<P>Controlling the thickness of an electrospun nanofibrous scaffold by altering its pore size has been shown to regulate cell behaviors such as cell infiltration into a three-dimensional (3D) scaffold. This is of great importance when manufacturing tissue-engineering scaffolds using an electrospinning process. In this study, we report the development of a novel process whereby additional aluminum foil layers were applied to the accumulated electrospun fibers of an existing aluminum foil collector, effectively reducing the incidence of charge buildup. Using this process, we fabricated an electrospun scaffold with a large pore (pore size >40 μm) while simultaneously controlling the thickness. We demonstrate that the large pore size triggered rapid infiltration (160 μm in 4 hours of cell culture) of individual endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and rapid cell colonization after seeding EPC spheroids. We confirmed that the 3D, but not two-dimensional, scaffold structures regulated tubular structure formation by the EPCs. Thus, incorporation of stem cells into a highly porous 3D scaffold with tunable thickness has implications for the regeneration of vascularized thick tissues and cardiac patch development.</P>

Since the mid-twenties, various researches have been conducted with a focus on decreasing air pollution. In recent years, many researchers have investigated the multifunctional filtration method with the aim of developing an efficient filter. One of the notable experiments conducted involves electrospraying materials onto nonwoven fabric. In this project, we electrosprayed an enzyme-incubated aqueous solution that contains a water-soluble acrylic binder extracted from kimchi and studied its drop, jet, discharge current, and jet velocity.

With the rapid growth of the Internet of things in the recent years, smart textile technologies have correspondingly attracted significant research attention in the industry. One important elementary technology being considered for smart textiles is a touch sensor input device to enable direct communication between users and other electronic devices. This study investigated the effect of the structural difference in conducting fibers on the sensing property of capacitive textile touch sensors. Conducting fibers made of stainless steel spun yarns and filaments used for electrodes presented different changes in electrical resistance with the application of tensile and compressive forces. It is believed that the different structures between spun yarns and filaments induced difference in the electric contact among their constituent fibers with the application of an external force. Moreover, the random deformation of staple fibers resulted in the unstable change of capacitance and large hysteresis, while a stable performance and low hysteresis was observed for textile sensors with filaments.

In recent years, mobile devices have become indispensable devices for everyday life. However, the types and technologies of mobile devices that are soft and easy to carry are not sufficient. It is urgently necessary to develop and disseminate supplementary measures to improve their communication as part of securing the equal rights of disabled people to social members. In order to address the gap between disabled and non-disabled people in terms of utilization of information and communication technology and to improve the smart mobile usage environment, this study aimed to develop an alternative means. The Braille keyboard for the visually impaired developed in the fabric form exhibited a good signal-to-noise ratio value of 41.14 when a P40 insulation layer was inserted between two conductive layers. This is because there is a factor due to the difference in permittivity, and the change in the distance between the conductive layers due to the applied load is greatest.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for hospitalized children under the condition of painful procedure. Method: The data were collected from July 15th to Oct 30, 2003 from 68 hospitalized children suffer from acute disease, 68 mothers take care of children, 14 pediatric ward nurses. To evaluate the degree of pain perception of children, mothers & nurses, face pain rating scale and behavior characteristic were used. Result: The result were as follows. 1) The pain perception score of children, mothers & nurses. child perceived highest as the score of 3.60 2) The most frequent behavioral characteristic children were `crying(47.1%)` mothers were `soothing the child(54.4%)` and nurses were `support not to move(52.9%)` 3) The degree of pain perception of children, mothers and nurses according to subjects` general characteristics and painful procedure, there were stastical difference according to children`s age, mothers age and duration of painful procedure 4) There were significant correlation between the degree of pain perception and behavioral characteristics of children, mothers & nurses. Conclusion: Nurses should not underestimate children`s pain and need to provide knowledge and information to the child and their parents regarding painful procedure.

<P>A poly(amic acid) (PAA) solution in xylene was prepared for electrospinning in order to fabricate fibers. However, jet breaking occurred at the point of the occurrence of whipping instability, resulting in forming micro-particles. This was an exceptional jet behavior compared with the general electro-spraying process that occurs directly from the surface of the polymer droplet. It is important to understand the mechanism of electrospinning and the instability of PAA in order to form fibers for mat deposition. Thus, the behavior of the jet breaking was clearly observed by a high-speed camera and the dynamic behavior of the jet was explored by an image analysis technique. Furthermore, polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was added to the PAA/xylene solution with various concentrations to change the elongation viscosity. Uniform diameter fibers were obtained by increasing the content of PAN to the level that the drag force between the polymer chains increased enough to overcome the drawing force. As a result the optimum content ratio of the PAA/PAN mixed solution to obtain the desired fiber spinning and deposition was determined as being 5:5.</P>
