<P>The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an outpatient-basis chemotherapy of oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and leucovorin as the first-line treatment for patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Forty-three histologically confirmed patients with metastatic or recurrent colorectal cancer were enrolled. The chemotherapy consisted of oxaliplatin 85 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP> as a 2-hr infusion on day 1, plus leucovorin 30 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP> over 10 min, followed by bolus 5-fluorouracil 400 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP> and an 8-hr infusion of 5-fluorouracil 600 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP> on days 1 and 2 (modified FOLFOX4), all of which were administered on an outpatient basis every 2 weeks. The median age was 58 yr (range 33-72 yr), and 25 (58.1%) patients had metastatic diseases. Eventually, 39 patients were assessable for efficacy and all assessable for toxicity. Four (9.3%) complete responses and 11 (25.6%) partial responses were confirmed, giving an overall response rate of 34.9% (95% CI; 20.0-49.7%). The median time to progression and median overall survival for all patients was 6.1 months and 17.4 months, respectively. Grade 3/4 neutropenia occurred in 2 patients (4.7%) and febrile neutropenia was observed in 1 patient (2.3%). Modified FOLFOX4, an outpatient-basis regimen, was found to be well-tolerated and effective as the first-line chemotherapy in patients with advanced colorectal cancer.</P>
Hiding Digital Watermark for Increasing Trust in E-Commerce

Several studies have shown that the trust is a significant barrier for realizing the potential of e-commerce. Trust is not only a short-term issue but also the most significant long-term barrier for realizing the potentials of e-commerce. Because digital contents which have been used in e-commerce are easy to be duplicated, the enforcement of digital copyright protection is an important issue. Watermarking is a technique for labeling digital pictures by hiding secret information in the image. In this paper, a discrete wavelet transform(DWT) based technique for embedding digital watermark into image is proposed. The performance of the proposed watermarking is robust to a variety of signal distortions, such as JPEG and image processing operations.
장면전환 발생시 예상 비트 조정을 통한 MPEG - 2 비디오 부호화 비트율 제어 알고리즘

장면전환에 따른 화질열화는 예상 비트량과 실제 부호화량의 차이가 많을 때 발생한다. 특히 장면전환이 P화면에서 발생된 경우에는 장면전환이 발생된 P화면 뿐만 아니라, P화면을 참조하는 화면들의 화질에 심각한 열화가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 장면전환이 발생했을 때 부적절한 비트율 제어의 원인을 토대로 장면전환 화면과 이후 화면들의 화질을 개선하는 방법을 제시하였다. 장면전환 화면에는 추가비트를 할당하는 기존 방법과 예상 비트를 인트라 화면의 부호화 수준으로 할당하는 새로운 방법을 적용하였다. 그리고 장면전환 이후 화면들에는 예상 비트 할당을 장면전환 발생이전 화면의 부호화 수준으로 할당하는 방법을 제안하여 화질을 개선시켰다. 실험 결과 제안하는 알고리즘이 기존 알고리즘보다 화질향상이 있었고, TM5와 비교해서는 0.5∼1.2dB의 PSNR 향상을 보였다. The decrease of visual quality at scene change occurs when the difference between the amount of target bits and actual coding is high. Especially, scene change at the P-picture can lead to severely degrade visual qualities at itself and the pictures referencing it. In this paper, under the occurrence of scene change, we propose a new method, based on the analysis of existing inaccurate bits allocation, to improve the visual qualities of scene-changed and following pictures. The method allocates extra bits to scene-changed picture and changes them upto the level of the complexity of intra picture. Also, the method changes target bits of following pictures upto the complexity of picture prior to the scene change. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method has improved 0.5-1.2 dB higher than TM5 method in terms of PSNR.

We propose expert system for restoration the original character form of ancient relics based on image processing and computer graphics. Letters engraved in relief like relics and intaglio like curved tombstones and letters engraved in plane or curved part of cultural asset may have been broken by a lot of rubbed copy, a long time and tide. In this paper, we suggest a new method for extracting and recovering the broken letters of cultural asset into an original form by using Z-map, morphological filter, and high frequency filter. Based on the suggested method, we develop the character recovering system.
