      • A Light Palette: Color Exploration on Equal Luminance

        In this study we propose a Light Palette, an interface that provides an intuitive and practical light selection, especially well considering the luminance difference among the red, green, and blue light sources. The Light Palette is a color wheel, which consists of a spectrum of hue variation generated by the three primary lights, such as red, green, and blue. In addition, the Light Palette enable users to maintain the luminance wherever user points on the wheel. By zooming in or out the spot, user can decrease or increase the luminance, and the luminance is explicitly visualized through the size of the spot circles. The Light Palette supports a search for desired color of light in an easy and efficient manner.

      • A new mid-late maturing japonica rice variety Hyeonpum with a good grain quality and eating quality

        ‘Hyeonpum’ is a new japonica rice variety developed by a cross breeding between Iksan469 having a good canopy architecture and Sindongjin and Musashino 7 having a good eating-quality with a view to develop a new variety having high quality of grain and palatability by the rice breeding team of Rice Breeding and Cultivation Research Division, Department of Rice and Winter Cereal Crop, NICS, RDA in 2012. The heading date of this variety is August 18 and later than that of check variety, Nampyeongbyeo, by four days. ‘Hyeonpum’ has 74cm of culm length and 101 spikelets per panicle. This variety showed resistance to bacterial leaf blight and rice stripe virus, but susceptible to leaf blast and planthoppers. The milled rice of this variety exhibits translucent and very clear non-glutinous endosperm. ‘Hyeonpum’ has much better palatability of cooked rice than that of Nampyeongbyeo. The whole grain rate of milled rice and milled rice recovery of ‘Hyeonpum’ are slightly higher than those of Nampyeongbyeo as 91.8% and 75.2% respectively. The yield of ‘Hyeonpum’ is 5.6 MT/ha in milled rice. ‘Hyeonpum’ could be adaptable to the southern part plain area of Pyeongtaek and southwestern costal areas in Korea.

        Obstetrics & Gynecology Science : Case Reports ; Temporary homonymous hemianopsia after epidural blood patch

        We describe a case in which homonymous hemianopsia developed abruptly following an epidural blood patch procedure. The procedure was performed in a patient complaining of post-dural puncture headache after an emergency Cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated that air bubbles had moved from the prepontine and premedullar cisterns toward the left retrochiasmal region. The homonymous hemianopsia resolved rapidly with conservative management including oxygen, intravenous fluid, and antibiotics. We report on this case with a brief review of the related literature.

        제품 조명에 기대하는 소구 감성 탐색: 냉장고 사례를 중심으로

        빛이 제품의 디자인 조형 요소로 적극적으로 사용되고 있는 추세에 반해, 제품 구매의 주체인 고객이 소구하는 제품의 빛 디자인에 대한 체계적인 연구가 요구되고 있다. 제품의 빛과 관련 연구는 특정 소구 감성을 달성하기 위한 최적 조명 조건을 도출하는 제한되어 새로운 디자인 요소로써 빛에 소구되는 감성적 효과에 대해 우선 분석이 진행 될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 제품의 빛에 대해 고객이 소구하는 감성의 종류가 무엇인지 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였는데, 특히 제품의 주요 디자인 요소로써 빛을 활용하고 있는 냉장고 제품을 대상으로 하였다. 소구 감성을 도출하기 위해 다지선다형 선택지와 단답형 주관식 문항을 혼합한 통합연구법을 적용하였다. 실험에서는 조명의 색과 배치가 다른 비슷한 형태의 냉장고 이미지 서너 개씩 그룹화하여 총 12종의 자극물 그룹을 구성하였다. 그리고 참여자(N = 50)로 하여금 각 그룹 별로 선호하는 냉장고 이미지를 선택하도록 하고 그 이유에 대해 단답형 주관식 설문을 작성하게 하였다. 그 결과 총 1,035개의 어휘가 수집되었으며, 위 어휘들은 유의어 관계에 의해 총 29종의 어휘그룹으로 정리되었다. 어휘 그룹은 다시 네 가지의 감성 카테고리 - 추상적 인상, 조명의 객관적 특성, 공간과 내용물의 인지, 시각적 편안함 - 으로 최종 분류된 후 네 가지 카테고리 간의 연관성을 기반으로 냉장고 조명에 소구하는 감성과 조명의 객관적 특성 간의 관계 모델을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 탐색적 방법을 이용해서 새로운 디자인 요소가 가져다줄 수 있는 감성적 가치를 발굴하고 이를 평가 척도로 활용하는 과정을 제시하였다는 데에 의의가 있다. Despite the substantial changes made in the product design field to adopt light as an essential design element, there has been little effort to define how customers respond emotionally to the light design of products. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the emotional effect of light as a new design element. However, previous research focuses solely on deriving optimal lighting conditions to achieve particular emotional effects. Therefore, this paper investigates the customers' desired emotional effects of product's light design. We studied refrigerators that utilize light as the main design element of the product. We applied mixed methods by combining close-ended questions and open-ended question to efficiently derive the desired emotion. Participants were asked to choose the most favorable refrigerator image in each of the twelve image groups and indicate why they choose that image with the short-answer survey form. Approximately one thousand terms were collected, and those terms were classified into 29 groups using thesaurus relationships. The term groups were again classified into the four big emotion categories and labelled as “abstract quality,” “light property,” “space perception,” and “visual comfort.” Also, a model of the relationship between desired light style and light properties was proposed, since we observed the light properties related to three other categories. This study used mixed methods to identify the emotional value of a new design element. We suggest that the emotional categories derived and the proposed relationship model could be used to evaluate the product's light design.

        젊은 성인 남성 우울증 환자에서 성인 ADHD 경향성이 심리학적 특징에 미치는 영향

        Objectives:This study investigated psychological factors in patients with adult ADHD tendency and the relationship of adult ADHD tendency with depression and anxiety Methods:Ninety patients with depression(38 with adult ADHD and 52 with non-adult ADHD) were recruited in this study. All patients were subjected to the following tests : Korean Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-IV(K-WAIS-IV), Adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale(ASRS-v1.1), Lee Ji-Yeon’s adult ADHD scale, Beck’s Depression Inventory II(BDI-II), Beck’s Anxiety Inventory(BAI), and Temperament Character Inventory-Revised Short version(TCI-RS). Results:The adult ADHD group had higher scores for BDI-II and BAI, novelty-seeking, harm-avoidance, and selftranscendence than the non-adult ADHD group. Conversely, the adult ADHD group showed lower scores for self-directedness and cooperativeness than the non-adult ADHD group. Depression scores were positively correlated with ASRS(r=0.524, p=0.000), Lee Ji-Yeon’s adult ADHD scale(r=0.598, p=0.000), anxiety scores(r=0.650, p=0.000), novelty-seeking(r=0.411, p=0.000), harm-avoidance(r=0.517, p=0.000), and self-transcendence(r=0.234, p=0.026). However, they were negatively correlated with persistence(r=-0.231, p=0.029), and self-directedness(r=-0.594, p=0.000). Higher Lee Ji-Yeon’s adult ADHD scale scores and lower self-directedness scores among TCI, resulted in higher depression scores. In addition, anxiety scores increased in parallel with the the Lee Ji-Yeon’s adult ADHD scale and harmavoidance TCI scores. Conclusion:In this study, we found a difference in the severity of depression and anxiety between the adult and non-adult ADHD groups. In addition, it was confirmed that the difference in temperament and character between the two groups was related to adult ADHD tendency and severity of depression and anxiety.

      • 영상의 배속과 색채 요소의 조합에 따른 감성적 효과

        본 연구는 영상의 배속과 색채 요소의 조합으로 강조될 수 있는 감성적 표현에 대해 탐색하고자 하였다. 일반인이 자가 촬영한 영상 53점을 대상으로 배속, 색상, 채도, 밝기, 대비의 속성을 제어하여 원본 대비 어떠한 감성이 다르게 표현될 수 있는가에 대하여 실험연구를 진행하였다. 대학생 30명을 대상으로 응답을 얻은 결과, 대비와 배속이 다른 속성에 비해 상대적으로 중요한 속성임을 밝혀내었다. 본 연구에서는 실험 연구에서 도출된 결과를 토대로 특정 감성을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 조합을 제안하고자 한다.

        고내열 페라이트계 스테인레스 주강의 고온인장특성 평가

        Exhaust manifold is a very important component that is directly connected to air environment pollution and that requires strict mechanical properties such as high temperature fatigue and oxidation. Among stainless steels, the ferritic stainless steel with body-centered cubic structure shows excellent resistance of stress-corrosion cracking, ferromagnetic at room temperature, very excellent cold workability and may not be enhanced by heat treatment. The microstructural characteristics of four cast ferritic stainless steels which are high heat-resistant materials, were analyzed. By comparing and evaluating the mechanical properties at room temperature and high temperature in a range of 400℃~800℃, a database was established to control and predict the required properties and the mechanical properties of the final product. The precipitates of cast ferritic stainless steels were analyzed and the high-temperature deformation characteristics were evaluated by comparative analysis of hardness and tensile characteristics of four steels at room temperature and from 400℃ to 800℃.       • The Role of Genistein in Mammary Gland Carcinogenesis: A New Approach Using Stable Isotope(²H₂O)-Mass Spectrometry Technique

        We investigated the effects of genistein in mammary gland carcinogenesis by incoporation of 2H from ²H₂O into the deoxyribose (dR) moiety of purine deoxyribonucleotides in dividing cells. Female Sprague?Dawley rats were fed estrogen free AIN-93G diet starting on 1 week before breeding and continuing through pregnancy and lactation. Female pups were assigned to the following groups on postnatal day 16 and fed AIN-93G diet: vehicle (dimethylsulfoxide) (DMSO); genistein; estradiol benzoate(EB). On postnatal days 16, 18 and 20, female pups were injected subcutaneously with 250 μg genistein/g body wt, 500 ng EB/g body wt or an equivalent volume of the vehicle. At day 50 postpartum, half of each group were gavaged with 60mg dimethylbenz[a]anthracene(DMBA) in perila oil. After 1 week of DMBA treatment, all animals were labeled with ²H₂O by administration of 4% ²H₂O in drinking water after single intraperitonial bolus injection with 99.9% ²H₂O until sacrifice on postnatal day 81. The timedependent weight gains were observed in all groups throughout the experimental period. The enrichment of body ²H₂O was attained at 1.84-2.47% through oral administration of ²H₂O. Mammary epithelial cell proliferation was measured by enrichment (EM1) of dA from rats. DMBA treated groups showed higher fractional synthesis than DMBA non-treated groups. The group exposed only to genistein showed significantly lower EM1 (1.46±0.87%) than those of control groups, i.e. DMBA non-treated group (2.28±0.29%) and DMBA treated group(2.32±0.28%). Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) immunostaining of mammary tissue revealed that genistein reduced proliferation of the mammary epithelial, and the number of cells stained positive for BrdU both in DMBA treated groups and DMBA non-treated groups. H&E staining of mammary epithelium also showed that the exposure to genistein decreased proliferation of the mammary epithelium. The epithelium in the rats treated with DMBA showed mostly multiple cell layers, in contrast to the mostly double layer shown in the DMBA non-treated rats. In conclusion, exposure to genistein in the prepubertal period inhibited mammary epithelial cell proliferation. The ²H₂O labeling results were in good agreement with the results of BrdU incorporation and histomorphometry.
