비교적 최근까지 동기에 관한 상당수의 연구가 개인의 내적 심리적 특성이나 인지적·정서적 기능에 초점을 두어 온 결과, 연구자들은 학습 과정에서 사회적 맥락이나 환경의 역할에 대해서는 상대적으로 관심을 덜 가진 측면이 있었다. 사회문화적 관점에 기반을 둔 읽기 동기 연구의 필요성과 의의에도 불구하고 이에 대한 연구가 부족하다는 인식 아래, 본고는 사회문화적 관점의 읽기 동기를 이해하기 위한 틀을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 동기 이론의 변천과 특징을 개관하고, 사회문화적 관점에 기반을 둔 읽기 동기 연구가 왜 필요하고, 어떠한 연구 방법들에 주목할 필요가 있는지, 그리고 이러한 사회문화적 관점의 동기가 읽기 교육이나 연구에 시사하는 바가 무엇인지를 살펴보았다. Most recent studies on motivation have focused on individuals’ inner psychological characteristics or cognitive and affective aspects. Consequently, researchers have tended to focus less on the impacts of sociocultural contexts and the environment on literacy motivation and learning. In today’s education system, there is a lack of research into reading motivation from the sociocultural perspective, despite its necessity and significance. Therefore, this study aimed to emphasize and discuss reading motivation through sociocultural lenses. Thus, this study outlined the transitions and characteristics of motivation theories. It also discussed why it is necessary to research reading motivation through a sociocultural perspective and highlighted which research methods deserve attention. Further, the study explored what these sociocultural motivation theories can mean for reading education and research.

Goldwork embroidery is the art of embroidery using metal threads. As well as being used as a decorative element of religious clothing, flags, performing costumes, uniforms, and badges, goldwork embroidery is also used in many current designer collections. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the techniques and materials of goldwork embroidery and the formative characteristics and socio-cultural values of goldwork embroidery from its beginning to the early 20th century. For this study, various embroidery works, costumes, museum portraits, and literature were analyzed. The results are as follows. First, the transition of goldwork embroidery was divided into 4 categories: The beginning of goldwork embroidery; the golden age of goldwork embroidery; the maturity of goldwork embroidery; and various goldwork embroidery (depending on the materials used, usage, and design features). The earliest extant example is the “Maaseik fragments” in Belgium dating from the late 8th to early 9th centuries. Until the 15th century, the Church was the most important patron of goldwork embroidery; however, after the 15th century, goldwork embroidery was produced on costumes. Second, the social-cultural values of goldwork embroidery (based on transition and formative features) were classified as expression of divinity, instrument of governance, desire to be approved, and tools of self-expression. Through this study, it is evident that there have been many advances in both technique and technology over time. Furthermore, patterns of usage and social-cultural values of goldwork embroidery have changed significantly.

카프카 『변신』의 한국어 번역본 번역비평 – 한국어 번역본(1957-2022) 비교연구

이 글은 65년에 이르는 방대한 한국어 번역의 역사를 갖는 카프카의 『변신』의 1957년 최초 한국어 번역에서부터 가장 최근의 번역에 이르기까지 각 시기를 대표하는 여덟 종의 번역 텍스트를 선정하여 그 특징을 살피고 비교 및 분석한다. 이를 위해 『변신』의 한국어 번역사를 초기, 중기, 후기로 나누어 살피는 통시적 접근법을 취하되 소설 전 범위에 걸친 미시적 문장과 단어 단위의 비교를 하였다. 번역본에 대한 이와 같은 폭넓고도 세밀한 분석을 통해 오역의 발생 원인은 물론, 어떤 번역어가 선택되고, 유지되고, 혹은 변화되어왔는지에 대한 생성사적 배경을 살핌으로써, 이 논문은 『변신』의 한국어 번역사를 훑는 동시에 번역을 통한 서구 문학 수용에 담겨 있는 한국의 격동적 근현대의 언어, 사회, 정치, 문화와 그 변화의 맥락을 추적한다. 분단 이전 일제 강점기에 유년기를 보낸 초기 번역자들의 번역본에는 일본어의 영향을 보여주는 사례는 물론 북한어가 등장하기도 하고, 군부독재 시기의 번역에서는 그 시대상이 반영된 단어의 선택이 눈에 띄며, 최근의 번역본에는 현대 자본주의의 사회상이 적극적으로 반영된 어휘가 등장하는등, 『변신』 번역본에는 한국 사회가 겪은 격동적 근현대의 굴곡이 고스란히 반영되어 있다. 특히, 가족 및 사회관계를 반영하는 호칭과 말투의 번역에서는 초기 번역에서 나타나는 가부장제적·위계적 관계가 보다 평등한 관계의 가족관 및 사회관으로 변화하는 양상이 두드러진다. 생동하는 과정으로서의 문화간 소통의 결과가 번역인 것이다. Franz Kafkas Die Verwandlung wurde in Südkorea von 1957 bis 2022 zahlreiche Male ins Koreanische übersetzt. Aus diesen Übersetzungen der letzten 65 Jahre werden im vorliegenden Artikel acht repräsentative Übersetzungstexte dieses Werkes ausgewählt, um sie miteinander zu vergleichen, zu analysieren und profilieren. Dementsprechend wird die koreanische Übersetzungsgeschichte von der Verwandlung in frühe, mittlere und späte Phasen eingeteilt, in denen Sätze und Worteinheiten der jeweiligen Übersetzungstexte über das gesamte Werk hinweg verglichen werden. In dieser umfassenden und detaillierten Analyse wird der Text auf Fehlübersetzung, Wortwahl und Veränderungen in den koreanischen Übersetzungen untersucht. Dadurch bietet dieser Artikel einen Überblick über die Entstehungsgeschichte der Verwandlung in Korea, deren Übersetzungen die heftigen gesellschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Veränderungen dieses Landes ab den 20. Jahrhundert prägend zugrunde liegen. Darin spiegelt sich der historische Wandel in Korea wider: In den früheren Übersetzungen, deren Übersetzer ihre Kindheit in der japanischen Kolonialzeit vor der Teilung Koreas verbracht haben, tauchen nicht nur vom Japanischen beeinflusste Wörter auf, sondern auch nordkoreanische. Während die Übersetzer in der Ära der Militärdiktatur Wörter verwenden, die diese Zeit widerspiegeln, fallen in den neueren Übersetzungen Wörter auf, die die kapitalistische Gesellschaft reflektieren. In den familiären bzw. sozialen Titeln und Redeformen der koreanischen Übersetzungen zeigt sich deutlich die drastische Veränderung von der früheren patriarschalen und hierarchischen Gesellschaft zur immer gleichberechtigter werdenden. Kurzum: Die Übersetzung kann als interkulturelle Kommunikation und als lebendiger Prozess verstanden werden.
