Low-power Environmental Monitoring System for ZigBee Wireless Sensor Network

( Tareq Alhmiedat ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.10

Environmental monitoring systems using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) face the challenge of high power consumption, due to the high levels of multi-hop data communication involved. In order to overcome the issue of fast energy depletion, a proof-of-concept implementation proves that adopting a clustering algorithm in environmental monitoring applications will significantly reduce the total power consumption for environment sensor nodes. In this paper, an energy-efficient WSN-based environmental monitoring system is proposed and implemented, using eight sensor nodes deployed over an area of 1 ㎢, which took place in the city of Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. The effectiveness of the proposed environmental monitoring system has been demonstrated through adopting a number of real experimental studies.

Seven generalized types of soft semi-compact spaces

        Tareq Mohammed Al-shami,Mohammed E. El-Shafei,Mohammed Abo-Elhamayel 강원경기수학회 2019 한국수학논문집 Vol.27 No.3

The soft compactness notion via soft topological spaces was first studied in [10,29]. In this work, soft semi-open sets are utilized to initiate seven new kinds of generalized soft semi-compactness, namely soft semi-Lindel\"{o}fness, almost (approximately, mildly) soft semi-compactness and almost (approximately, mildly) soft semi- Lindel\"{o}fness. The relationships among them are shown with the help of illustrative examples and the equivalent conditions of each one of them are investigated. Also, the behavior of these spaces under soft semi-irresolute maps are investigated. Furthermore, the enough conditions for the equivalence among the four sorts of soft semi-compact spaces and for the equivalence among the four sorts of soft semi-Lindel\"{o}f spaces are explored. The relationships between enriched soft topological spaces and the initiated spaces are discussed in different cases. Finally, some properties which connect some of these spaces with some soft topological notions such as soft semi-connectedness, soft semi $T_2$-spaces and soft subspaces are obtained.

The Investigation of Employing Supervised Machine Learning Models to Predict Type 2 Diabetes Among Adults

Tareq Alhmiedat,Mohammed Alotaibi 한국인터넷정보학회 2022 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.16 No.9

Currently, diabetes is the most common chronic disease in the world, affecting 23.7% of the population in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Diabetes may be the cause of lower-limb amputations, kidney failure and blindness among adults. Therefore, diagnosing the disease in its early stages is essential in order to save human lives. With the revolution in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could play a central role in the early prediction of diabetes by employing Machine Learning (ML) technology. In this paper, we developed a diagnosis system using machine learning models for the detection of type 2 diabetes among adults, through the adoption of two different diabetes datasets: one for training and the other for the testing, to analyze and enhance the prediction accuracy. This work offers an enhanced classification accuracy as a result of employing several pre-processing methods before applying the ML models. According to the obtained results, the implemented Random Forest (RF) classifier offers the best classification accuracy with a classification score of 98.95%.

      • Cost-based Cooperative Strategy to Search Mobile Evader in Roadmap based Environment

Tareq Rezaul Haque,ChangHwan Kim 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

This paper presents a cooperative approach of searching an evading target with multiple mobile robots in roadmap based environment. In our solution, robots are only able to move through the road and target can move to any reachable area in the environment. The searching robots have a sensor with a half-circular footprint which allows it to detect any evader within the sensor radius. The solution has two steps. The first problem is to determine a virtual boundary and the number of robots to search the virtual boundary while ensuring that the target will be inside the virtual boundary till the search is over. The second problem is to search the virtual boundary. We proposed a cost-based online search path planner to solve the searching problem. Implementation of our technique in simulator shows that it can efficiently and robustly search the virtual boundary.

      • Analysis of photothermal response in a two-dimensional semiconducting material thermally excited by pulse heat flux

Tareq Saeed,Ibrahim Abbas 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.82 No.4

A mathematical model of Lord-Shulman photo-thermal theorem induced by pulse heat flux is presented to study the propagations waves for plasma, thermal and elastic in two-dimensional semiconductor materials. The medium is assumed initially quiescent. By using Laplace-Fourier transforms with the eigenvalue method, the variables are obtained analytically. A semiconductor medium such as silicon is investigated. The displacements, stresses, the carrier density and temperature distributions are calculated numerically and clarified graphically. The outcomes show that thermal relaxation time has varying degrees of effects on the studying fields.

      • Antimicrobial Gageomacrolactins Characterized from the Fermentation of the Marine-Derived Bacterium <i>Bacillus subtilis</i> under Optimum Growth Conditions

Tareq, Fakir Shahidullah,Kim, Ji Hye,Lee, Min Ah,Lee, Hyi-Seung,Lee, Jong-Seok,Lee, Yeon-Ju,Shin, Hee Jae American Chemical Society 2013 Journal of agricultural and food chemistry Vol.61 No.14

<P>Marine bacteria are a potential source of structurally diversified bioactive secondary metabolites that are not found in terrestrial sources. In our continuous effort to search for new antimicrobial agents from marine-derived bacteria, we isolated bacterial strain 109GGC020 from a marine sediment sample collected from Gageocho, Republic of Korea. The strain was identified as <I>Bacillus subtilis</I> based on a 16s rRNA sequence analysis. After a 7-day fermentation of the <I>B. subtilis</I> strain under optimum growth conditions three new and four known secondary metabolites were discovered using chromatographic procedures, and their biological activities were evaluated against both bacteria and crop-devastating fungi. The discovered metabolites were confirmed by extensive 2D NMR and high-resolution ESI-MS data analyses to have the structures of new macrolactin derivatives gageomacrolactins <B>1</B>–<B>3</B> and known macrolactins A (<B>4</B>), B (<B>5</B>), F (<B>6</B>), and W (<B>7</B>). The stereoconfigurations of <B>1</B>–<B>3</B> were assigned based on coupling constant values, chemical derivatization studies, and a literature review. The coupling constants were very crucial to determine the relative geometries of olefins in <B>1</B>–<B>3</B> because of overlap of the 1H NMR signals. The NMR data of these compounds were recorded in different solvents to overcome this problem and obtain accurate coupling constant values. The new macrolactin derivatives <B>1</B>–<B>3</B> displayed good antibiotic properties against both Gram-positive (<I>S. aureus</I>,<I> B. subtilis</I>, and <I>B. cereus</I>) and Gram-negative (<I>E. coli</I>,<I> S. typhi</I>, and <I>P. aeruginosa</I>) bacteria with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 0.02–0.05 μM. Additionally, the antifungal activities of <B>1</B>–<B>7</B> were evaluated against pathogenic fungi and found to inhibit mycelial growth of <I>A. niger</I>,<I> B. cinerea</I>,<I> C. acutatum</I>,<I> C. albicans</I>, and <I>R. solani</I> with MIC values of 0.04–0.3 μM, demonstrating that these compounds were good fungicides.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jafcau/2013/jafcau.2013.61.issue-14/jf4009229/production/images/medium/jf-2013-009229_0008.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jf4009229'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
