본고에서는 기호론적 방법론을 적용하여 『노동의 새벽』을 중심으로 그 시적 코드와 의미작용을 분석했다. 예의 박노해는 삶과 죽음의 대립적 코드로써 노동의 의미를 산출해내고 있다. 그 대립적 코드는 노동자의 몸을 물질화하기도 하고, 노동자를 삶과 죽음 사이에 감금하기도 한다. 이러한 모순의 코드를 깨뜨릴 수 있는 것은 개별자인 ‘나’가 아니라 공동체적인 ‘우리’이다. 그래서 박노해는 ‘우리’로의 전환을 위해 감정적 기표인 ‘소주(술)’를 그 매개체로 사용한다. 그 결과, 우리는 ‘죽음에서 삶’으로, ‘물질에서 생명’으로 나갈 수 있는 노동의 햇새벽을 맞는다. 하지만 그 노동의 햇새벽은 오래가지 못하고 만다. 감정적 기표인 소주의 기운이 소진되면 다시 ‘우리’에서 ‘나’로 환원되기 때문이다. 그래서 박노해는 〈노동의 새벽〉과 상호텍스트성의 관계에 있는 작품을 통하여 비로소 이성적 차원의 견고한 ‘우리’를 창조해내게 된다. 그러한 ‘우리’ 코드는 ‘삶과 죽음의 모순된 결합구조’를 깨뜨릴 뿐만 아니라 ‘노동자’와 ‘사용자’의 대립적 모순을 상생의 관계로 통합하기에 이른다. 이것이 바로 박노해 시인이 창조한 노동의 기호론적인 새로운 의미이다. The present study analyzesDawn of Labor in terms of its poetic code and signification by using the semioticmethodology. As usual, No-hae Park produces themeaning of labor as a conflict between life and death. The conflict sometimes materializes the body of the laborer but at other times it locks up the laborer between life and death. This inconsistency is fixed by collective “we” not by individual “I” in the poem. In this vein, No-hae Park uses liquor as amediumof turning the individual “I” into the collective “we”. As a result, we come to greet the fresh dawn of labor that transforms death into life and material into life. However, the fresh dawn of labor does not last long.When the emotion signifier, “Soju (liquor)”, runs out, the collective “we” returns to the individual “I”. Thus, No-hae Park creates the solid “we” at a reasonable level by using literary works that are intertextually related toDawn of Labor. That “we” loosens the bonding structure of life and death and goes as far as to integrate the inconsistency between “laborer” and “employer”, which is mutually beneficial in the end. That is the new semiotic meaning of labor that No-hae Park creates in his poem.
