        김무중,권철홍 대전대학교 산업기술연구소 2001 산업기술연구소 論文集 Vol.12 No.1

In ITU H.323 teleconference system, the RTP/RTCP protocol is offered to transfer real-time multimedia stream. Both sender and receiver have experience in packet loss and jitter which result from network congestion over Internet. Audio quality over Internet depends on the number of lost packets and on jitter between successive packets. The goal of our study is to improve the speech quality over Internet by adapting the packet loss characteristics of the network and adopting the buffer control management mechanism at receiver. We suggest a dynamic redundant audio transmission mechanism which examines the packet loss rate and uses the feedback information through RTCP.

일 농촌지역에서 발기부전의 유병률 및 상관 요인

        홍진표,송해철,이무송,이창화,안준호,한오수,안태영,김성윤 大韓神經精神醫學會 2005 신경정신의학 Vol.44 No.6

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of erectile dysfunction (ED) in a rural area of Korea and to examine the relationship between the prevalence and correlates of subjects. Method : This study was done as a part of the chronic disease survey of rural area by the Asan Foundation. Among 30 years or older population from Jung Eup, a rural area of Korea, 711 male subjects were sampled using a cluster probability sampling method. Trained interviewers visited and interviewed subjects aged 30 years or older with a structured interview. ED was categorized as 'none', 'mild', 'moderate', or 'severe' according to the ability to 'attain and/or maintain an erection satisfactory for sexual intercourse'. Response rate was 54.3% (N=386). Results : The age weighted prevalence of ED was 27.2% (minimal 14.1%, moderate 7.6%, severe 5.5%). Prevalence and severity increased with age. Liver disease and underweight were significantly (p<0.05) associated with ED. Smoking seemed to be correlated with ED, but did not reach statistically significant level. Conclusion : ED was highly prevalent in the rural community of Korea. Medical, sociodemographic, and lifestyle variables associated with ED may alert physicians to patients at risk for ED and offer insight to its etiology.

Anti-inflammatory Effect of LFR on LPS-stimulated THP-1 Cells

        정승기,Sul, Mu-Chang,Kim, Hong-Yeoul,Roh, Young-Lae,Jung, Hee-Jae,Jung, Sung-Ki 대한한방내과학회 2009 大韓韓方內科學會誌 Vol.30 No.2

Background and Objective: Luffae Fructus Retinervus (LFR) is used for investigating symptoms of inflammation. We have evaluated the anti-inflammatory effect of LFR by analyzing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Materials and Methods : We differentiated THP-l cells into macrophage-like cells by treatment with PMA. Inflammation was induced by treatment with LPS and PMA. We determined the safe concentration of LFR by using the MTS and MTT assays and using PD 98059 as a negative control for comparison of the anti-inflammatory effect of LFR. Results : The MTS and MTT analysis showed that the cell survival rate was >80% within the LFR concentration range of 10-100 ng/ml and began to decrease to >80% at 1 ${\mu}g/ml$. By RT-PCR analysis, the gene expression of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-8, TGF-${\beta}$, IL-6, IL-${\beta}$1, and IL-10 levels were down-regulated when monocyte-derived macrophages were treated with concentrations of LFR between 10 ng/mL and 100 ng/mL. Conclusion : We conclude that LFR exerts an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory activity. The results suggest a promising way to treat general inflammatory diseases.

      • Three-dimensional Courses of Zygomaticofacial and Zygomaticotemporal Canals Using Micro-computed Tomography in Korean

        Kim, Hong-San,Oh, Jin-Ho,Choi, Da-Yae,Lee, Jae-Gi,Choi, Jong-Hoon,Hu, Kyung-Seok,Kim, Hee-Jin,Yang, Hun-Mu by Mutaz B. Habal, MD. 2013 JOURNAL OF CRANIOFACIAL SURGERY - Vol.24 No.5

ABSTRACT: The zygomatic nerve (ZN), which originates from the maxillary nerve at the pterygopalatine fossa, enters the orbit through the inferior orbital fissure. Within the lateral region of the orbit, the ZN divides into the zygomaticofacial (ZF) and zygomaticotemporal (ZT) nerves. The ZF and ZT nerves then pass on to the face and temporal region through the zygomaticoorbital foramen and enter their own bony canals within the zygomatic bone. However, multiple zygomaticofacial and zygomaticotemporal canals (ZFCs and ZTCs, respectively) can be observed, and their detailed intrabony courses are unknown. The aim of this study was clarify the three-dimensional intrabony courses and running patterns of the ZFCs and ZTCs, both to obtain a detailed anatomical description and for clinical purposes. Fourteen sides of the zygomatic bones were scanned as two-dimensional images using a micro-computed tomography (CT), with 32-μm slice thickness. Intrabony structures of each canals were three-dimensionally reconstructed and analyzed using Mimics computer software (Version 10.01; Materialise, Leuven, Belgium). We found that some ZTC was originated from ZFC. In 71.4% of the specimens, the ZTC(s) divided from the intrabony canal along the course of the ZFC(s). In other cases, 28.6% of ZTCs were opened through each corresponding ZT foramen. Zygomaticofacial canal originates from zygomaticoorbital foramen, divided into some of ZTCs, and is finally opened as ZF foramen. This new anatomical description of the intrabony structures of the ZFC(s) and ZTC(s) within the zygomatic bone by micro-CT technology provided helpful information to surgeons performing clinical procedures such as Le Fort osteotomy and reconstructive surgeries in the midface region.

In vitro Activities of LB20304, a New Fluoroquinolone

        Kim, Mu-Yong,Oh, Jeong-In,Paek, Kyoung-Sook,Hong, Chang-Yong,Kim, In-Chull,Kwak, Jin-Hwan The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 1996 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.19 No.1

The in vitro activity of LB20304 was evaluated against clinical isolates and compared with those of Q-35, ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin, lomefloxacin and ofloxacin. LB20304 demonstrated 16-to 64-fold more potent activity than ciprofloxacin against gram-positive bacteria. LB20304 inhibited 90% of the isolates of methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus(MSSA) at a concentration of $0.016\mug/ml\; (MIC_{90}). MIC_{90}$ values of LB20304 against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus epidermidis (MSSE), methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis (MRSE) and Streptococcus pneumoniae were $2\mug/ml,\; 0.016\mug/ml,\; 0.5\mug/ml \;and\; 0.031\mug/ml,$ respectively. LB20304 was also very active against gram-negative bacteria. Against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, $MIC_{90}s of\; LB20304 were\; 0.031\mug/ml,\; 0.25\mug/ml,\; 2\mug/ml,\; 8\mug/ml\; and\; 0.5\mug/ml$, respectively. Its activity was comparable to that of ciprofloxacin but much better than those of Q-35, sparfloxacin, ofloxacin and lomefloxacin. LB20304 also exhibited the most potent acitvity among quinolones tested against laboratory standard strains, ofloxacin-resistant strains, .betha.-lactamase-producing strains and anaerobic strains. The inhibitory effect$ (IC_{50)$ of LB20304 on DNA gyrase from Micrococcus luteus, determined by the supercoiling assay, was 8-fold more potent than that of ciprofloxacin. LB20304 did not induce topoisomerase-associated DNA cleavage even at a concentration of 10 mg/ml, although ciprofloxacin induced DNA cleavage at a concentration of 1 mg/ml.

Dopping Effect of Fluorine Atom on the Superconductivity of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y$

        Kim, Keu-Hong,Cho, Seun- Koo,Kim, Yoo-Young,Park, Jong-Sik,Choi, Mu-Yong Korean Chemical Society 1990 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.11 No.5

The normal and fluorinated high-Tc superconducting materials, $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y$with $0.25{\leq}x{\leq}0.55\;and\;0.00{\leq}y{\leq}0.30$, were synthesized to investigate the dopping effect of fluorine atom on the superconductivity of Y123 and studied by X-ray diffraction analysis and electron probe microanalysis, resistivity and thermopower measurements, and polarized micro-Raman spectroscopy. The reproducible micro-Raman spectra were recorded and analyzed. The coherent assignments could be suggested for the spectra of normal and fluorinated samples. The fluorine atoms introduced were found to be substituted for oxygen in pyramidal Cu-O units rather than in Cu-O chains. The unit cell parameters were decreased upon the substitution of oxygen by fluorine atom. From the decreasing cell parameters and Tc, the increasing thermopower, and the possible assignments of the vibrational modes, it could be suggested that the dopping of fluorine atom localizes the superconducting electrons in Y123.

      • Cell Adhesion and <i>in Vivo</i> Osseointegration of Sandblasted/Acid Etched/Anodized Dental Implants

        Kim, Mu-Hyon,Park, Kyeongsoon,Choi, Kyung-Hee,Kim, Soo-Hong,Kim, Se Eun,Jeong, Chang-Mo,Huh, Jung-Bo MDPI 2015 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES Vol.16 No.5

<P>The authors describe a new type of titanium (Ti) implant as a Modi-anodized (ANO) Ti implant, the surface of which was treated by sandblasting, acid etching (SLA), and anodized techniques. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the adhesion of MG-63 cells to Modi-ANO surface treated Ti <I>in vitro</I> and to investigate its osseointegration characteristics <I>in vivo</I>. Four different types of Ti implants were examined, that is, machined Ti (control), SLA, anodized, and Modi-ANO Ti. In the cell adhesion study, Modi-ANO Ti showed higher initial MG-63 cell adhesion and induced greater filopodia growth than other groups. <I>In vivo</I> study in a beagle model revealed the bone-to-implant contact (BIC) of Modi-ANO Ti (74.20% ± 10.89%) was much greater than those of machined (33.58% ± 8.63%), SLA (58.47% ± 12.89), or ANO Ti (59.62% ± 18.30%). In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Modi-ANO Ti implants produced by sandblasting, acid etching, and anodizing improve cell adhesion and bone ongrowth as compared with machined, SLA, or ANO Ti implants. These findings suggest that the application of Modi-ANO surface treatment could improve the osseointegration of dental implant.</P>

      • Development of a Mobile Application, "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", for Identification of Plants in Bukhansan National Park

        Kim, Sang-Tae,Lee, Seung-Yeon,Kim, Seung-Chul,Byun, Hye-Won,Lee, Sang-Tae,Kim, Mu-Yeal,Hong, Seok-Pyo,Chung, Young-Jae,Park, Ki-Ryong,Lee, Chung-Hee,Lee, Joong-Ku,Heo, Kyeong-In,Lee, Ji-Ye,Lee, Eun-Je National Science Museum of Korea 2011 Journal of Korean nature Vol.4 No.3

We developed the educational purpose mobile application, named "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", aiming for easy identification of wild flowers for students and visitors in the park. When visitors find a flower or part of plant in the park, visitors can search for its name utilizing the pictures and characters provided in their own smartphone mobile devices or tablet PCs. The application provides pictures of wild flowers in the park and character-based searching system based on 12 diagnostic features (e.g., growth form, leaf arrangement, flower symmetry, petal color, petal number, sepal number, etc). We adopted the complete floristic survey of Chung and Lee (1962) and added species that we confirmed their distribution in the park during the development of this application. In summary, number of vascular plants in this park was estimated to be 428 taxa including 100 families, 280 genera, 327 species, 1 subspecies, 50 varieties, and 5 formas. We provided a total of 588 pictures representing 358 taxa and each taxon includes multiple pictures in many cases. Included identification quizzes can be an efficient educational tool as well as fun activity for students and visitors who are learning plant species in Korea. Our next step will include GPS function in the application for indicating visitor's location and for providing previously reported sites of the species that we interested in the map of the park. The future application which includes GPS function will be a valuable tool for the monitoring of rare plants, plant researches related to the climate changes, etc. We currently provide Korean iPhone version only, and English version and both of android versions will be serviced soon.
