionary machine-tools are expected easily implemented on the basis of this study and shows a good assistance to sensory and decision support agents.

        외식 프랜차이즈 기업의 지식이전이 가맹점 만족도에 미치는 영향관계 분석

        Knowledge transfer, which is a form of knowledge management, plays an important role for enhancing competitiveness of a company. This is particularly true in restaurant franchise business because a franchisee can usually gain fast and instant competitive advantages against its competitors by receiving precious knowledge such as patented technology and management know-hows from franchisor when signing a franchise contract. In order for knowledge transfer to be successful, there are a few issues involved in the knowledge transfer process. First is whether the recipient has the capability to absorb and to utilize the new knowledge. Second is whether they have an intention to receive the knowledge. Last issue is whether the franchise duration affects the effectiveness of knowledge transfer. This study aims to investigate the relationships among the several factors that are involved in the knowledge transfer between franchisor and franchisee in restaurant industry. Data was collected by using a survey questionnaire on the 119 respondents. The results show that the franchisee’s knowledge absorption capability alone is not very effective to make knowledge transfer successful. More important is that the franchisee’s satisfaction level is affected by the organizational intention for knowledge transfer. The franchise duration, however, does not seem to affect the effectiveness of knowledge transfer.

      • A study on the impacts of knowledge diffusion through social networks on organizational performance

        Managing knowledge has been regarded as a key source of competitive advantage for many organizations. Much of prior work on knowledge management has focused on creating, capturing, sharing and storing knowledge. Recently, many scholars put more emphasis on organizational aspects of managing knowledge and they paid more attention to how employees share knowledge and with whom they exchange their knowledge. Accordingly, types of ties linking knowledge provider and receiver, links bridging diverse networks, and a typology of a network structure has been studied for shedding light on constructing an efficient knowledge sharing network. However, those studies has given little attention to evaluation of a social network for better performance but they focused on whether types of ties contribute to an organizational performance. The aim of our study is to examine structural properties of knowledge sharing network for improving organizational performance. Our study found out that organizational performance becomes lower in a highly clustered network. Creating random links such as bridges between diverse networks can improve performance of knowledge management. When employees rely on a knowledge management system, creating bridges is not always necessary. Costs of adopting knowledge affect performance of knowledge management.

        지식과 사회 변혁: 한국의 지식 양상의 변화를 중심으로

        This paper explores the mode of knowledges which contribute to the development of society. It argued that “invention,” as a first mode of knowledge, enabled England to accomplish the Industrial Revolution in 18th century while “innovation” made possible American scientific revolution in 20th century. South Korea actually lacked both modes of knowledge in the process of its industrialization. Nonetheless, the country succeeded in both of rapid industrialization and development of society. The successes could be explained by “learning,” another mode of knowledge, rater than invention or innovation. However, facing globalization the demand of new innovative knowledge in the society has been intensified. Possibly, “convergence knowledge ” is a choice for innovative knowledge. With the emphasis on the convergence knowledge, this paper points out an intertwining development of “conventional and convergence” knowledge. Convergence knowledge needs to be created with expansions, not sanctification, of conventional knowledge. Certainly, there is a healthy cycle between conventional and convergence knowledge which would guarantee a sustainable development of innovative knowledge 본 연구는 한국사회의 변화를 ‘지식’이라는 관점에서 조명하고자 한다. 사회는 다양한 동기와 기제를 통해 변화하지만, 정작 변화요인으로서 지식의 존재양상에 대한 연구는 매우 저조하다고 하겠다. 서구에서 지식은 크게 발명과 혁신을 통해 사회를 변화시켰다고 볼 수 있다. 발명은 ‘시행착오(trial and error)’라는 과정을 반복하면서 실용화되었다. 혁신은 발명과는 달리 이론(theory)과 작동원리(mechanism)가 핵심적인 역할을 한다. 하지만 한국의 경우는 이들 과정은 결여되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한국 사회는 매우 짧은 기간 동안 발전을 진행해왔다. 한국에서의 사회발전을 위한 주요 지식획득의 과정은 크게 세 단계로 나누어진다. 첫째, 근대화의 후발주자로서 선진국을 모방하고 학습하는 단계, 둘째, 유입된 지식을 국내적으로 재생산하는 단계, 마지막으로 선진국과의 평행선상에서 혁신하는 단계이다. 과거 한국은 학습을 바탕으로 빠른 성장과 발전을 이룩하였다. 중요한 이유는 한국이 ‘인적자원(human capital)’의 축적과정이 다른 나라들과 달랐기 때문이다. 또한 국가와 지식간의 긴밀한 관계 또한 학습을 확산하는데 유용하게 작용하였다. 하지만 한국 사회는 학습의 한계를 노정하고 있으며, 혁신을 위한 지식에 대한 요구가 강해지고 있다. 혁신을 위한 노력이 강조되고 있으며, 그 중요한 대안으로 지식의 융복합이 부상하고 있다. 본 연구는 지식 융복합의 확산을 위해 두 가지 점을 강조한다. 첫째, 융복합의 발전을 위해서는 일차적으로 기존 학문의 영역의 확장이 매우 중요하다. 현재 진행되고 있는 융복합의 경향에서 간과되고 있는 기존학문 영역의 확장의 문제를 극복할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 융복합 연구에는 창의성과 실현가능성 사이에는 일종의 반비례적 관계가 있다. 따라서 융복합의 확산에는 이들에 대한 적정한 조합이 필요하다고 하겠다.

        병원의사들간의 지식공유 태도 및 신념에 대한 기대와 조직분위기의 영향 분석

        Physicians are likely to seek information and knowledge about treating patients from other doctors. The shared knowledge among hospital physicians is critical to increasing the hospital`s knowledge base and assuring the quality of care. This study investigates factors affecting physicians` attitudes and beliefs about sharing knowledge within hospital department, by employing social exchange theory, theory of climate, and theory of planned behavior. Three regression models, based on the survey results of physicians practicing in 13 tertiary hospitals in Korea, were estimated to test the eight research hypotheses. Physician `s expected covert rewards (such as association and contribution) were a significant positive factor in the attitude toward knowledge sharing, while expected overt rewards were not. Autonomy, management support and trust were found to have significant influences on the physician`s subjective norm and perceived behavioral control to knowledge sharing. Implications can be grouped into two categories: managerial and technological. From the managerial perspective, the managers and chief knowledge officers (CKOs) of hospitals should pay more attention to create an environment where physicians can have positive subjective norms and attitude towards knowledge sharing such as autonomy, trust, and management support. Incentive systems should be executed cautiously to motivate physicians to share their knowledge. Covert reward would be more effective rather than overt reward. From the technological point of view, hospitals should establish knowledge management systems, based on all these factors, in such a way that they function in a more effective manner. Particularly, those responsible for knowledge management systems should pay attention to increasing the accessibility of physicians to workplace communication in an autonomous environment.

        Reflective Analysis on Knowledge-Building Community: Case of a Graduate Course

        This study focused on investigating design issues associated with establishing a classroom-based Knowledge-Building Community. Three design issues for establishing a KBC were investigated: (1) How to coordinate the efforts of individuals effectively in building collective knowledge, (2) How to support self-directed, knowledge-creation processes of individuals, (3) How to facilitate students` ownership of a Knowledge-Building Community. An instructional team designed a graduate course, Alternate Views of Teaching and Learning (Altviews), to foster a Classroom-Based Knowledge-Building Community toward studying alternative methods of teaching and learning. Instructional activities (interventions) for making effective distribution of individuals efforts, facilitating self-directed learning, and promoting the ownership of the KBC were embedded into the Altviews course. The course had three main phases: the Guided Reading Phase, the Sort and Sequence Phase, and the On-line Research Group Phase. The course was supported by Construe, a type of groupware, and Web Board conferencing software. The purpose of this article is to provide instructional designers with insights or guidelines for designing a Knowledge-Building Community in classroom settings by describing the graduate course designed with Knowledge-Building Community approach and reflecting on the course in terms of fostering a Knowledge-Building Community. In this article, the design featuresof the Altviews course, reflection on the Altivews course and emerging issues in building a Knowledge-Building Community were described. Also, implications for the design of Knowledge-Building Community were suggested.
