        아동․청소년기 집단 따돌림 경험과반사회적, 경계선 성격의 관계에서공격성과 신경증의 매개효과

        The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of aggression and neuroticism in the relationship between childhood bullying and antisocial, borderline personality traits in adulthood. Totally, 696 adults completed self-report questionnaires, which included the Perpetration-Victimization of the Bullying Scale, the Diagnostic Test for Personality Disorder, the Korean Version of the Aggression Questionnaire (K-AQ), and the Korean Version of the Big Five Inventory (K-BFI). The study’s findings indicated that aggression partially mediated the relationship between childhood bullying behavior and antisocial personality, while aggression and neuroticism fully mediated the relationship between victimization of childhood bullying and antisocial personality. Similarly, aggression also partially mediated the relationship between childhood bullying behavior and borderline personality, while both aggression and neuroticism partially mediated the relationship between victimization of childhood bullying and borderline personality. In addition, the relationship between bullying victimization and antisocial, borderline personality was mediated by emotional aggression, not by physical or verbal aggression. These findings supported our hypothesis that childhood bullying contributed to the development of antisocial and borderline personality traits, which were mediated by aggression or neuroticism. Yet, the mediating role of neuroticism was revealed only in the relationship between victimization and borderline personality. This suggests that intervention programs to reduce aggression and neuroticism could be beneficial in preventing the development of antisocial, borderline personality traits among individuals who have experienced childhood bullying. 본 연구는 아동․청소년기 집단 따돌림 가해 및 피해 경험이 공격성과 신경증을 매개로 성인기 반사회적, 경계선 성격 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해, 성인 696명을 대상으로 집단 따돌림 가해, 피해 척도, 성격장애 진단검사, 한국판 공격성 질문지(K-AQ), 간편형 한국어 BFI(K-BFI)를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 집단 따돌림 가해 경험과 반사회적 성격의 관계는 공격성이 부분 매개하였고 피해 경험과 반사회적 성격의 관계는 공격성과 신경증이 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 집단 따돌림 가해 및 피해 경험과 경계선 성격의 관계에서는 공격성이 가해 경험과 경계선 성격의 관계를 부분 매개하였고 피해 경험과 경계선 성격의 관계에서는 공격성과 신경증이 부분 매개하였다. 더불어 집단 따돌림 피해경험과 반사회적, 경계선 성격의 관계는 정서적 공격성만이 매개하였고, 신체적, 언어적 공격성은 이들의 관계를 매개하지 않았다. 본 연구의 결과는 집단 따돌림 가해 및 피해 경험이 공격성을 매개로 반사회적, 경계선 성격을 발달시키는 과정을 지지하지만, 신경증의 매개 역할은 피해 경험과 경계선 성격의 관계에만 국한됨을 보여준다. 이와 같은 결과는 아동․청소년기에 집단 따돌림을 경험한 사람들이 반사회적, 경계선 성격을 발달시키는 것을 예방하기 위해 공격성과 신경증을 감소시킬 수 있는 심리적 개입 프로그램이 유용할 수 있음을 시사한다.

        게임이 사용자의 공격성ㆍ사회성ㆍ정서에 미치는 영향: 메타분석 연구

        In this study, we examined the effects of video game play on a variety of areas of mental well-being, such as aggressive behavior, aggressive cognition, prosocial behavior, prosocial attitude, antisocial behavior, antisocial attitude, positive affect, and negative affect. We conducted a multivariate meta-analysis on 22 studies (k= 54, N = 8,031) published between January 2008 and October 2019. The results of the meta-analysis indicate that exposure to violent video games significantly increased aggressive cognition and negative affect only in true experimental studies, but their influences were small. Furthermore, the exposure to violent video games did not increase aggressive behavior and negative affect across all the research designs (true experimental, quasi-experimental, and correlational). Moderator analyses revealed that the effects of exposure to violent video games were much larger for younger adults than for children and greater in male-biased studies than in gender-balanced ones. Additionally, studies using better methodologies were less likely to produce negative effects. These findings suggest that the effects of exposure to violent video games on aggression were not as severe as popular opinion holds, and the effects were heavily modulated by the age and gender ratio of the participants, and methodological quality of the studies.

        교도소 수감 청소년과 일반 청소년의 마음 읽기 능력 차이

        마음읽기와 반사회적 행동의 관련성을 검토하기 위해서, 교도소에 수감 중인 청소년 재소자들의 마음 읽기 능력을 일반 청소년들과 비교했다. 비교 집단은 청소년 재소자와 동일 연령대의 대학생, 그리고 재소자들보다 더 어린 중학생과 초등학생이었다. 이들의 마음 읽기 능력은 생각 이해, 정서 인식, 지향적 해석 능력으로 측정했다. 연구 결과, 청소년 재소자들은 생각 이해와 정서 인식 능력이 동일 연령의 대학생보다 저조했다. 이들의 생각 이해 능력은 초등학교 고학년 수준이었고, 정서 인식 능력은 중학생 수준이었다. 특히 청소년 재소자들은 선의의 거짓말을 이해하지 못하고, 애매한 행동을 마음상태와 관련하여 파악하는 개념적 역할조망 능력이 낮았으며, 화난 얼굴 표정을 인식하지 못했다. 그러나 청소년 재소자들의 지향적 해석 능력과 정서적 공감 능력은 대학생과 차이가 없었다. 이러한 결과는 타인의 마음 상태를 읽고 이해하는 사회인지적 기술의 결함이 반사회적 행동과 관련이 있음을 시사한다. This study examines the mind-reading ability of juvenile offenders in jail. Their mind-reading ability was measured by the ability to understand other's thinking, ability to read the emotional states through facial expressions, and ability to detect intentionality in animated shapes. A total of 35 male juvenile inmates' performance was compared with those of normal male students (40 undergraduate students, 38 junior high school students, and 35 elementary school students). The results indicate that juvenile offenders have a deficit in understanding of others' thinking and emotions. More specifically, they cannot uncover the hidden meaning of white-lies and recognize others' facial expressions of anger. However, it was found that their ability to detect intentionality was intact and that the level of their emotional empathy was normal. These results imply that juvenile offenders' anti-social behaviors are associated with the impairment in their mind-reading.

        조승희 사건에 대한 목회 상담학적 소고: 개인과 환경에 대한 신학적, 심리학적 분석

        Seung-Hui Cho murdered 32 innocent people, leaving 25 wounded, in Virginia Tech massacre. Who was Cho and what made this terrible rampage happen? He demonstrated extreme shyness in childhood, and he seemed to have stored devastating anger in adolescence. His unique personality and a new environment as an immigrant conjointly contributed to the dreadful killings. Cho showed psychological traits of both social phobia and anti-social personality disorder. He had history of receiving therapy because of his unusual behaviors and thoughts. Social anxiety aggravated his inability in public speaking, which in turn collected peers` mocking. Humiliation and fear deepened his anxiety, and he was well aware of its causes clearly as other social phobics do. On the other hand, his mischievous behaviors on campus may explain a possible diagnosis of anti-social personality disorder. His aggression that was eventually realized in fact was previously organized and carefully planned, which is distinctive from those with anti-social personality disorder. In addition to his individual troubles, he experienced serious social isolation at school and even in his family. Pastoral theology points to both his individual problems and his social environments. Theological reflections of his case swing in ambivalence between two poles: his life as a victim and his killing of innocent people as a criminal. He had once been abused and now he abused other people`s rights as well as his own freedom of conscience. Therefore, pastoral theologians and counselors must understand the need of individual redemption and social reformation for a Christian healing through this incident.
