Fungal secondary metabolites constitute a wide variety of compounds which either playa vital role in agricultural, pharmaceutical and industrial contexts, or have devastating effects on agriculture, animal and human affairs by virtue of their toxigenicity. Owing to their beneficial and deleterious characteristics, these complex compounds and the genes responsible for their synthesis have been the subjects of extensive investigation by microbiologists and pharmacologists. A majority of the fungal secondary metabolic genes are classified as type I polyketide synthases (PKS) which are often clustered with other secondary metabolism related genes. In this review we discuss on the significance of our recent discovery of chalcone synthase (CHS) genes belonging to the type III PKS superfamily in an industrially important fungus, Aspergillus oryzae. CHS genes are known to playa vital role in the biosynthesis of flavonoids in plants. A comparative genome analyses revealed the unique character of A. oryzae with four CHS-like genes (csyA, csyB, csyC and csyD) amongst other Aspergilli (Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus fumigatus) which contained none of the CHS-like genes. Some other fungi such as Neurospora crassa, Fusarium graminearum, Magnaporthe grisea, Podospora anserina and Phanerochaete chrysosporium also contained putative type III PKSs, with a phylogenic distinction from bacteria and plants. The enzymatically active nature of these newly discovered homologues is expected owing to the conservation in the catalytic residues across the different species of plants and fungi, and also by the fact that a majority of these genes (csyA, csyB and csyD) were expressed in A. oryzae. While this finding brings filamentous fungi closer to plants and bacteria which until recently were the only ones considered to possess the type III PKSs, the presence of putative genes encoding other principal enzymes involved in the phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis (viz., phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, cinnamic acid hydroxylase and p-coumarate CoA ligase) in the A. oryzae genome undoubtedly prove the extent of its metabolic diversity. Since many of these genes have not been identified earlier, knowledge on their corresponding products or activities remain undeciphered. In future, it is anticipated that these enzymes may be reasonable targets for metabolic engineering in fungi to produce agriculturally and nutritionally important metabolites.

The chloroform fraction of the aqueous extract of the fresh leaves of Vitex negundo by bioactivity guided isolation yielded a pure compound, rotundial (1) which has shown potent mosquito repellent activity. Using spectral data (LN, IR, ¹H & 13C NMR and MS) its structure has been elucidated.

<P>The inverse gas chromatography study on the fluconazole drug surface was performed, and the net retention volumes, polar probes, and VN of n-alkanes are determined at four temperatures over the range 318.15-333.15 K. The net retention values of n-alkanes were used to evaluate the London dispersive surface free energy gamma(L)(S) by three different methods, namely, the Donnet Park, Dorris Gray, and Schultz methods. The gamma(L)(S) values were found to increase from 318.15 to 323.15 K for all three methods and then decrease from 323.15 to 333.15 K. The gamma(L)(S) values were found to be slightly higher in the Schultz method when compared to the results of the Donnet-Park and Dorris-Gray methods. The specific free energy values Delta G(a)(s) and the specific enthalpy Delta H-a(s) values have been calculated using the V-N data of polar probes. The Guttmann Lewis acid base parameters, K-a and K-b, were obtained using Delta H-a(s) values and were found to be 0.217 and 1.518, respectively. The surface character (K-b/K-a) was found to be 7.0. The results revealed that the fluconazole powder surface contains relatively more basic sites than acidic sites and can combine strongly with acidic substrates. The surface energy and acid base data of fluconazole can be used during formulation of the drug and to understand the drug release process.</P>
A Comprehensive Literature Study on Precision Agriculture: Tools and Techniques
Bh., Prashanthi,A.V. Praveen, Krishna,Ch. Mallikarjuna, Rao International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.12
Due to digitization, data has become a tsunami in almost every data-driven business sector. The information wave has been greatly boosted by man-to-machine (M2M) digital data management. An explosion in the use of ICT for farm management has pushed technical solutions into rural areas and benefited farmers and customers alike. This study discusses the benefits and possible pitfalls of using information and communication technology (ICT) in conventional farming. Information technology (IT), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics are discussed, along with the roles of Machine learning (ML), Artificial intelligence (AI), and sensors in farming. Drones are also being studied for crop surveillance and yield optimization management. Global and state-of-the-art Internet of Things (IoT) agricultural platforms are emphasized when relevant. This article analyse the most current publications pertaining to precision agriculture using ML and AI techniques. This study further details about current and future developments in AI and identify existing and prospective research concerns in AI for agriculture based on this thorough extensive literature evaluation.

Combined biliary and duodenal stent placement has been reported previously in multiple series. Rarely, colonic obstruction may present simultaneously with duodenal and biliary obstruction in advanced pancreaticobiliary cancers. Biliary, duodenal and colonic obstruction managed simultaneously using endoscopic modalities have been reported in only one case report previously. Here we report outcomes of a case of carcinoma of the gall bladder with biliary, gastric outlet and colonic obstruction managed by endoscopic placement of biliary, gastroduodenal and colonic self-expanding metal stents.

In recent years, publish-subscribe (pub-sub) systems based on XML document filtering have received much attention. In a typical pub-sub system, subscribed users specify their interest in profiles expressed in the XPath language, and each new content is matched against the user profiles so that the content is delivered to only the interested subscribers. As the number of subscribed users and their profiles can grow very large, the scalability of the system is critical to the success of pub-sub services. In this paper, we propose a fast and scalable XML filtering system called SFiST which is an extension of the FiST system. Sharable segments are extracted from twig patterns and stored into the hash-based Segment Table in SFiST system. Segments are used to represent user profiles as Terse Sequences and stored in the Compact Segment Index during filtering. Our experimental study shows that SFiST system has better performance than FiST system in terms of filtering time and memory usage.
