In the preceding symposium, we presented the result of the phylogenetic analysis of Stigmaeopsis spider mites (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Japan using sequence data of the Cytochrome Oxidase subunit I (COI) region of mitochondria DNA. We analyzed haplotypes representing S. longus, S. celarius, S. takahashii and S. saharai, which inhabit bamboo species of the genera Sasa and Phyllostachys (Poaceae; Bambusoideae), and two forms of S. miscanthi (HG and LW) living on Miscanthus sinensis (Poaceae; Panicoideae). Both neighborjoining and maximum-likelihood methods revealed that Stigmaeopsis consists of seven monophyletic groups, in which two forms of S. miscanthi form two distinct monophyletic groups, whereas four species of bamboo-inhabiting species comprise a polyphyletic assembly. These results imply a mismatch between diagnostic morphological characters (i.e. the length of dorsal setae) and their phylogenetic lineages for bamboo-inhabiting species, requiring re-evaluation of the use of these characters. In addition, our results indicate that plural lineages coexist in a single habitat at various regions, suggesting that differentiated lineages secondarily encounter around southwestern Japan. Interestingly, the result of phylogenetic analysis on mitochondrial COI and nuclear ITS1 region was, in part, inconsistent in internal branches. In this symposium, I re-analyzed more these data by phylogenetic network analysis. Based on the results, I make some inference about the process of habitat expansion of these mites.

Electronic properties of a new ternary f-electron system RP ₃Al5 (R: rare earth elements) have been investigated. RPt ₃Al5 crystalizes in the CePt ₃Al5-type orthorhombic structure where R atoms form 1-dimensional chains along the b-axis. LaPt ₃Al5 shows superconductivity below 0.4 K, while others show magnetic ordering. CePt ₃Al5 orders antiferromagnetically below TN = 1.2 K with spontaneous moment and shows successive magnetic transition at Tm = 0.9 K. The nearly divalent antiferromagnet EuPt ₃Al5 indicates an unusual valence cross-over behavior into the nearly trivalent state under high pressure of 9 GPa. It is also found that most of RPt ₃Al5 orders antiferromagnetically and, in some cases, shows characteristic features in magnetic suscep- tibility, where the broad maximum appears slightly above TN, reecting the low-dimensional nature.
Expression Analysis of an APETALA1/FRUITFULL-like Gene in Phalaenopsis sp. ‘Hatsuyuki’ (Orchidaceae)
송인자,Tatsuya Fukuda,고석민,Takuro Ito,Jun Yokoyama,Hiroyuki Ichikawa,Yoh Horikawa,Toshiaki Kameya,Akira Kanno,이효연 한국원예학회 2011 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.52 No.2
Members of the APETALA1 (AP1)/FRUITFULL (FUL)-like gene family of MADS-box genes play important roles in controlling the development of floral organs. To understand the molecular mechanisms of floral development in orchid, we isolated and characterized a Phalaenopsis AP1/FUL-like gene, PhalFUL. The results of phylogenetic analysis indicated that PhalFUL is in the monocots group of AP1/FUL-like gene. PhalFUL transcripts were detected in the flower buds, but not in vegetative organs. Moreover, in situ hybridization experiments revealed PhalFUL hybridization signals in all floral organ primordia at a very early stage of floral development, and continued expression in the column of whorls 3 and 4 until late developmental stages. These expression patterns were similar to those of the FUL-like genes in Arabidopsis (FUL) and Antirrhinum (DEFH28), suggesting that the PhalFUL is similar in function to FUL and DEFH28.

Background: This study aimed to examine whether the combination of low-dose ketamine and propofol in deep sedation is clinically useful in controlling the behavior in intellectually disabled patients who are typically extremely noncooperative during dental procedures. Methods: A total of 107 extremely noncooperative intellectually disabled adult patients were analyzed. In all patients, deep sedation was performed using either propofol alone (group P) or using a combination of propofol and 0.2 mg/kg or 0.4 mg/kg ketamine (groups PK0.2 and PK0.4, respectively). The procedures were performed in the order of insertion of nasal cannula into the nostril, attachment of mouth gag, and mouth cleaning and scaling. The frequency of patient movement during the procedures, mean arterial pressure, heart rate, peripheral oxygen saturation, recovery time, discharge time, and postoperative nausea and vomiting were examined. Results: The three groups were significantly different only in the frequency of patient movement upon stimulation during single intravenous injection of propofol and scaling. Conclusion: For propofol deep sedation, in contrast to intravenous injection of propofol alone, prior intravenous injection of low-dose ketamine (0.4 mg/kg) is clinically useful because it neither affects recovery, nor causes side effects and can suppress patient movement and vascular pain during procedures.
