The Impact of Leadership Capability, Job Stress and Work-Life Balance on Job Satisfaction in Vietnamese Logistics Industry: An Analysis Based on the Second-Order Constructs

Ngoc Thi Kim PHAM(Ngoc Thi Kim PHAM ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.1

Logistics industry is being an important industry in Vietnam with the contribution from 8-10% of GDP recently. This industry employs about 15 millions people. Increasing the employees’ job satisfaction is become one of the most concerns of managers in logistics companies to strengthen the employee engagement and improve their business performance. The aim of this study is to investigate how employees’ perceptions of job satisfaction are influenced by factors such as job stress, leadership capability, work-life balance, and demographics. 426 workers in the logistics sector in Vietnam were surveyed online. The acquired data was analyzed using a structural equation model. In total 16 hypotheses were established, 13 of which were deemed to be significant. The results demonstrate how the literature-informed second-order constructs can potentially explain the overall job stress, leadership capability, and work-life balance of employees in the Vietnamese logistics industry. These variables account for 54.8% of job satisfaction. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the extant literature by showing how researching second-order constructs can improve the theory’s capacity to predict employees’ job satisfaction. The paper concludes with a set of recommendations for the management of logistics firms in Vietnam.

Effect of adding non-ferromagnetic nanoparticles to grain boundary on coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnet

        Pham Thi Thanh,Nguyen Van Duong,Nguyen Hai Yen,Nguyen Huy Ngoc,Nguyen Mau Lam,Kieu Xuan Hau,유성조,Nguyen Huy Dan 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.3

In this work, we investigated the influence of additional compounds of Nd-Cu-Al, Dy-Nb-Al, Dy-Zr-Al and Nb-Cu-Al on coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets. The additional nanoparticles with size in the range of 40e80 nmwas mixed with the micrometer Nd-Fe-B powder before sintering process. The results show that the coercivity of the sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets can be improved by introducing additional nanoparticles to their grain boundaries. The improvement of the coercivity of the magnets is clearly dependent on composition and fraction of the additional compounds. While the Dy-Nb-Al, Dy-Zr-Al and Nb-Cu-Al compounds degrade the coercivity of the sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets, the Nd-Cu-Al nanoparticles considerably improve this quantity. The coercivity the sintered Nd16.5Fe77B6.5 magnets has been enhanced about 40% by adding 3 wt% of the Dy-free compound of Nd40Cu30Al30.

Anti-inflammatory Effects of Scrophularia buergeriana Extract Mixture Fermented with Lactic Acid Bacteria

Thi Ngoc Anh Pham,Hae Lim Kim,이동령,최봉근,양승환 한국생물공학회 2022 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.27 No.3

Scrophularia buergeriana (SB) was once thought to be an herbal remedy with a wide range of uses. Lactobacillus transformation improves the medicinal benefits of biological substances. However, the effect of fermented SBE in macrophages on inflammatory expression is unknown. Furthermore, the synergistic effects of SBE and lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have not been previously investigated. Therefore, in the present study, we investigated the mixture of SB fermented with different lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains, and analyzed their characteristics before and after fermentation. The results showed that LAB activities increased the levels of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and iridoids, and SB extract (SBE) stimulated the growth of Lactobacillus strains. Moreover, we also determined the anti-inflammatory effects of the SBE fermented sample in lipopolysaccharide-treated RAW264.7 cells. It was observed that the treatment of SBE fermented sample inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production than SBE and also decreased the RNA expression of iNOS, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and COX-2. The results of this study indicate the potential anti-inflammation activity of lactic acid bacteria-fermented SBE as nutraceutical ingredients.

The advancement of bis(2-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate recovered from post-consumer poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles compared to commercial polyol for preparation of high performance polyurethane

Chi Thi Pham,Binh Tan Nguyen,Minh Tuyet Nguyen,ThuHien Nguyen,Cuong Ngoc Hoang,Nguyen Ngan Nguyen,이평찬,김진환,DongQuy Hoang 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.93 No.-

The behavior of rPUf (polyurethane foam derived from bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET)recovered from post-consumer poly(ethylene terephthalate)-PET bottles) and cPUf (polyurethane foambased on a commercial polyol) were evaluated by comprehensive characterizations, and their thermalstabilities, flammabilities, and physical properties were compared. Without using aflame retardant, rPUfpassed the UL-94HB standard, whereas cPUf burned rapidly to the holding clamp. Various formulationsof rPUf and cPUf with established eco-friendlyfire retardants (FRs), including triphenyl phosphate, aluminum diethylphosphinate, and aluminum trihydroxide, exhibited notably higherfire resistance. Thedifferences between the experimental and calculated densities showed the effectiveness of the foamingprocess. A larger difference indicated that the FR improved the foaming process more. The BHET structurecontains an aromatic moiety that strongly enhanced the compressive strength and protected the rPUf/FRsfrom biodegradation, as evidenced by sorption isotherm experiments. For that reason, the rPUf/FRs couldbe used as building materials, especially under high humidity conditions. These are the advantages ofBHET over the commercial polyol for PUf preparation. Chemical recycle of post-consumer PET bottles toproduce high performance PUf could be applied on an industrial scale and then it creates the sustainablerecycling industry.

Factors Influencing Startup Intention of Young People in Vietnam

Thi Thuy Trang PHAM(Thi Thuy Trang PHAM ),Thi Bich Ngoc TRAN(Thi Bich Ngoc TRAN ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.2

Entrepreneurship brings countless values to each individual and practical benefits to society and the economy. Recently, the call for a better understanding of entrepreneurship from corporations and governments is regularly voiced the day, both in the academic literature and in public discussions. This study examines factors influencing the startup decision of young people in Vietnam. Primary data was collected from an online survey and then imported into an Excel file before being analyzed by SPSS 22. The total number of relevant observations for the study is 656, using numerous statistical approaches such as EFA and multiple regression analyses. This study contributes to the existing literature and current practice by suggesting six major determinants of startup intention: self-expectation, personal attitudes, self-competency, perceived feasibility, entrepreneurial orientation, and financial wealth. Among these factors, self-competency and entrepreneurial orientation are statistically significant, indicating that the capability of young people is the most important determinant of their startup intention. Additionally, the results indicate that self-expectation, attitude, perceived feasibility, and finance do not impact students’ intention to pursue entrepreneurship. We suggest that by enhancing the training quality of universities, young people will be provided with much essential knowledge and technical skills for running a business.

Effects of Corporate Governance and Earning Quality on Listed Vietnamese Firm Value

DANG, Hung Ngoc,PHAM, Cuong Duc,NGUYEN, Thang Xuan,NGUYEN, Hoa Thi Thanh Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.4

The paper examines the influence of corporate governance (CG) and earning quality (EQ) on corporate value (FV) of Vietnamese enterprises. The study uses GLS regression and linear structure model using data collected from companies listing on the stock market in Vietnam during 2008-2018, with a total of 2,937 observations. The research results indicate that EQ and CG represented by the Integrated Board of Directors and the Integrated Supervisory Board have a positive effect on FV directly and indirectly. The results show that the Integrated Board of Directors has a positive effect on EQ, whereas the Integrated Supervisory Board has a negative effect on EQ. Based on the research results, we suggest that companies need to strictly comply and implement GC, so to bring down the agency cost and consequently to increase performance. The companies also should establish the Board of Director of a proper size, with financial and accounting specialty, and including women board members. The government also needs to improve the management mechanism asking for firms to prepare and publish financial statements with reliable company information, which could be provided to users. These recommendations are a useful basis to help businesses improve FV via changes in the corporate governance factors in each enterprise.

Nguyen Ngoc Nha Thao,Pham Duy Toan,Nguyen Duc Tuan,Trinh Thi Thu Loan 한국약제학회 2021 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.51 No.5

Purpose Diabetes mellitus, especially type II, is one of the most common chronic diseases. Its first-line oral treatment is metformin, commonly in combination with another agent such as sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor. The commercial combination is Janumet XR 50/500 mg, in which the extended-release metformin core tablet is coated with an immediaterelease layer of sitagliptin. However, the coating process with solvents and a high temperature might affect the sitagliptin properties and product quality. Hence, the present study aimed to develop bilayer matrix tablets incorporating both drugs into two separate layers, a sustained-release metformin layer, and an immediate-release sitagliptin layer. Methods Wet granulation and direct compression methods were used for the metformin and sitagliptin layer, respectively. The optimal formulation was selected and characterized based on the design of experiments method. In vitro release and in vivo bioequivalence studies were also conducted to compare with the reference Janumet XR 50/500 mg. Results The optimized formulation immediately released sitagliptin (> 95%) within 30 min at pH 1.2 and sustained the release metformin for 10 h at pH 6.8. The in vivo behaviors of the bilayer tablets were bioequivalent to the commercial product, Janumet XR 50/500 mg. Conclusion The bilayer tablets could provide an alternative approach for combination therapy of type II diabetes.

      • Controllable synthesis of MoS2/graphene low-dimensional nanocomposites and their electrical properties

        Long, Le Ngoc,Thi, Pham Tan,Trung Kien, Pham,Trung, Pham Thanh,Ohtani, Masataka,Kumabe, Yoshitaka,Tanaka, Hirofumi,Ueda, Shigenori,Lee, Hyoyoung,Thang, Phan Bach,Khai, Tran Van Elsevier 2020 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.504 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, a novel hydrothermal route has been developed for the synthesis of MoS2/graphene composite with controllable structures, in which ammonium molybdatetetrahydrate, as-prepared graphene oxide (GO), and thioacetamide were used as staring materials. Effects of Mo4+-to-C precursor ratios and crystalline time on the structures, components and morphologies of MoS2/graphene were investigated. MoS2/graphene samples were characterized using XRD, FESEM, HRTEM, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, HAADF-STEM/EDS, HXPES and electrical measurements. The results show that petal-like MoS2 nanostructures with ultrathin petals (~1–10 layers) and coexistence of 1T- and 2H-MoS2 phases can be synthesized on graphene surface in a short time (~2 h). Comparison of crystallization conditions, we found that the crystallization time had a significant effect on the size of the MoS2 nanopetals. The shorter the reaction time is, the thinner the petal-like MoS2 nanoscale is. On the other hand, by adjusting the ratios of Mo4+to C (denoted as: MoS2/C (1:2), MoS2/C (3:2), MoS2/C (2.5:1) and MoS2/C (3:1)), different MoS2/graphene architectures including “sandwich-liked”, “layer–by–layer” and “anchored” can be obtained. On the basis of these results, a possible growth mechanism of MoS2nanopetals on GO was proposed. Interestingly, the as-synthesized material depicts its memristive behavior through the Volt-Ampere characteristics, suggesting a potential application in logic memory devices.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A novel hydrothermal route has been developed for the synthesis of MoS2/graphene composite with controllable structures. </LI> <LI> The effects of Mo4+-to-C precursor ratios and crystalline time on properties of MoS2/graphene were investigated by FESEM, HRTEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, HAADF-STEM/EDS and HXPES. </LI> <LI> The memristive properties of the MoS2/graphenenanocomposite were presented. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Asbestos and Asbestos-related Diseases in Vietnam: In reference to the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile

2013 Safety and health at work Vol.4 No.2

This paper describes progress on formulating a national asbestos profile for the country of Vietnam. The Center of Asbestos Resource, Vietnam, formulated a National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health, with due reference to the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile. The Center of Asbestos Resource was established by the Vietnamese Health Environment Management Agency and the National Institute of Labor Protection, with the support of the Australian Agency for International Development, as a coordinating point for asbestos-related issues in Vietnam. Under the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health framework, the Center of Asbestos Resource succeeded in compiling relevant information for 15 of the 18 designated items outlined in the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile, some overlaps of the information items notwithstanding. Today, Vietnam continues to import and use an average of more than 60,000 metric tons of raw asbestos per year. Information on asbestos-related diseases is limited, but the country has begun to diagnose mesothelioma cases, with the technical cooperation of Japan. As it stands, the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health needs further work and updating. However, we envisage that the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health will ultimately facilitate the smooth transition to an asbestos-free Vietnam.
