Methyl-3-O-methyl gallate (M3MG) is a rare natural product with close structural similarity to gallic acid. In the present report, the isolation of M3MG from Peltiphyllum peltatum leaves and its comparative antioxidant, prooxidant, and cytotoxicity to neuronal SH-SY5Y cells are discussed. When tested in concentrations up to 1 mM, M3MG consistently showed antioxidant activity without prooxidant effect both in cell and cell-free assay models. In contrast to M3MG, gallic acid showed a copper-dependent prooxidant effect that resulted in DNA damage, increased the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species, and induced cytotoxicity in neuronal cells. The identification of M3MG in P. peltatum leaves is furtherz evidence of the great antioxidant potential and nutritional value of the plant.
Mediating Effects of Perceived Justice between Compensation Communication and Job Satisfaction
Solomon Agbanyo(솔로몬),Jeong Eon Lee(이정언) 한국콘텐츠학회 2016 한국콘텐츠학회논문지 Vol.16 No.7
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is a statistical relationship between compensation communication and job satisfaction. The empirical study indicates that there is a positive relationship between compensation communication and organizational justice. The results suggest that employees’ fairness perception is enhanced when information about compensation is relevant, accurate, and timely. Furthermore, the statistical results proved that a significant positive relationship exists between organizational justice and job satisfaction. The findings of this study reveal that when employees understand how their compensation is determined and allocated, they feel more fairly treated. The research enhances past studies by utilizing the most widely accepted measure of job satisfaction dimensions, as well as all measures of organizational justice.
Privacy-preserving Attribute Matchmaking in Proximity-based Mobile Social Networks
Solomon Sarpong,Chunxiang Xu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.5
The major impediments that mostly arise in matchmaking in mobile social networks are ensuring the privacy of users’ attributes, finding the intersection of attributes of the matched-pair without revealing any other information, and ensuring that the matched-pair get to know the intersection mutually. Also, in virtually all the existing protocols, the initiator of the matchmaking does not set a threshold number of common attributes an individual should have with him/her before qualifying as a pair. Hence, we propose a hybrid matchmaking cryptographic protocol that will overcome these impediments. In our proposed protocol, an initiator of matchmaking sets a threshold number of common attributes that an individual should have to qualify as a matching-pair. The protocol also ensures that no information about the intersection set is leaked to persons not in the protocol. To further enhance the security and privacy in the protocol, the attributes of the persons our protocol are authorized. The authorization of the attributes is intended to thwart malicious behavior by the persons in the protocol and hence, prevents semi-honest attacks. Furthermore, in this proposed protocol, persons in the protocol get to know the intersection of their attributes mutually.
Prevalence of Antibiotics in Nectar and Honey in South Tamilnadu, India
Solomon, RD. Jebakumar,Santhi, V. Satheeja,Jayaraj, Vimalan The Korean Society for Integrative Biology 2006 Integrative biosciences Vol.10 No.3
Reverse-Phase High-performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC) based technique is one of the most sensitive techniques to detect the antibiotics present in honey. In the southern part of Tamilnadu, India, majority of the farmlands are occupied by plantations such as coconut, banana and rubber. A variety of antimicrobial compounds and antibiotics, which have been reported in pollen, nectar and other floral parts of the plant, gets accumulated in honey through honeybees (Apis mellifera). We have collected the nectar samples from banana (Musa paridasiaca) and rubber (Ficus elastica) flowers and the honey from honey hives of banana and rubber cultivated areas. The extracted nectar and honey samples are subjected to RP-HPLC analysis with authentic antibiotic standards. Nectar and honey samples showed 4-17, 11-29 ${\mu}g/kg$ of streptomycin, 2-29, 3-44 ${\mu}g/kg$ of ampicillin and 17-34, 26-48 ${\mu}g/kg$ of kanamycin respectively.
