        Bone Mineral Density and Risk Factors of Osteoporosis in Healthy Men and Women

        목적. 본 연구의 목적은 골다공증의 유병률을 확인하고 건강증진 프로그램의 우선적 대상을 확인하고자 실시되었다. 방법. 연구대상지는 Ansan Health Study센터를 방문한 18-84세의 성인 남녀 1,269명이었다. 위험요인을 평가하기 위한 질문지를 이용하였고 DEXA(Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry)를 이용하여 2-4번 요추와 대퇴의 골밀도를 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS12.0프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과. 골밀도는 50대와 60대 여성에게서 급격히 감소하였으며, 골다공증 유병률은 대퇴와 요추를 기준으로 남성은 각각 0.8%, 6.3%, 여성은 0.9%와 7.1%로 나타났다. 골다공증 지식 정도는 골밀도와 유의한 순상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론. 본 연구의 결괴는 골다공증 예방 프로그램을 위한 효과적이고 실제적인 중재전략을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다. Aims. The aims of this study were to identify the prevalence of osteoporosis and confirm the priority for health promotion program on the osteoporosis. Methods. 1,269 adults aged 18-84 years participated in this study from the Ansan Health Study sample. A questionnaire was used to evaluate the risk factors, and a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry was used to measure the bone mineral density in the anteroposterior lumbar spine and femur. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results. BMD was decreased rapidly in females in their 50s and 60s and the overall incidence of osteoporosis based on the femur and the lumbar spine was 0.8% and 6.3% for males and 0.9% and 7.1% for females. Osteoporosis knowledge was significantly correlated with BMD. Conclusions. The results of this study can be applied to provide effective and practical implementation guidelines for osteoporosis prevention program.

        The Effects of Clinical Practice Stress and Resilience on Nursing Students' Academic Burnout

        The high degree of academic burnout experienced during academic life indicates that job skill levels during the first year following graduation are low, and the correlation with turnover intention is high. We investigated the effects of clinical practice stress and resilience on nursing students' burnout, and searched for factors that can prevent or control burnout. We recruited a convenience sample of 202 nursing students. Academic burnout, general characteristics, clinical practice stress, and resilience were assessed via self-reported questionnaires. The mean total score of academic burnout was 44.0 points; exhaustion was the highest at 18.5 points, inefficacy was 15.9 points, and cynicism was 9.6 points. High levels of clinical practice stress affected academic burnout (β=0.194, p=0.003), while high resilience was a factor that lowered the degree of academic burnout (β=-0.449, p<0.001). Based on our results, factors affecting students' experiences of academic burnout were clinical practice stress and resilience. We therefore propose the implementation of a new curriculum aimed at increasing satisfaction with the major, reducing clinical practice stress, and increasing resilience, including an efficient peer mentoring program for clinical practice.

        Polymerizations of methyl methacrylate and <i>rac</i>-lactide by 4-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes supported by <i>N</i>′-substituted <i>N</i>,<i>N</i>′,<i>N</i>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)amine derivatives

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The novel complexes <B>[L<SUB>n</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> (L<SUB>n</SUB> = L<SUB>A</SUB> − L<SUB>H</SUB>), containing the <I>N,N</I>-chelating ligands <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)aniline (<B>L<SUB>A</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-3,5-dimethylaniline (<B>L<SUB>B</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-3,5-dimethylaniline (<B>L<SUB>C</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-3,5-dimethylaniline (<B>L<SUB>D</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-methoxyaniline (<B>L<SUB>E</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-methoxyaniline (<B>L<SUB>F</SUB> </B>), <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-fluoroaniline (<B>L<SUB>G</SUB> </B>) and <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-fluoroaniline (<B>L<SUB>H</SUB> </B>), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The molecular structures of these Co(II) complexes showed a distorted tetrahedral geometry. No interaction exists between the N<SUB>amine</SUB> atom and the Co(II) centre in the <B>[L<SUB>n</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> complexes, thus resulting in the formation of an eight membered chelate ring. <B>[L<SUB>D</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> exhibited the highest catalytic activity (4.02 × 10<SUP>4</SUP> g PMMA/molCo h) for the polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO) at 60 °C and yielded poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) with high molecular weight (M<SUB>w</SUB>) (10.5 × 10<SUP>5</SUP> g/mol). Syndiotactic enriched PMMA was obtained with <I>T</I> <SUB>g</SUB> in range 123–130 °C. The MMA polymerization activity of the complexes in the current study should not be solely considered as a function of the total steric hindrance from the ligands around the metal center. The dimethyl derivatives <B>[L<SUB>n</SUB>CoMe<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> (L<SUB>n</SUB> = L<SUB>A</SUB> − L<SUB>H</SUB>), generated <I>in situ</I>, effectively polymerized <I>rac</I>-lactide (<I>rac</I>-LA) and yielded polylactide (PLA) with good number-average molecular weights and narrower polydispersity indices (PDIs). The electronic density around the metal center in these dimethyl cobalt initiators seemed to enhance the activity, while the stereoselectivity is negatively affected. Thus, the presence or absence of a methyl group in the pyrazole ring moiety influences not only the activity of the Co(II) complexes in the MMA polymerization, but also the stereoselectivity of the Co(II) initiators in the ROP of <I>rac</I>-LA.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>A series of Co(II) complexes, <B>[L<SUB>n</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> (L<SUB>n</SUB> = L<SUB>A</SUB> − L<SUB>H</SUB>), supported by <I>N</I>′-substituted <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)amine derivatives has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The 4-coordinate complex <B>[L<SUB>D</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> exhibited the highest activity (5.02 × 10<SUP>4</SUP> g PMMA/molCo h) for MMA polymerization in the presence of MMAO at 60 °C, compared to the other complexes in the series, giving syndiotactic PMMA with a high molecular weight (11.5 × 10<SUP>5</SUP> g/mol). The <I>in situ</I> generated dimethyl derivatives, <B>[L<SUB>n</SUB>CoMel<SUB>2</SUB>]</B> (L<SUB>n</SUB> = L<SUB>A</SUB> − L<SUB>H</SUB>), effectively polymerized the ROP of <I>rac</I>-LA and yielded heterotactic (<I>P</I> <SUB>r</SUB> = 0.85) PLA with good number-average molecular weights and narrow polydispersity indices.         Synthesis and structural characterization of 5-coordinate cobalt(II), copper(II) and 4-coordinate zinc(II) complexes containing <i>N</i>′-cyclopentyl substituted <i>N</i>,<i>N</i>-bispyrazolylmethylamine

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Novel [<B>L<SUB>n</SUB>MCl<SUB>2</SUB> </B>] complexes (L<SUB>n</SUB> =L<SUB>A</SUB>, L<SUB>B</SUB>; M=Co, Cu, Zn) containing the <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-chelating ligands <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)cyclopentanamine (<B>L<SUB>A</SUB> </B>) and <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)cyclopentanamine (<B>L<SUB>B</SUB> </B>) have been synthesized and characterized. The X-ray crystal structures of the Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes revealed that the ligands are coordinated in an <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-tridentate manner, resulting in distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometries through the coordinative interaction of the nitrogen atom of the cyclopentylamine moiety and the metal centers. [<B>L<SUB>A</SUB>ZnCl<SUB>2</SUB> </B>] showed a distorted tetrahedral geometry involving a non-coordinative interaction of the N<SUB>amine</SUB> atom and the Zn(II) center, resulting in the formation of an eight membered chelate ring. [<B>L<SUB>A</SUB>CoCl<SUB>2</SUB> </B>] exhibited the highest catalytic activity (7.67×10<SUP>4</SUP> gPMMA/molCoh) for the polymerization of MMA in the presence of MMAO at 60°C and yielded PMMA with a high molecular weight (<I>M</I> <SUB>w</SUB>) (11.2×10<SUP>5</SUP> g/mol) and narrower polydispersity index (PDI) 1.01 compared to its Cu(II) and Zn(II) analogs. Syndiotactic enriched PMMA was obtained with <I>T</I> <SUB>g</SUB> in the range 120–132°C. The introduction of bulky methyl substituents played an influential role on controlling the catalytic activities while the syndiotacticities remained unaffected.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>Novel Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes ligated to <I>N</I>′-cyclopentyl substituted <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bispyrazolylmethylamine have been synthesized and characterized. These complexes polymerize methyl methacrylate in the presence of MMAO to yield syndiotactic poly(methylmethacrylate) at 60°C. The Co(II) complexes exhibited higher catalytic activity compared to the Cu(II) and Zn(II) analogs.         Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the sleep quality of nurses in the comprehensive nursing care units of small-medium sized hospitals, and general and work-related characteristics associated with sleep quality of nurses. Methods: Participants were 312 nurses in comprehensive nursing care units of eight small and medium hospitals. The data were collected between June and August, 2018. A survey questionnaire including, sleep quality, general, and work-related characteristics of nurses was used. The data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and x² test. Logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors associated with sleep quality. Results: The average score for sleep quality was 8.58±3.18 (0~21). Using a cut-off point of 8.5, 51.9% were poor sleepers. Sleep quality was associated with age (Odds Ratio [OR]=0.93, 95% Confidence Interval [CI]=0.88~0.99). Conclusion: Age was identified as a factor associated with sleep quality among nurses in the comprehensive nursing care units at small and medium sized hospitals. Researchers and nurse administrators need to develop and provide strategies to improve young nurses’ sleep quality.

        장기요양 방문간호사의 비판적 사고성향, 직무수행능력 인식수준 및 직무 관련 교육요구도

        Purpose: This study aimed to examine the critical-thinking disposition, job competency, and educational needs of home-visiting nurses in long-term-care insurance and to provide evidence to further develop educational programs to strengthen home-visiting nurses’ competencies. Methods: This study adopted a correlational research design. Data accrued from 180 home visiting nurses in long-term-care insurance using a convenience-and snowball- sampling method. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 software package and Excel. Priorities of educational needs were determined based on the Borich s Needs Assessment Model. Results: A positive correlation exists between critical-thinking disposition and perceived job competency of long-term-care home-visiting nurses (r=.59, p<.001). Experience as a home visiting nurse was a major factor related to critical-thinking disposition and perceived job competency. Home-visiting nurses were found to have higher educational needs in developing services and educational materials, as well as utilizing community resources by applying the Borich s Needs Assessment Model. Conclusion: These results highlight the need to provide career development programs for home-visiting nurses with less experience in the field to enforce competencies and compose good working environments so the experienced nurses with high job competencies can remain in the field and improve the quality of visiting nursing care.
