        Analysis of Optical Performance in Blue Light Blocking Lenses

        목적: 청광차단렌즈의 광학적인 성능을 분석하고, 청광차단렌즈가 디스플레이의 색상 및 선명도에 미치 는 영향을 분석하고자 한다. 방법: 시감투과율이 80% 이상인 16종의 청광차단렌즈를 대상으로 분광광도계를 이용하여 청광투과율을 측정하였고, 카메라 화질 평가 장비를 이용하여 청광차단렌즈에 의한 LED 디스플레이의 색재현성과 선명도 의 변화를 휘도별(20 nit, 110 nit, 400 nit)로 측정하였다. 결과: 청광차단렌즈의 광학적인 특성은 제작방식에 따라 차이가 있었다. 코팅렌즈(n=8)는 착색렌즈(n=8) 보다 시감투과율과 청광투과율이 유의하게 높았다(p<0.05). 또한 코팅렌즈는 시감투과율과 청광투과율이 유 의한 상관성을 보였지만(r=0.714), 착색렌즈는 시감투과율과 청광투과율이 유의한 상관성을 보이지 않았다. 청광차단렌즈(n=16)는 시감투과율과 청광투과율이 유의한 상관성을 보였지만(r=0.433), 시감투과율과 청 광투과율은 디스플레이의 색재현성과 선명도의 변화와 유의한 상관성을 보이지 않았다. 청광차단렌즈는 휘 도가 높은 조건(400 nit)에서 색재현성과 선명도를 향상시켰지만, 휘도가 낮은 조건(20 nit, 110 nit)에서는 색재현성과 선명도를 저하시켰다. 결론: 청광차단렌즈의 광학적인 특성이 제작방식에 따라 차이가 있는 것을 확인하였고, 청광차단렌즈가 디스플레이의 색상 및 선명도에 미치는 영향이 휘도에 따라 차이가 있는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과가 청광차단렌즈의 성능에 대한 참고 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다. The luminous transmittance and blue light transmittance of coated lens showed significant positive correlation (r=0.714), but the tinted lens did not show the significant correlation between the luminous transmittance and the blue light transmittance. The luminous transmittance and the blue light transmittance of the blue light blocking lenses (n=16) was showed significant positive correlation (r=0.433), and both the luminous transmittance and the blue light transmittance did not show the significant correlation with the changes in the color accuracy and the clarity. The color accuracy and the clarity by the blue light blocking lens was increased at high luminance (400 nit), but it was decreased at low luminance (20 nit and 110 nit). Conclusion: The difference in the optical characteristics based on manufacturing method was investigated, and that the influence on the color accuracy and the clarity was investigated according to the luminance level of LED display. Therefore, the results of this study were considered to suggest the basic data for the performance of blue light blocking lens.

        베네시안 블라인드가 적용된 창호 시스템의 1차 투과율 평가를 위한 EnergyPlus 알고리즘과 DIN EN 13363-2의 분석에 관한 연구

        Recently, the matter of excessive cooling load in buildings is being occurred in summer. This problem is mainly due to uncontrolled solar radiation transmitted to building envelope. To control transmitted solar radiation, shading devices are generally used in buildings. Among shading devices, venetian blind has the advantage to adjust indoor comfort and visual comfort by slat angle control. This paper is focused on comparisons of calculation methods for solar transmittance, which is used in EnergyPlus and DIN EN 13363-2 for thermal simulation of venetian blind combined with glazing. Generally, total solar transmittance is calculated through correlations of glazing transmittance and venetian blind transmittance. EnergyPlus considers angular dependance for calculating glazing transmittance, and it uses Radiosity Method for blind transmittance calculation. However, DIN EN 13363-2 assumed normal incident angle for glazing transmittance and it uses different method for calculating blind transmittance, which is more simplified than EnergyPlus. Consequently, EnergyPlus algorithms demand more detailed information than DIN EN 13363-2 to calculate solar transmittance of glazing system. Furthermore, EnergyPlus always had higher blind transmittance than that of DIN EN 13363-2, due to consider of inner reflection for venetian blind, However, DIN EN 13363-2 always had higher glazing transmittance than EnergyPlus, because it assumed normal incident angle. As a result, they show similar results for total solar transmittance of glazing system.

        A Study on the Spectral Transmittance of UV-Blocking Contact Lenses

        목적 : 국내에서 유통되고 있는 하이드로겔 콘택트렌즈의 광투과율을 측정하여 가시광선 및 자외선 차단 기준 규격에 부합하는지 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 : 자외선 차단 표시가 있는 콘택트렌즈를 포함한 하이드로겔 콘택트렌즈 14종을 임의로 선정하였다. 실험 렌즈의 광투과율 측정범위는 가시광선, UV-A 및 UV-B로 하였다. 가시광선은 ANSI Z80.20:2004를 참고하였고, 자외선은 ISO 와 FDA 기준을 참고하여 비교하였다. 자외선 차단 표시가 있는 렌즈의 경우 기준에 따라 Class 1, Class 2로 분류하였다. 결과 : 실험렌즈 14종의 가시광선 광투과율 측정결과 투명 콘택트렌즈 7종 중 4종의 렌즈는 88% 이하로 나타났 으나, 범위에 크게 벗어나지 않았다. 그리고 컬러 콘택트렌즈는 7종 모두 70% 이상으로 나타나 기준규격에 부합하 였다. 자외선 투과율 측정결과 자외선 차단 표시가 있는 콘택트렌즈 10종 중 3종(UD-4, 5, 6)은 UV-A에서 86.67~ 88.59%, UV-B에서 82.41~83.72%로 나타났다. 이 렌즈들의 자외선 광투과율 값은 ISO 및 FDA 기준규격에 부 합하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 : 국내 유통되고 있는 자외선 차단 콘택트렌즈 중 ISO 및 FDA 기준규격에 부합하지 않은 제품이 존재하 는 것으로 나타났으며, 모두 국내제품인 것으로 나타났다. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to measure the spectral transmittance of domestic hydrogel contact lenses, and to find out if they meet the standards of visible light and UV-blocking spectral transmittance. Methods : Hydrogel contact lenses including UV-blocking contact lenses were randomly selected in this study. The range of spectral transmittance measurement in the experimental lenses was set to visible light, UV-A and UV-B. Visible light transmittance was based on ANSI Z80.20:2004. And the UV spectral transmittance was compared to the UV-blocking contact lenses standards applied by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). UV-blocking contact lenses were classified as Class 1 and Class 2 according to the standards. Results : As a result of measuring visible light transmittance of 14 types of experimental lenses, 4 transparent contact lenses showed 88% or less, but did not deviate significantly from the range. And all 7 types of color contact lenses were measured to be over 70% and met the standards. In the spectral transmittance of UV, the UD-4, 5, 6 lenses among the 10 types of UV-blocking contact lenses showed the range of a spectral transmittance of 86.67~88.59% and 82.41~83.47% for UV-A and UV-B, respectively. These UV wavelength values were found to be non-compliant with ISO and FDA UV-blocking standards. Conclusion : It shows that some UV-blocking contact lenses do not meet ISO and FDA UVblocking standards, and they were all domestic products.

        조명용 광소자의 광 투과율 향상을 위한 패턴 형상 연구

        The light transmittance of optical device is one of the important conditions to improve the product performance and it has researched through the various methods. One of these methods to improve the optical transmittance is to use a pattern on optical surface. The advantages of this method are to simplify the manufacturing process and to easy mass production. If a surface of glass has with the proper patterns, we can expect a great effect on optical transmittance. The purpose of this research is to derive a pattern to get high transmittance from a theoretical approach and to analyze the transmittance through the simulation. And then, we made a sample with a pattern and compared with the results from simulation and experiment.

        Transmittance of γ-ray from Cs-137 and Co-60 for hydrogel containing metal oxides as soft radiation shielding materials

        Hydrogels with 0.1 mol of three kinds of metal oxides are fabricated to improve shielding performance with ductility. Fe2O3, WO3, and PbO2 micropowders as a supplement are used to shield γ-ray radiation. Transmittance of γ-ray is measured for the hydrogels according to the energy level of γ-ray from Cs-137 (0.662 MeV) and Co-60 (1.173 and 1.332 MeV). Subsequently, tenth value layers (TVLs) as thickness to nearly shield radiation are calculated using the obtained attenuation coefcient from the transmittance. The shielding performance as the transmittance and attenuation coefcient is improved according to the atomic number of contained metal. Among Fe2O3, WO3, and PbO2 composite, the PbO2 composite has the lowest transmittance and highest attenuation coefcient for the all γ-ray energy range. The calculated TVLs of the PbO2 and WO3 composites are 12.65 and 13.62 cm for Co-60, respectively. The diference of TVLs between the PbO2 and WO3 composites is merely small as 1 cm, and the tungsten metal is not harmful to human and environment, unlike lead. As a result, it is suggested that the WO3 composite is suitable for the soft radiation shielding materials of the radioactive waste multiple containers with appropriate shielding and cushioning performance.

        Optical Transmittance Recovery of Powder Blasted Micro Fluidic Channels on Fused Silica Glass Using MR Polishing

        An ultra-precision polishing method using magnetorheological (MR) fluids is applied to the powder blasted micro channels fabricated on fused silica glass to improve surface quality and recover optical transmittance. For the experiments, 300 μm micro channels with 600 μm square reservoirs were fabricated on the glass; then, a series of MR polishing were performed. The surface roughness and transmittance of the micro channels rapidly improved after 20 minutes MR polishing. The Measured surface roughness of the final specimen was Ra = 2.2 nm, and transmittance was 99.38% (at wavelength = 1600 nm) of the original specimen. The results of this research confirm that the MR polishing can be a very effective method to improve surface roughness and transmittance by polishing the micro channels on fused silica glass.

      • BIPV 용 결정질 태양광 모듈 및 재료의 투과 특성에 대한 연구

        In 21st century, the photovoltaic industry is growing almost 30% annually worldwide. Also, the technology of solar cells is shifting to the Building Integrated systems. It is the situation which is unsatisfactory about the transmittance quality of the solar cell and module which are applied windows in buildings and vehicles. Considering the BIPV market, a research on the glass-to-glass module type is described in this paper. We analyzed the transmittance of glass-to-glass module type solar cells using Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) sheet and Poly Vinyl Butyral (PVB) sheet. We found that the EVA sheet is approximately 3% better than the PVB sheet in terms of transmittance. And, we performed an experiment on each module using 16 plates and 25 plates of 6 inch wafer size solar cell. We observed that 16-plate module has about 36.5% increase in improved transmittance and about 38% reduced in efficiency.

        남해안 6개 도서의 조하대 해조류 군집구조

        The macroalgal community structure was examined at the subtidal zones of six study sites, on the Southern coast of Korea from between May and August 2015. A total of 132 seaweeds, comprising 10 green, 28 brown and 94 red Seaweed, were identified. The seaweed biomass was 80.32 g dry wt. m-2 in average, and it was maximal at Geomundo (166.94 g dry wt. m-2) and minimal at Byeongpungdo (14.52 g dry wt. m-2). On the basis of the biomass, the Ecklonia cava was a representative species, distributed widely in the subtidal zone of the three islands (Yeoseodo, Geomundo, Baekdo). Also, the Sargassum sp. was dominant at Sejondo and Hongdo. The turbidity and light transmittance was divided into two groups. The seaweed community structure of group A (Byeongpungdo, Sejondo, Geomundo) was characterized by high turbidity, low light transmittance and a lower habitat depth than were observed in group B (Hongdo, Baekdo, Yeoseodo). As the water depth increased, the biomass decreased due to the lowered light transmittance. In Byeongpungdo and Sejondo, which showed high turbidity and low light transmittance, the degree of seaweed coverage was decreased with the depth of water. The ESGⅡ ratio of the Ecological Status Group was higher than fourty percentage in Byeongpungdo and Baekdo. Community indices were as follows: dominance index (DI) 0.35-0.90, richness index (R) 7.03-17.93, evenness index (J′) 0.22-0.60, and diversity index (H′) 0.79-2.18. The Macroalgal zonation of the subtidal zone was calculated by the Ecklonia cava and Brown algal population on five islands (Byeongpungdo, Yeoseodo, Geomundo, Beakdo, Hongdo). On the other hand, Undaria pinnatifida and Sargassum sp. dominated at Sejondo. Additionally, the biomass ratio and the species richness of green algae was lower in group A. These differences in the seaweed community structure may have resulted from the effects of turbidity and light transmittance.

        산화반응으로 형성된 구리산화물 박막의 표면형상 및 투과율 특성에 관한 연구

        This work reports the surface morphology and transmittance of copper oxide thin films for semitransparent solar cell applications. We prepared the oxide specimens by subjecting copper thin films to an oxidation reaction at annealing temperatures ranging between $100^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. The color of the as-deposited specimen was red, but changed to purple at the annealing temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. The surface morphology and transmittance of the specimens were significantly dependent on the annealing temperature and thickness of the copper films. Copper oxide nanoparticles prepared from a 20-nm-thick copper film at an annealing temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ provided a maximum transmittance of 93%. The obtained optical characteristics and surface morphology suggest that copper oxide thin films prepared by an oxidation reaction can be potentially employed as color- and transmittance-adjusting layer in semitransparent thin solar cells.
