<P>SiN and SiCN film production using plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD) is investigated in this study. A developed high-power and high-density multiple inductively coupled plasma (multi-ICP) source is used for a low temperature PE-ALD process. High plasma density and good uniformity are obtained by high power N-2 plasma discharge. Silicon nitride films are deposited on a 300-mm wafer using the PE-ALD method at low temperature. To analyze the quality of the SiN and SiCN films, the wet etch rate, refractive index, and growth rate of the thin films are measured. Experiments are performed by changing the applied power and the process temperature (300-500 degrees C).</P>

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>This study aims to analyze and record orally transmitted knowledge of medicinal plants from the indigenous people living in Hallasan National Park of Korea.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Data was collected through the participatory rural appraisal method involving interviews, informal meetings, open and group discussions, and overt observations with semi-structured questionnaires.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>In this study, a total of 68 families, 141 genera, and 171 species of plants that showed 777 ways of usage were recorded. Looking into the distribution of the families, 14 species of Asteraceae occupied 11.1% of the total followed by 13 species of Rosaceae, 10 species of Rutaceae, and nine species of Apiaceae which occupied 5.0%, 7.1% and 3.0% of the whole, respectively. 32 kinds of plant-parts were used for 47 various medicinal purposes. Values for the informant consensus factor regarding the ailment categories were for birth related disorders (0.92), followed by respiratory system disorders (0.90), skin disease and disorders (0.89), genitourinary system disorders (0.87), physical pain (0.87), and other conditions. According to fidelity levels, 36 plant species resulted in fidelity levels of 100%.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Consequently, results of this study will legally utilize to provide preparatory measures against the Nagoya Protocol (2010) about benefit-sharing for traditional knowledge of genetic resources.</P>

<P><B>Summary</B></P> <P><B>Objectives</B></P> <P>Self-administered foot reflexology is unrestricted by time and space, economical, and practical because it is easy to learn and apply. This study estimated the effectiveness of self-foot reflexology for symptom management in healthy persons through a systematic review and meta-analysis.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>The participants were healthy persons not diagnosed with a specific disease. The intervention was foot reflexology administered by participants, not by practitioners or healthcare providers. The comparative studies either between groups or within group comparison were included. Our search utilized core databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, and CINAHL). We also searched Chinese (CNKI), Japanese (J-STAGE), and Korean databases (KoreaMed, KMbase, KISS, NDSL, KISTI, and OASIS). The search was used MeSH terminology and key words (foot reflexology, foot massage, and self).</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Analysis of three non-randomized trials and three before-and-after studies showed that self-administered foot reflexology resulted in significant improvement in subjective outcomes such as perceived stress, fatigue, and depression. However, there was no significant improvement in objective outcomes such as cortisol levels, blood pressure, and pulse rate. We did not find any randomized controlled trial.</P> <P><B>Conclusions</B></P> <P>This study presents the effectiveness of self-administered foot reflexology for healthy persons’ psychological and physiological symptoms. While objective outcomes showed limited results, significant improvements were found in subjective outcomes. However, owing to the small number of studies and methodological flaws, there was insufficient evidence supporting the use of self-performed foot reflexology. Well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to assess the effect of self-administered foot reflexology in healthy people.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This systematic review assessed the effectiveness of self-foot reflexology for symptom management in healthy persons. </LI> <LI> Three non-randomized trials and three before-and-after studies without comparison showed that self-administered foot reflexology appeared to improve subjective outcomes rather than objective health outcomes. </LI> <LI> Owing to the small number of studies and methodological flaws, there was insufficient evidence supporting the use of self-performed foot reflexology to alleviate symptoms in healthy people. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P> Fibrous Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ-Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 (BSCF-GDC) composite cathodes are fabricated by a facile electrospinning method. However, the electropun BSCF-GDC cathode shows poor adhesion to a GDC electrolyte because of the high shrinkage rate of the electrospun BSCF-GDC cathode during sintering. To solve this adhesion issue, mixed BSCF fiber-GDC powder cathode is investigated. As a result, mixed BSCF fiber-GDC powder cathode with an enhanced adhesion is successfully fabricated. This improvement can be attributed to the modified microstructure with the GDC powder that joins the BSCF fibers to the GDC electrolyte at the cathode and electrolyte interface. The polarization resistance of the mixed BSCF fiber-GDC powder cathode is 0.10 Ω cm2, which is lower than 0.13 Ω cm2 of conventional BSCF-GDC powder cathode at 700 °C. It is attributable to the improved oxygen gas and lattice oxygen diffusion, and the surface exchange of the mixed BSCF fiber-GDC powder cathode. The single cell with a mixed BSCF fiber-GDC powder cathode show 500 mW cm-2 at 700 °C, which is 25% higher than conventional BSCF-GDC powder cathode. </P>
Oxygen plasma effects on the electrical conductance of single-walled carbon nanotube bundles
Kim, Sanghun,Kim, Ho-Jong,Lee, Hyeong Rag,Song, Jung-Hoon,Yi, Sam Nyung,Ha, Dong Han Institute of Physics [etc.] 2010 Journal of Physics. D, Applied Physics Vol.43 No.30
<P>We report the electrical properties of single-walled carbon nanotube bundles aligned between two electrodes with a gap of 8 µm by the alternating current dielectrophoresis method. The resistance increased exponentially as the number of structural defects increased from the oxygen plasma treatment. However, no noticeable change was observed in the carrier concentration and tube–tube interaction. The resistance dependence on the plasma treatment time was explained on the basis of the localization of electron states at defect sites. The aspects of the defects were examined by measuring the effects of ammonia adsorption on the conductance of the device.</P>
