This study presents the development and investigation of a steady and transient simulation model of Heat Recovery Steam Generator for Combined Cycle Power Plant. A power plant is basically operated at its design condition. However, it also operates on the off-design condition because of the cyclic operation. Therefore, the transient behavior of the system should be investigated to guarantee safe operation and more flexible control of the power plant. In this study, dynamic simulation was performed to analyze the transient behavior of a Bottoming Cycle of Combined Cycle power plant including heat recovery steam generator and steam turbine. Each component of the bottoming cycle was mathematically modeled and integrated. Transient behavior of the bottoming cycle was analyzed at the part load condition of gas turbine when rapid change on the gas turbine load was occurred. The result of the developed model was validated with commercial software Aspen HYSYS at the same gas turbine load change condition. Result shows a good agreement with maximum error of about 2%.
