        Clinicopathological role of kidney injury molecule-1 in immunoglobulin A nephropathy

        Background: Urinary kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) is an early and sensitivebiomarker of acute kidney injury, but it is unclear if it is a biomarker of chronicglomerulonephritis. We evaluated whether urinary KIM-1 levels in patients withimmunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy can be a marker to reflect clinicopathologicalseverity and predict the prognosis. Methods: We measured urinary KIM-1 levels in 40 patients (15 males; mean age36.6712.9 years) with IgA nephropathy and 10 healthy people (5 males; mean age37.379.6 years) as controls. The correlation of urinary KIM-1 levels with patients’clinical parameters, histological grades, and follow-up data were analyzed using themodified H. S. Lee grading system and tubulointerstitial change scores. Results: Urinary KIM-1 levels were higher in patients with IgA nephropathy thanhealthy controls (P¼0.001). Univariate and multivariate regression analyses showedthat urinary KIM-1 levels had a direct correlation with H. S. Lee grade andtubulointerstitial inflammation (P¼0.004 and P¼0.011, respectively). Conclusion: In patients with IgA nephropathy, urinary KIM-1 has a significantcorrelation with histopathologic severity.

        Meso-Dihydroguaiaretic Acid Isolated from Saururus chinensis Inhibits Cyclooxygenase-2 and 5-Lipoxygenase in Mouse Bone Marrow-Derived Mast Cells

        Meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid (MDGA) is a medicinal herbal product isolated from the aerial parts of Saururus chinensis that inhibits the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-dependent phase of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) generation in bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMC) (IC50 9.8 μM). However, this compound did not inhibit COX-2 protein expression in BMMC at concentrations up to 30 μM, indicating that MDGA directly inhibits COX-2 activity. In addition, this compound consistently inhibited the production of leukotriene C4 (IC50 1.3 μM). These results demonstrate that MDGA inhibits both COX-2 and 5-lipoxygenase. Furthermore, this compound strongly inhibited the degranulation reaction in BMMC (IC50 11.4 μM). Therefore, this compound might provide a basis for novel anti-inflammatory drug development.

      • 체육〔무도〕관련학과 학생들의 대학생활에 대한 전망과 과제

        이 연구에서는 체육․무도 관련학과 학생들을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 이들의 대학생활에 대한 전반적인 문제점을 심층적으로 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적 달성을 위해서 전라남도 D대학교 체육관련 학과 학생들을 대상으로 비확률 표집방법 중 하나인 유목적 표집(purposeful sampling)에 의해 2학년부터 4학년까지 각 학년별 4명씩 총 12명으로 선정하였는데 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 체육․무도 관련학과 학생들의 대학생활에는 선․후배 간 체벌문화가 현재까지도 잠재되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 학생들은 선배들의 올바른 역할과 선․후배 간의 단합과 화합을 위한 매개체 요인이 필요하다는 의견을 보였다. 둘째, 체육․무도 관련학과와 같은 상․하 관계가 뚜렷한 집단에서는 선․후배간의 의사소통이 더욱 필요하지만 원활히 이루어지지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 원활한 의사소통을 위해 다양한 개선을 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 체육․무도 관련학과 학생들은 대학생활에서 수업관련 문제점에 대해 가장 큰 비중을 두고 있었고 개선에 대한 욕구를 보였다. 특히 체육․무도 관련학과 전공수업에서는 무엇보다도 교수의 지도능력과 현실성 있는 교과과정 개설을 원하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 체육관련 전공자들은 보편적으로 타 전공자들에 비해 취업의 기회 및 관련분야가 상대적으로 적을 수도 있다. 이러한 사회현실은 이들로 하여금 심리적인 불안을 갖게 하였으며 체육관련학과를 선택한 자체에 대한 불만족이기 보다는 체육․무도 관련 전공을 이수하고 나와서 안정적인 직장으로 연결되지 못하는 사회 제반적 여건에 대한 문제점을 보였다. 따라서 체육․무도 관련학과 학생들은 취업관심분야에 대한 업무능력․관련지식 등의 자질과 조건을 갖추기 위해 큰 관심을 가지고 있다. 취업정보 및 자격증 취득 등 취업을 위한 사전준비도 철저히 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

        우리나라 사람면역결핍바이러스(Human Immunodeficiency Virus) 감염환자에서 발병한 악성종양

        Background : Since highly active antiretroviral therapy has lengthened the life span of individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the importance of malignancy associated with HIV has been increased. The relative frequencies of malignancies in HIV infected patients may vary in different race and region. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence and characteristics of malignancies in patients with HIV infection in South Korea. Materials and Methods : To identify HIV patients with malignancy, we reviewed the electronic database of pathological reports for all HIV-infected patients seen from January 1986 to December 2005 at the Seoul National University Hospital. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of them. Results : Among 850 patients infected with HIV, 33 episodes of malignant diseases were diagnosed in 32 patients (3.76%). Thirty were males, and median age was 46 years (range 29-70). At the time of the diagnosis of malignancy, median CD4^(+) lymphocytes count was 100/uL (range 5-620) and in 27 (82%) patients, CD4^(+) lymphocytes count were less than 200/uL. For 13 patients (40%), malignancy was initial presentation of HIV infection. Excluding patients initially diagnosed as malignancy, median follow-up duration from the first visit to diagnosis of malignancy was 36 months (range 3-96). Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was the most frequent malignancy (13 patients), followed by Kaposi's sarcoma (7), Hodgkin‘s disease (3), acute myeloid leukemia (1), and other solid cancer (9) including one case of anal cancer associated with human papillomavirus. Among 13 patients with non- Hodgkin's lymphoma, 4(31%) achieved the complete remission after chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, and had been followed without evidence of recurrence. Conclusion : Malignancy was diagnosed in 3.76% of patients infected with HIV. Non-Hodgkin‘s lymphoma is the most prevalent malignancy in HIV patients in South Korea. 목적 : 효과적인 항레트로바이러스 다제요법이 도입됨에 따라, HIV 감염환자들의 수명이 증가되었고, 이에 따라 HIV 감염환자에서 악성종양의 중요성 또한 증가하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 HIV 감염환자에서 악성종양의 유병률과 호발하는 악성종양의 특성을 밝히는 것이다. 재료 및 방법 : 1986년부터 2005년까지 서울대학교병원에서 치료를 받은 HIV 감염환자의 의무기록을 후향적으로 분석하였고, 병리학적 검사 결과를 검토하여 악성종양이 진단된 환자들을 대상으로 연구를 시행하였다. 결과 : 총 850명의 환자 중, 32명(3.76%)에서 33예의 악성종양이 진단되어, 악성종양의 발병률은 1,000인년 당13.0명(95% 신뢰구간: 8.6∼17.4명)이었다. 그 중 남자는 30명이었고, 악성종양 진단 당시 연령의 중간값은 46 (29-70)세이었다. 악성종양 진단받을 당시, CD4 림프구 수의 중간값은 lOO/uL (5-620 uL) 이었고, CD4 림프구수가 200/ uL 미만인 환자가 27명(82%)이었다. 악성종양에 대한 검사 도중에 HIV 감염사실이 밝혀진 환자가 13명(40%)이었다. HIV를 진단 받은 후 악성종양이 발병한 환자들에서, HIV 진단 후 악성종양의 발병까지는 평균 36개월(3-96개월)이 걸렸다. 13명의 HIV 감염 환자에서 진단된 비호지킨림프종이 가장 흔한 악성종양이었고, 이외에 카포시육종이 7명, 호지킨병이 3명, HPV와 연관된 항문암이 1명의 HIV 환자에서 진단되었다. 그 밖에 급성백혈병, 방광암, 췌장장, 폐암, 진행성위암, 갑상선암, 간세포암, 후두암이 각각 1예씩 진단되었다. 비호지킨림프종이 진단된13명 환자 중, 4명(31%)은 항암치료 및 방사선치료를 받아 완전관해가 되었고, 현재 재발의 증거 없이 외래에서 경과 관찰 중이다. 결론 : 우리나라 HIV 감염환자에서 악성종양의 유병률은 3.76%이었고, 비호지킨림프종이 가장 흔한 악성종양이었다.

      • 객체 모델링 기법을 위한 그래픽 도구 설계

        In this paper, we analyze and design the OMM(Object Model Manager) system which is a graphic editing tool to support the OMT(Object Modeling Technique) methodology. This methodology is based on the use of an object-oriented notation to describe classes and relationships throughout the life-cycle. The Object Model is the major component of the OMT and it is augmented with a Dynamic Model and a Functional Model to describe all aspects of a target system. The analysis phase consists of developing a model of what the system is supposed to do. The design phase consists of optimizing, refining, and extending the models. Especially, the OMM system to be developed is focused on supporting the Object Model. We have just followed OMT methodology to build a exact model for the OMM system. Finally we provide several results of diagrams which concisely abstract the target system. These results should became the foundation of a successful system implementation.

        The stream flow duration curve is veried by annual rainfall amount but the low flow is very stabilized without rainfall, Because the factors of detemining the low flow are groundwater. Germophologic characteristic and Canopy density, etc. In recent river works, conservation of nature is main issue in basin, so the low flow is very important factor for the restoration of streams or rivers. The Statge-Discharge relationship curve is estimated for controlling the flood control and maintained the bank, so the low flow Stage-Discharge is not explained the low flow duration exactly. Therefore, in this study, the low flow Statge-Discharge relationship is re-estimated and comparison between the two stage station, the one is Jindong located downstream in Nakdong River, another is Waegoan located in upstream, is taken for the accuracy of re-estimated low flow stage-discharge relaltionship.

        The purpose of this paper is to construct a reverse engineering environment that extracts useful information from Java legacy code and enables to make EJB components. The subsystems that we want to implement in this paper includes a Java program analyzer, a class diagram generator, a sequence diagram generator and a metrics information analyzer. The Java program analyzer is a subsystem which extract useful information from source code by conducting syntax analysis for Java code. The class diagram generator is a subsystem which generates data to construct class diagrams from the Java program analyzer. The sequence diagram generator generates data to construct sequence diagrams by analyzing message sending relations between member functions of Java program. The metrics information analyzer extracts metrics data for each package or class of Java program. This paper discusses design/implementation Issues of the Java reverse engineering tool. We can achieve a maintenance goal for Java legacy system and have a good environment for EJB component construction with this tool. The further research issues expected are activities to enhance system reliability and to develop test case for applying this tool to practical situations.

        A vibration monitoring is performed on a 1kW class stand alone wind turbine(W/T). When a W/T model is developed, general performance under various wind condition should be verified to introduce the product in the market. Especially, vibration characteristics within operating speed range are very important in the aspect of structural stability as well as generator's electrical efficiency. This paper examines the vibration performance of a home made 1kW W/T. Various data of the W/T model are acquired in real time using a remote vibration monitoring system installed in Daekwanryung test site. Vibration stability of the W/T structure is diagnosed based upon the data and the result is used to estimate the applicability of the W/T model.

      • 객체 지향 메타 CASE(Computer Aided Software Engineering) 도구 설계

        Although general CASE tools contribute to increase software productivity, they have serious drawbacks not to support dynamic evolution of method notations and to be unable to customize notations. The solution for these problems is to develop an object-oriented(OO) meta-CASE tool which enables users to define their own method notations. In this paper, the design for an OO meta-CASE tool named OODesigner+ is proposed. In order to provide detailed design for OODesigner+, we survey current CASE tools technology and try to define precise requirement specification for the tool. We also provide the enactment scenario for the environment, overall design architecture and class design for important subsystem component. If we implement the tool as a further research, it will significantly contribute to increase software productivity.

      • OODesigner에 대한 OLE 컨테이너 기능의 적용

        Research and development projects, in the past decade, has shown that object-oriented(OO) technology could importantly contribute in productivity and resuability improvement. There are various research areas related to OO technology. Two of major research fields in this areas are concerned in issues for CASE tools and component-based technologies. This paper discusses an example of applying component-based technology to a CASE tool. This paper proposes the research experience gained while we have incrementally developing OODesigner, an OO CASE tool, with compound document support functionality based on COM/OLE technology. As OODesigner with OLE container functionality has interoperability with other application programs of Windows system which can be run as a OLE server, it can provide more powerful documentation environment than other CASE tools. OODesigner can be used not only to design UML diagrams, but also to make documentation cooperatively with various kinds of OLE-enabled software like Recoder and Excel. Therefore we can conduct powerful and consistent documentation with the tool.
