Thousands of new chemicals have been introduced to environment during last decades. Many of them and common consumer products have been shown to be the endocrine disrupting chemicals. One such chemical group is the phthalates, used in soft poly vinyl chloride (PVC) material and in a huge number of consumer products. The prevalence of these modem chemicals have a remarkable increase. Approximately 3.5 million tons of the main phthalate, di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), are produced annually worldwide and indeed, DEHP is considered a ubiquitous environmental contaminant. It has been demonstrated that high doses of phthalate can adversely affect adult and developing animals. In this review, we critically discuss the conclusions of recently original research papers and provide an overview of studies on reproductive disrupting effects of phthalates. In addition, we review the reproductive toxicity data of phthalates in some in vitro research and in both male and female reproductive systems in experimental and domestic animals. Finally, we point out some critical issues that should be addressed in order to clarify the implication of phthalates for human reproduction.

One new C29 sterol with a cyclopropane ring at C-25 and C-26, aragusteroketal B (1), and aragusterol B (2) were isolated from the Vietnamese marine sponge Ianthella sp. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses. Both 1 and 2 showed moderate cytotoxic activity against MCF-7, SK-Hep-1, and HeLa cell lines with IC50 in the range of 12.8-27.8 μM.
Exploring Critical Risk Factors of Office Building Projects

Risks and uncertainty are unavoidable problems in management of projects. Therefore, project managers should not only prevent risks, but also have to respond and manage them. Risk management has become a critical interest subject in the construction industry for both practitioners and researchers. This paper presents critical risk factors of office building projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey based on the likelihood and consequence level of risk factors. These factors fell into five groups: (i) financial risk factors; (ii) management risk factors; (iii) schedule risk factors; (iv) construction risk factors; and (v) environment risk factors. The research results showed that critical factors affecting office building projects are natural (i.e., prolonged rain, storms, climate effects) and human-made issues (i.e., soil instability, safety behaviors, owner's design change) and the schedule-related risk factors contributed to the most significant risks for office buildings projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City. They give construction management and project management practitioners a new perspective on risks and risk management of office buildings projects in Ho Chi Minh City and are proactive in the awareness, response, and management of risk factors comprehensively.

<B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>Highly crystalline P(VDF-TrFE) materials have a large remnant polarization that causes the ID–VD curves to have no current saturation in the region where they normally would. This high crystallinity also results in a positive pyroelectricity, which is different from the conventional low response and nonlinear negative pyroelectricity. <img src='wiley_img/09359648-2009-21-8-ADMA200801831-content.gif' alt='wiley_img/09359648-2009-21-8-ADMA200801831-content'> </P>

We propose a modification of the interface roughness (IFR) scattering form factor in intersubbandtransitions. We properly derived a formula for the form factor for IFR scattering in terms of theintegrals of the envelope wave functions. This new form factor has a more global natural than theold one (proposed by Ando) and may be suitable for a wide range of applications. In this paper,we calculate and compare the absorption linewidths by applying of the old form factor and thenew one. Different from previous calculations, for the same surface profile (, ), the interfaceroughness scattering absorption linewidth calculated with the new form factor is twice as great asthat calculated with the old one. Our numerical calculations may better explain the experimentalresults for the well-width dependence of the intersubband absorption linewidth.

This paper proposes an efficient and low complexity power-loading algorithm for MIMO-OFDM downlink based cognitive radio system that maximizes the sum rate of single secondary user (SU) under constraints on the tolerable interference thresholds between secondary user and primary user`s frequency bands and the total transmission power. Our suboptimal algorithm is based on the 2nd order interference tracking and nulling mechanism to allocate transmission power of the subcarriers among SU`s scheme. The performance of our proposed suboptimal scheme is compared with the performance of the classical power loading algorithms, e.g., water filling, 1st order interference tracking, nulling, and other suboptimal schemes. Numerical results show that our algorithm has low complexity but obtains a higher channel capacity than that of some previous suboptimal algorithms in some scenarios. We dedicate also that for a given interference threshold, the 2nd order interference tracking mechanism has dynamic number of nulling position instead fixed number of nulling position.
