Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is suitable treatment method of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) for patients with decreased underlying liver function or unresectable disease. But this procedure can induce some embolic events. We report a case of a gallbladder infarction caused by the embolic event in TACE procedure. A 61-year-old man had been going to undergo 6th TACE for marginal recurrence of HCC. After the procedure, gallbladder infarction occurred and was detected by abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan for response evaluation of the treatment at out-patient-clinic. Then, he was treated with oral antibiotics and conservative therapy at out-patient clinic. In 6th week after the event, abdominal CT scan showed improved state of gallbladder.

Intervention treatment such as balloon retrograde or anterograde transvenous obliteration has been used for management of refractory hepatic encephalopathy as well as gastric variceal bleeding. Recently, plug-assisted retrograde transvenous obliteration without a help of balloon was newly developed to treat these patients. Here, we report three cases suffering refractory hepatic encephalopathy who were treated with this new technique.
디자이너 실무능력 양성을 위한 디자인 교육의 방향성 연구 - 시각디자인전공 실무진과 학생들의 니즈를 중심으로 -

연구배경 디지털 기술의 발전으로 인해 시각디자인의 영역이 확장되고 실무에서 시각디자이너의 역할 또한 빠르게 변화됨에 따라 대학 디자인 교육은 다양한 전공 커리큘럼을 개발 및 운영하고 있으나, 학생들은 취업 후 실무현장에 대한 이해의 부족으로 여러 어려움을 겪으며 실무에서 활용 가능한 역량을 개발할 수 있는 커리큘럼에 대한 니즈(needs)는 높아지고 있는 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실무와 대학 디자인 교육의 연계성 향상을 위해 디자이너에게 필요한 역량과 대학 디자인 커리큘럼에 대한 학생들의 니즈를 파악하고자 한다. 연구방법 본 연구는 디자인의 세부 영역 중 시각디자인에 집중하여 서울권 3개 대학의 시각디자인 전공 학생들과 실무에서 5년 이상 일한 시각디자이너들을 대상으로 실무에서 필요한 디자이너의 역량과 대학 디자인 커리큘럼에 관해 반구조화된 심층 인터뷰(semi-structure interview)를 진행하였으며, 선행연구를 기반으로 인터뷰 내용을 경쟁력 분야, 배경지식과 기술, 개인적 특성의 측면에서 분석하였다. 연구결과 경쟁력 분야의 측면에서는 UX/UI, 영상, 광고 등 다양한 시각디자인 영역을 경험할 수 있는 대학 커리큘럼에 대한 니즈가 높음을 알 수 있었으며 배경지식과 기술의 측면에서는 커뮤니케이션 스킬과 소프트웨어 스킬 그리고 실무 디자인 프로세스에 대한 이해가 중요한 디자이너의 역량으로 논의되었다. 개인적 특성의 측면에서는 디자이너의 미적 감각과 끈기 그리고 인성적인 측면도 강조되었다. 결론 따라서 다양한 시각디자인 영역과 실무 프로세스를 경험할 수 있고 팀워크 및 커뮤니케이션 스킬을 학습할 수 있는 방향으로 대학 디자인 커리큘럼이 보완, 개발되어야 한다. 본 연구를 기반으로 향후 대학의 디자인 교육은 기본적인 지식 뿐 만 아니라 실무에서 중요시되는 다양한 역량을 교육하는 방향으로 발전할 수 있다는 것에 의의가 있다. Background As the digital technology advances, the field of graphic design is expanding. Consequently, the role of graphic designers is continuously changing which results in universities’ education to adjust to the current trend. Nonetheless, students encounter hardship due to a lack of understanding the profession of graphic designer which increase demands for curriculum that prepare students in developing competencies for the industry. This study identifies students’ demands from university curriculum as well as functional competencies that graphic designers need in order to enhance the relationship between the university education and the industry. Methods This study is concentrated specifically on graphic design field and semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted with students from three different universities in Seoul who are majoring in graphic design and professional graphic designers with more than five years of experience. Based on previous studies, interviews were analyzed by competence areas, background knowledge and skills, and personal characteristics. Result In the competence area, high demands of courses in relation to UX/UI, film, and advertisement were discovered. In the background knowledge and skills section, acquiring communication skills, software skills, and the awareness of the practical design process were discussed as important competencies for graphic designers. In personal characteristics section, having aesthetic sensibility, perseverance, and open-mindedness were emphasized. Conclusion The curriculum for graphic design major in universities should be supplemented to allow students to experience various field of graphic design and enhance communication and teamwork skills. This research can be utilized in the future design education of universities to develop not only the basic knowledge but also educating various important competencies for the industry.

<P>Ginkgetin has been reported to display antitumor activity. However, the relevant pathway integrating cell cycle regulation and signaling pathways involved in growth inhibition in CRC cells remains to be identified. In this study, ginkgetin-treated HCT116 CRC cells exhibited significant dose-dependent growth inhibition with a GI(50) value of 4.0 mu M for 48-h treatment, together with apoptosis, via G(2)-phase cell cycle arrest. When HCT116 cells were treated with 10 mu M ginkgetin for 48 h, the percentage of cells in G(2)/M phase increased by 2.2-fold (43.25%) versus the untreated control (19.69%). Ginkgetin regulated the expression of genes that are critically involved in G(2) phase arrest cells, such as b-Myb, CDC2 and cyclin B1. Furthermore, we found that the suppression of b-Myb expression by ginkgetin was rescued similar to 5.1-fold by treatment with a miR-34a inhibitor (500 nM) and b-Myb was downregulated by >80% by 100 nM miR-34a mimic. These data suggest that the miRNA34a/b-Myb/cyclin B1 cascade plays a critical role in ginkgetin-induced G(2) cell cycle arrest, as well as in the inhibition of HCT116 cell proliferation. Moreover, the administration of ginkgetin (10 mg/kg) reduced tumor volumes by 36.5% and tumor weight by 37.6% in the mice xenografted with HCT116 cells relative to their vehicle-treated counterparts. Therefore, ginkgetin is the first compound shown to regulate b-Myb by modulating miR-34a, and we suggest the use of ginkgetin as an inducer of G(2) arrest for the treatment of CRC.</P>
Primary Pulmonary Leiomyosarcoma: Could It Be Cured by Radiation Therapy?

Primary leiomyosarcoma of lung is extremely rare and often diagnosed as a mass on routine chest radiography. Although advances have been made in treatment protocols, leiomyosarcoma remains one of the more difficult soft tissue sarcomas to treat. Surgical resection is usually curative for small and well-differentiated sarcomas. For poorly differentiated and non-resectable tumors, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are used as neoadejuvant or palliative treatment options. Generally, leiomyosarcomas are known to be resistant to radiation therapy alone. The authors experienced a 68-year-old woman who was diagnosed leiomyosarcoma by routine chest radiography. Although disease progression was observed despite of chemotherapy, radiation therapy reduced the size of tumor. This paper describes the curative potential of radiation therapy for primary pulmonary leiomyosarcomas through a case report and literature review.
마포·용산·성동(마용성) 현상의 이해: 직주락 센터의 형성을 중심으로

탈산업화 시대 도시는 다양성, 개방성, 접근성을 갖춘 도심을 중심으로 발전한다. 오피스, 주거, 상업 및 문화시설이 집적된 도심이 다양한 사람들의 자유로운 상호작용을 촉진함으로써, 창의적인 인재들이 유입되어 도시의 창조성을 이끈다는 직주락 센터 이론(LWP center)은 신도시주의와 연결되어 도심의 보행환경과 복합용도를 강조한다. 본 연구는 직주락 센터 이론을 토대로 서울 부동산 시장에 변화를 가져온 마용성 현상을 분석하고, 그 요인을 파악한다. 25개 자치구를 대상으로 직주락 관점의 다각적인 지표를 측정해 마용성 현상을 설명한다. 직주락 형성과정에 대한 분석을 통해 세 지역이 락-직-주의 순서로 직주락 센터를 형성했음을 확인하였으며, 차별화된 문화 정체성이 내재된 리테일 산업의 밀집이 선행되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 토대로, 한국 도시들의 직주락 센터 형성을 위해 ‘락’ 정체성의 확립과 직주일치를 도모하는 상권 중심의 공간 정책을 제언한다. Downtown neighborhoods with high levels of diversity, openness, and accessibility have become new population centers of the post-industrial city. The live, work, play (LWP) center theory, which argues that the concentration of office, residential, commercial, and cultural spaces in downtown areas promotes free interaction among diverse people, attracts creative talent, and produces urban creativity, emphasizes the importance of pedestrian environments and mixed-use development. This study shows that the LWP center theory can explain Seoul’s Mayongseong phenomenon, the rise of three Seoul districts as population centers since the mid-2000s. The three districts, Mayongseong, have emerged as new LWP centers and what is important for urban planners is the sequence of LWP development. In Mayongseong, retail development(play) came first, followed by office(work) and residential(live) development. Based on the findings, we recommend an LWP center policy that focuses on retail district development. Once an attractive retail district is formed, jobs and housing follow.
